Motorola Moto G Power 2022 Review – Motorola Moto G Power 2022 was announced in the US in Q4 2021. While other companies are busy removing features from their phone, the Moto G Power 2022 provides you with a 90Hz refresh rate display, huge battery, fingerprint sensor, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The design of the Moto G Power (2022) is similar to the Moto G31 smartphone. This phone is a low-budget phone so you will miss the specs. A low-resolution display and average processor could ruin the user experience, but a phone is more than just a display and processor. So, let’s start with a detailed review to find out if this phone is worth buying.

Design and Display
The design of the Motorola Moto G Power 2022 smartphone closely resembles that of Motorola’s other smartphones from their G series. It has a plastic unibody with a rectangular camera module. The fingerprint sensor is side mounted on the lock button, and Motorola’s signature “M” logo is embedded on the center back.
The plastic back has a matte finish, so it should keep the fingerprints and smudges away. The phones come only in one color, and that’s classic black. The back has a pattern on top of the black color, and the texture is very soft to touch. The large 6.5 inches HD+ IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Because this is just HD+, it means the display resolution is 720p.
The lack of Full HD resolution may not sit well with everyone, but the inclusion of 90Hz refresh rate should give you a pleasant experience, but that is also not the case. We will discuss more on that in the internal and performance part of the phone. The phone also comes with a Water-repellent coating to some degree, but don’t dip the phone in a tub as it is water repellant and not water-resistant.
Memory and Internal
The smartphone comes in two variants. One with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, but if the internal storage is not enough for you, you can get a second variant that has the same 4GB ram but comes equipped with 128GB of internal memory which should be enough to store all your precious photos, videos, and movies. Inside the phone lies the new Mediatek Helio G37 SoC that is manufactured on a 12nm node.
This is where the issues of this phone come into the limelight. It’s not a bad processor, but the inclusion of only low-powered ARM Cortex-A53 cores may not be enough for everyone. It takes a while to load apps, but if you don’t mind that, then it’s fine. Even though the display has a 90Hz refresh rate, the processor just isn’t powerful enough to drive such a high refresh rate.
Camera
The rear camera system features a triple-camera system. The main sensor is the only sensors that is worth talking about as the rest of the two cameras are just 2MP macro and 2MP depth, which are just there to validate the triple camera naming scheme. The 50MP main camera sensor is actually a nice sensor that gives decent picture quality. The colors are a bit boosted, but they have a good amount of details, and the dynamic range is also decently captured.
During the night, the phone takes somewhat decent images when there is a good amount of light, but in a low-light situation, the camera struggles a lot. The picture comes with a lot of noise but toggling the Night Vision mode can save the day. The inclusion of Night Vision mode really makes a difference.
You get an 8MP selfie camera on the front that can take some good selfies as long as your expectations are low. You can’t expect dazzling shots at this price range. Both the front and the rear cameras can shoot at a maximum of 1080@30fps video recording, but surprisingly, the rear camera comes equipped with gyro-EIS support for stable video recording. This is indeed a bonus point that will assist you in recording videos of your pets or kids. The video quality is just average, which is understandable at this price range.
Battery and Others
The battery found in the Motorola G Power 2022 has a capacity of Li-Po 5000mAh, and it is capable of powering the smartphone for 2 days in normal use. So, naturally, it consumes very little energy allowing the smartphone to last longer. If you love binge-watching movies and TV series on your phone, you may choose to buy this smartphone as it will allow you to watch movies for days without the need for charging.
When you do need to charge, you get a charger in the box, which is missing in flagships phones these days. It is a defult charger and so no fast charging capabilities. Another good thing is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack which is common for low-budget phones.
Apart from these, the device also comes equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. There’s a side mounted fingerprint sensor and that is quite fast and responsive. Motorola revealed the price tag of the Moto G Power 2022 smartphone is around $200 (Rs 14,999 in India) approx and promised that the phone would be available for sale in early 2022.

Conclusion
The phone can perform most basic tasks such as calls, texts, movies, social media, or light browsing. This is a phone that is not meant for someone who enjoys serious gaming and multitasking. So, if you are that person, you should really go for something like Moto G71 or the flagship Moto Edge X30. Alternatives such as the Moto G51 should vastly improve the performance and user experience.
But if you don’t need such high-end specs and just want something for entertainment and general uses, then the Motorola Moto G Power 2022 phone is worth your money. Another plus point of this phone is that it can give 2-day battery life in general use.
