Tecno pova neo

Tecno Pova Neo Smartphone Review – Tecno Pova Neo was announced in India on January 20 as an affordable smartphone in the budget segment. This 4G smartphone is available on sale globally and the phone seems to have many important features of modern-day smartphones such as huge battery capacity, splash resistance, and fast charging support.

The phone’s design looks modern but available in the budget range, so we shouldn’t expect flagship specs. The specs look decent on paper, but to find out if it is, let’s start the Tecno Pova Neo smartphone review.

Tecno Pova Neo Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Tecno Pova Neo smartphone features a 6.8 inches IPS LCD display panel with default nits brightness.
  2. The Chinese smartphone maker Tecno features the 12nm Mediatek Helio G25 processor.
  3. It has Android 11 OS with HIOS 7.6 User Interface.
  4. The main rear camera sensor has a 13MP, while the selfie camera is an 8MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a massive Li-Po 6000mAh battery and it comes with an 18W fast charger.

Design and Display

The design is one of the areas where the Tecno Pova Neo excels. It features a modern matte finish with a unique pattern on the back. The phone comes in 3 colors, Geek Blue, Obsidian, and Powehi color variants. The pattern on the back along with the modern camera module makes for a very attractive design. The fingerprint sensor, however, is on the back panel and the phone is very slim and lightweight considering the massive battery. The weight of the phone is equally distributed and so the phone doesn’t feel very heavy.

But, due to the large 6.8-inch display, the phone is unusually big and hard to use single-handedly. The grip, however, is solid and won’t slip out of your hand easily. As you already know, the front of the phone features a 6.8 inches IPS LCD display panel which has a default refresh rate and 480 nits brightness as you expect in a budget smartphone.

Memory and Internal

With the Tecno Pova Neo, the company decided to adopt the 12nm Mediatek Helio G25 chipset which is a very low-end chip. It is clocked at a maximum of 4×2.0 GHz for Cortex-A53 cores. The performance of this chipset should be close to the Snapdragon 625 found in Redmi Note 4 released all the way back in January 2017. This should be enough to tell you just how much power can this chipset deliver.

As for GPU, the PowerVR GE8320 should be enough to run the lite graphics games such as Temple Run, Subway Surfer, and so on but anything more than that and the phone will start lagging instantly. Some of the most popular and powerful games such as BGMI, Genshin Impact, and COD mobile may not run well and even if they do, the experience won’t be too good.

For storage variants, the Pova Neo comes in 4GB/6GB RAM with 64GB/128GB internal storage. You will get the Android 11 OS with HIOS 7.6 User Interface, which does have a number of bloat wares that comes pre-installed with the phone.

Camera

The camera in the back features a dual-camera system contrary to the design that suggests it’s a triple camera, which it is not. The third camera placement actually has no sensor inside and it’s just for show. That doesn’t mean there’s something fishy about the whole camera system. In fact, the main sensor is decent enough. The 13MP sensor can take some decent enough pictures with vibrant colors. The Image Signal Processor of the Helio G25 is actually capable of processing all the data to capture a unique shot.

The 8MP selfie camera is also somewhat decent and could even be better than the back camera in terms of details and color science. For video shooting, the phone manages to shoot up to 1080p@30FPS from both the back and the selfie camera.

Battery and Others

The massive Li-Po 6000mAh battery inside the Tecno Pova Neo smartphone should easily last for around 2 – 3 days. Not only the capacity of the battery is larger but the chipset uses very little power hence, the phone can run on battery for a couple of days. Charging such a massive battery is not that easy either and so the company has included an 18W fast charger to help you charge the phone much faster and ease things a bit.

The Tecno Pova Neo also has dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, stereo speakers, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The phone is already on sale, and the price starts at $165 (Rs. 12,500 in India) approx.

Conclusion

If you want a smartphone with a big display and battery with a decent enough camera at a low price, then the Tecno Pova Neo smartphone is an excellent option. Not to mention the inclusion of 128GB internal storage will certainly help you capture a lot of the new pictures from your new phone but it does come with some disadvantages of its own such as the low-power chipset and the HD+ display.

But if you can manage all these cons, then you may choose this smartphone over its competitors. If you are looking for an alternative option then you can check out the Realme Narzo 50 smartphone however, the final decision is up to you.
