Oppo A2x

Oppo A2x Smartphone Review – The Oppo A2x was launched in October 2023. It’s the latest 5G budget smartphone from Oppo and is available for purchase in China only as of now. Oppo has yet to make any announcement regarding a global release. It’s a trend with Oppo to not release their budget smartphone internationally, so don’t keep your hopes up.

However, if you live in China and have been looking for a new smartphone, the Oppo A2x might just be the perfect smartphone for your budget. It has 5G connectivity and an elegant design, which could make the smartphone very attractive. So, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Oppo A2x smartphone and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Oppo A2x Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Oppo A2x features a 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel with HD resolution and a 90Hz high refresh rate.
  2. It is powered by the 7nm Mediatek Dimensity 6020 5G chipset for a speedy performance.
  3. The Oppo A2x runs on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1 user interface for better customization support.
  4. The Oppo A2x features a 13MP dual-camera system in the back and a 5MP selfie camera in the front.
  5. The Oppo A2x also features a Li-Po 5000 mAh with 10W fast wired charging support.

Design and Display

The design of the Oppo A2x is majestic considering the price of the smartphone. If you are not told about the specifications of the smartphone, you will refuse to believe it’s a budget smartphone. It features a flat polycarbonate body with different patterns on the rear body depending on the color of your choice. So, if you go with the Purple color, you will find a leaves-like pattern on the rear panel.

The Gold color has a wood-like texture while the Black color has a frosted finish texture. Each color has its unique touch to the design and gives the smartphone a unique look. The smartphone is light enough and there’s very little camera bump. On the front, you will find a 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution with a 90Hz high refresh rate for a smoother user experience.

The display of the Oppo A2x also gets plenty bright at 720 nits for better outdoor visibility and not a lot of IPS panels can get that bright. The display is color-accurate and features a total of 16.7M colors. The smartphone is also protected by IP54 dust and splash resistance.

Memory and Internal

Oppo has equipped the A2x with Mediatek Dimensity 6020 5G chipset, which is a fantastic chipset at this price point, thanks to the 7nm manufacturing process. This is a 5G chipset with an octa-core configuration that is clocked at 2×2.2 GHz and it can easily run all your favorite apps and games. The chipset has a lot of performance to offer and doesn’t heat up after using intensive applications or even during gaming.

Speaking of gaming, the chipset has the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which is capable of performing decently and can play games such as CODm and PUBG mobile. While it can play, don’t expect to play at high graphics or relatively smoother framerates. Apart from the chipset, the Oppo A2x can be purchased with up to 8GB to 12GB of RAM and 128GB to 256GB of storage. The Oppo A2x also comes with Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1 user interface for better customization support.

Camera

The Oppo A2x features a 13MP dual-camera system in the rear. It has a 13MP sensor as the main camera and a 2MP sensor as the depth camera. The main camera with the 13MP sensor manages to capture some decent shots. They are nothing groundbreaking but good enough for the price tag. The detail level wasn’t completely washed out and looked quite good for the price tag.

Some textures may look soft depending on the lighting and background but can be posted onto social media without needing a touchup, thanks to the natural color tone of the pictures. The photos taken at night are quite average at best and won’t win any beauty pageant contest. The selfie camera on the front with the 5MP sensor is also quite average and lacks a lot of fine details. For video recording, the Oppo A2x can shoot up to 1080p@30FPS from both the rear and selfie camera systems.

Battery and Others

The Oppo A2x has a Li-Po 5000 mAh, which can easily last about 2 – 3 days of usage, thanks to the high-capacity battery and efficient processor. This great battery life can happen with some video streaming, instant messaging, Instagram, and more, but if you are a gamer, then it will last even less. However, with a battery capacity this large, charging times can be longer.

But the smartphone is not equipped with any sort of fast charging technology, so charging times will be longer, unfortunately. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and a Type-C connector. The price of the Oppo A2x starts at $216 (Rs 17,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion

Oppo has equipped the Oppo A2x with some interesting specs. It has a great chipset and battery that will elevate the user experience tremendously. While other components are not as good as the chipset and battery, they are terrible and quite decent considering the price point. The camera experience is also fantastic if you keep realistic expectations.

The inclusion of IP54 dust and splash resistance and 5G connectivity is just like cherry on top considering the price point it is selling for. So, considering the specs and incredible chipset the Oppo A2x has, we feel like the pricing is justified. Pity that the smartphone won’t be available globally. We are very sure people would have loved it. They should go with the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, which is available internationally.
