Design and Display
The Realme 12 Plus follows the design language of its bigger brother, Realme 12 Pro Plus. So, you are still getting the same premium vibe with the new Realme 12 Plus but at a much cheaper price tag. The sides are flat while the rear panel is made of faux leather. The smartphone feels significantly premium in hand while looking elegant in both colors, Pioneer Green and Navigator Beige.
The smartphone is also very grippy, thanks to the flat nature of the side frame and the texture of the leather back. There’s also a straight line on the rear panel that goes up from the bottom to the top circumventing the camera module. The line appears as the zip lines that further complement the design language. The phone just weighs around 190 grams and is protected with an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.
As for the display, you get a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support, making every interaction on the screen super smooth. The display also has support for HDR10+, so watching content on this display is going to be a pleasure. The display also gets adequately bright at 2000 nits on a bright sunny day, so you won’t have any trouble using the smartphone outdoors.
Memory and Internal
The Realme 12 Plus features the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 5G chipset. This chipset can reach clock speeds of up to 2×2.6 GHz, so you can run anything you want on it, whether that’s social media apps, games, or any productivity software. Speaking of gaming, the chipset has Mali-G68 MC4, which is more than good enough when it comes to running demanding and high-fidelity games like Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, and CODm at the highest graphical fidelity.
As for the OS, the Realme 12 Plus is running on Android 14 out of the box Realme UI 5.0 user interface, which ensures you get all the latest features and the best customization support. For RAM and storage, the smartphone can be purchased with up to 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB of storage. Also, the smartphone supports 5G connectivity, so you will get gigabit-level speeds and lower latency during your gaming session.
Camera
The Realme 12 Plus sports a 50MP triple rear-camera system. The primary camera consists of a 50MP sensor and pictures from this camera have great details, accurate colors, proper white balance, and higher dynamic range. The second camera is an 8MP ultra-wide camera that captures all the details decently with great color accuracy and surprisingly good dynamic range.
The smartphone also has portrait mode and the pictures come out looking quite good with a natural background blur. If you like taking pictures at night, there’s support for night mode as well. It increases the camera ISO to capture more light than usual, which is then processed boosts through advanced algorithms. The result seems quite realistic and down to earth without any artificial effect on it.
For the selfie camera, there’s a 16MP sensor that takes some decent selfies with high detail levels, perfect skin tone, and a natural color tone in the background. As for video recording, the Realme 12 Plus’s rear cameras can shoot up to 4K@30FPS, but the selfie camera maxes out at 1080p@30FPS. The footage from the rear cameras is stabilized with gyro-EIS, but no stabilization option is available for the selfie camera.
Battery and Others
The Realme 12 Plus has a 5000 mAh non-removable battery. This is a high-capacity battery, so it can last 1 – 3 days depending on the usage. With a light to medium usage that includes a bit of camera, social media, watching videos, and so on, getting 2 days or even more is not that difficult. But if you play games for a long period, the battery will drain faster and last less than a day full day.
However, it still has a lot of battery even for gamers, so there’s nothing to worry about. But when the battery does go out, there’s a 67W wired fast charger, which can fully charge the smartphone in under 50 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone also has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, an under-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. For the base variant, the Realme 12 Plus starts at $303 (Rs 19,899 in India) approx.

Conclusion
The Realme 12 Plus brings a new dimension into the mid-range segment. Every aspect of this smartphone is carefully designed to provide the best experience possible to the user. Let’s take the display for example. The display is astonishingly bright, even under direct sunlight and that’s something a lot of other smartphones in the same price range will suffer. The design also exudes a premium vibe from every side of the phone.
It feels just as good as it looks. The same goes for the performance side of the smartphone. The apps launch faster, the games play smoothly and the internet runs at 5G speeds. On top of that, the camera performance is quite good and the same goes for the battery. All in all, the new Realme 12 Plus provides an astonishingly good value and user experience. Given all that it provides, the pricing is indeed justified.
The only decent alternative to this smartphone is the Xiaomi Poco X6, which provides slightly better specs in some aspects of the smartphone while coming at nearly the same price tag. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
