Motorola Moto G31 Review – Motorola launched several G series phones back to back. From November 2021 to January 2022, we have seen numerous smartphones with the same Moto G branding. It includes the G31, G41, G71, and many more phones. For today’s review, we have the Motorola Moto G31 and this smartphone is available worldwide.
The Motorola G31 phone arrives with a similar approach as the regular Motorola phone, and you will get the near-stock Android experience. But what is more exciting is the value proportional you are receiving from this phone. Though it might not be great as the Xiaomi 11i, the phone does have its good side too. So, let’s start with a detailed review of the Motorola Moto G31 smartphone.

Motorola Moto G31 Review
Highlights
- The phone offers a standard 6.4-inches AMOLED display in which you will receive a side-mounted fingerprint.
- As for the performance aspect, the Moto G31 grants the Helio G85 chipset with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.
- As far as the software layering is cornered, you will attain an android 11 OS skin interface with lots of customization.
- The camera section holds a triple camera setup led by a 50MP lens with a 13MP selfie.
- Last but not least, the phone also presents massive Li-Po 5000 mAh battery life with 10W fast charging support.
Design and Display
The Motorola Moto G31 doesn’t have that much design improvement like the recently launched Moto phones. But, there’s one thing great is that all of them offers classic and simple design layout. They might not offer the fanciest texture, nor do they have to take any leap toward changing the design. But still, they can attract users with a simplistic layout.
Following this, you will obtain impressive color variants, including Mineral Grey and Baby Blue. Both of them are good, appearance-wise, while the flat triple camera board layout looks pretty interesting. As usual, the branding is present at the center of the back panel. In terms of holding experience, the phone feels easy to hold.
As for the front display, the phone brings decent colors and contrast aspect with the 6.4-inches AMOLED panel. Besides this, the FHD+ resolution works excellent, and the color grading is good. However, the phone is lacking corning gorilla glass protection, higher brightness nits, advanced refresh rate, and many more. Overall the display section feels a bit underwhelming.
Memory and Internal
The Motorola Moto G31 performance review is not so bad and not so good either. It falls under the average category where you can efficiently perform multitasking. But can’t do the performance-driven task. The Helio G85 chipset is relevantly good but didn’t able to cope up with the competition where smartphones are offering 5G with better chipsets.
But if you are a fan of clean UI experience, you won’t be disappointed by Moto G31 as you are getting the simple Android 11 layering that didn’t even have any additional apps apart from the few critical system apps. The seamlessly smooth and lightweight experience is a great deal for those who are looking for a bloatware-free experience.
Aside from this, you can purchase this phone in two ample storage variants. The basic variant features 4GB RAM accompanied by 64GB UFS 2.2 storage. On the other hand, the secondary variant offers similar RAM but with a 128GB storage bundle. The primary variant storage might look insufficient, but still, you are getting a shared SIM slot to expand the storage unit.
Camera
The Motorola Moto G31 camera quality experience is almost great as it brings out natural colors in each photo without any over saturation or increasing the punchy colors. Although, the camera module sometimes wasn’t able to grab the fine details. However, the 50MP primary shooter does capture dynamic ranges of images.
Alongside this, you will also receive an 8MP ultra-wide that improvised the wide-angle view photos, and the color and saturation of those photos come out excellent. Lastly, there’s also a 5MP macro lens that captures close-up shots, but sometimes messed up details. In terms of the front display camera, the 13MP selfie camera clicks decent photos with AI software.
The image processing unit of the Moto G31 is good if you didn’t set the bar too high. The overall daylight photography experience won’t disappoint you, but low light feels sometimes behind the competition. As far as the video recording is concerned, the phone renders 1080p resolution videos without any problem. Though, there’s no video stabilization support.
Battery and Others
The Motorola Moto G31 battery life grants decent usage experience as it can stay awake for more than 5+ hours thanks to the 5000 mAh battery. Watch web series and play games without any hassle. But sadly, the makers only offer 10W charging support. The users have to wait for an hour and a half to fuel the phone from flat to 100%.
As for the additional features, the comms and sensors level is fabulous, and you will attain a decent level sound system. However, the phone didn’t offer dual speakers. Yet, on the other hand, the price point feels excessive, as the starting variant costs roughly $400, while the higher variant is priced at $400 (Rs 29,900 in India) approx. It’s absurd pricing for the overall features and specs.

Conclusion
There’s no denying that you are getting the clean UI experience with the Motorola Moto G31 smartphone, but according to the price point, the overall features of this phone make feel underwhelming. If the phone provides a 5G chipset, it could justify the price tag, but it is not since it’s a 4G phone. Yet, camera quality will be fantastic at some point. If you are considering this phone as your next device, it would be hard to recommend from our end.
On the other hand, if you are gettings some discount for the Moto G31, then it might be worth purchasing. But if not, you can check out alternatives like the Motorola Moto G71 smartphone to get relevant specs at a decent price.
