Realme Narzo 50A Prime

Realme Narzo 50 Review – Realme once again launched its budget-friendly phones in the market at shorter intervals. Here’s a new device from the Narzo series, the Realme Narzo 50 smartphone, which was released in March 2022. Besides this, the phone offers regular specs and features that one expects from an affordable smartphone. Though, the company released other variants mainly the Narzo 50A Prime and Narzo 50i which we had already covered.

Both of them are identical in terms of the design aspect. On the other hand, this 4G smartphone is available globally. Under this segment, there are tons of mobile phone options available in the industry thus, it is necessary to choose wisely about where to spend money. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Realme Narzo 50 smartphone.

Realme Narzo 50 Review

Highlights

  1. Realme Narzo 50 includes a 6.6 inches IPS LCD screen, that supports an impressive 120Hz refresh rate.
  2. Hardware-wise, the Realme phone has a Mediatek Helio G96 and an octa-core processor.
  3. The smartphone comes running on the Realme UI 2.0 user interface based on the Android 11 OS.
  4. Among the triple rear camera module, it has a 50MP primary sensor while for the front a 16MP selfie camera.
  5. In terms of battery, a Li-Po 5000mah battery is accompanied by a 33W fast charger to grant better screen time.

Design and Display

Realme is known for offering different patterns and textures through its smartphones. This time the Realme Narzo 50 gets a textured design, that has stripes over the rear surface. The back and frames are made of plastic, while the front glass carries a punch-hole notch at the top left. Like all the phones of this range, the body does not acquire an IP rating or Glass Protection.

The smartphone is present in two colors namely Speed Blue & Speed Black. Though there is no unique color option, both the existing shades look classy and nice. Besides this, the weight is balanced well and so the 194 grams device does not feel bulky.

For the display, the 6.6 inches IPS LCD panel comes along with a higher 120Hz refresh rate. Although you don’t get an OLED screen still the refresh rate makes the screen experience delightful. On the other side, the default nits brightness is inadequate for working in bright light but is comfortable indoors. Also, The touch is responsive, and the overall picture quality is decent.

Memory and Internal

In terms of processing, like many other Realme phones in this category, the Narzo 50 equips a 12nm MediaTek Helio G96 chipset. The chipset offers upright day-to-day performance with no major heating issues or hiccups. Moreover, gaming under default graphic settings is also enjoyable up to a certain level. Since the phone didn’t offer any cooling system support, so you will face overheating issues while playing long gaming sessions.

Users attain two variants, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, and the another brings the combination of 6GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. Additionally, a dedicated microSD card slot is here. In contrast, the software may disappoint customers as the Realme Narzo 50 is supported by Android 11 OS based on Realme UI 2.0. Yes, you don’t get the latest Android 12 OS even after months of its release.

Apart from this, the user interface is intuitive and user-friendly. As usual, lots of bloatware welcomes you, although they can be removed. You can choose any wallpaper, filter, and feature to make a personalized android ecosystem without any problem.

Camera

Under the hood, the triple rear camera module consists of a 50 MP primary lens followed by a macro and depth sensor of 2 MP each. If we consider the affordable segment, the picture quality is fair under daylight. However, sometimes, it may provide over-saturated results, yet the images are serviceable enough. But the low-light photography is below average & can be improved.

Except for this, the other two lenses are useless and must have been replaced with an ultra-wide sensor. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera that takes detailed shots with precise colors & accurate skin tones. In contrast to that, you won’t obtain any exceptional features, but still, you will get decent photos in proper daylight. However, the same thing can’t be said for low-light.

For video recordings, the phone can record 1080p videos at 120fps from the main camera. The recordings from both front & back cameras are usable with no stabilization. Furthermore, we can’t expect anything exceptional in this segment. In short, the videography experience would be average.

Battery and Others

The Realme Narzo 50 brings a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with a 33W fast charger. The battery backup is decent, and the device can last all day long, if not used for intense gaming or heavy usage. The fast charger may take more than an hour to refuel the phone, which is acceptable under this range. This huge battery capacity can effortlessly provide more than 4+ hours of screen time for watching content and playing games.

Other than all these, the loudspeaker lends a likable sound. Also, you get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner along with other necessary comms and sensors. Let’s come to the pricing, the Realme Narzo 50 is available at a starting price of $170 (Rs 12,990 in India) approx. and a bit more for the higher variant.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Realme Narzo 50 smartphone handset can be referred to as a decent performance phone. There are a handful of compromises but given the pricing, it would be unfair to ask for more. So, if you are not someone who needs a Pro level camera or 5G connectivity, and only require a decent-looking smartphone for basic daily usage. Then the Realme Narzo 50 smartphone can be a smart buy on this budget.

But on the other hand, if you are looking for something different, there are tons of other alternative options present in the market. You must check the Honor X7 for all-around features and for a better camera setup which can be considered a good deal.
