Oppo A1 Pro Pros and Cons

Oppo A1x Smartphone Review – The Oppo A1x was launched on March 2023 as an affordable 5G smartphone that doesn’t break your wallet. While 5G is the main appeal of the smartphone, it has a lot more going on, especially in terms of design, performance, cameras, and battery. It is quite stylish and you will have a hard time believing it’s a budget smartphone because it doesn’t look like one.

But you don’t just buy a smartphone based on the looks and 5G connectivity and the Oppo A1x is much more than that. It may just surprise you and it certainly has the specs to deliver. The device also comes with stereo speakers and decent performance. Aside from this, there are a lot of things to check before buying out a smartphone. Well, there‘s only one way of finding out. Let’s begin with the Oppo A1x review and find out if the smartphone is worth the money you will be spending on it.

Oppo A1x Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Oppo A1x features a 6.56 inches IPS LCD display with 90Hz high refresh rate support.
  2. The smartphone is powered by the 7nm Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset that can reach up to a 2×2.2GHz clocking speed.
  3. The phone comes pre-loaded with Android 12 OS and ColorOS 12.1 user interface.
  4. The main rear camera sensor is a 13MP sensor, and the selfie camera is an 8MP sensor.
  5. The smartphone has a Li-Po 5000mAh long-lasting battery with 10W fast charging support.

Design and Display

The Oppo A1x doesn’t look cheap contrary to the price tag it carries but it is a downgraded model on the Oppo A1 smartphone. Sure, the body of the phone is made up of polycarbonate material and not fancy glass, but that’s actually a plus in our opinion. Budget users who are the primary target of this phone won’t have to deal with shattered back when their phone drops.

Not to mention, the body of the phone feels solid. The sides and the back of the phone are flat, which provides the phone with a good grip that’s not slippery. There’s no compromise with the design and body of the smartphone, which is quite a relief. The phone is available in two colors, Black and Blue.

While Black is always classy, the Blue color variant is also equally charming. Let’s turn our heads to the front of the phone. On the front, you get a 6.56 inches IPS LCD display panel with HD+ resolution, 90Hz high refresh rate, and around 600 nits HBM brightness. Now, we understand that some people are not going to be happy with just HD+ resolution, but resolution alone doesn’t make a display.

The display panel features decent color accuracy and can be used outdoors without much hassle. Anyways, the low 720p display is a downside to this smartphone. Apart from this, the device comes with IP54 dust and splash-resistant coating. Furthermore, the device is lightweight with 186 grams.

Memory and Internal

The internals of the smartphone is just as impressive as the design and display of the smartphone. The phone is powered by the 7nm Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset that can reach up to a 2×2.2GHz clocking speed and supports 5G connectivity. This chipset is a decently powerful and efficient processor. It can easily handle day-to-day tasks with ease while delivering 90 frames per second of refresh rate, which will make sliding through the user interface a breeze.

The Mali-G57 MC2 GPU is also quite a capable GPU. It can play PUBG mobile, CODm, and even Genshin at a smooth playable framerate, but don’t expect to play it at high graphics. It’s a capable GPU and not a flagship one. So, keep your expectations in reality mode. It will play all the games you want to but at medium to low graphics settings.

The smartphone is also 5G ready and that means downloading Netflix movies or an episode of a TV series will be done in a matter of a second. As for RAM and storage, the phone is available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants along with 128GB of storage. There is also support for a Micro SDXC card slot for extending storage limits and a headphone jack.

Camera

The Oppo A1x smartphone comes with a dual rear camera system with a 13MP main sensor and a secondary camera with a 2MP depth sensor. The main rear camera captures some good pictures with splendid colors. The details are not quite on point, but the images seem to have some sort of beauty filter on, which makes the pictures look Insta-ready but doesn’t quite have the details you may expect.

That’s not really surprising considering the price tag, but it’s a lot better than other similarly priced smartphones that tend to overprocess the image to compensate for the noise in the images. That’s not the case with the Oppo A1x. On top of that, the nighttime shots were quite decent. Even the selfie camera is quite decent considering it just has an 8MP sensor. But you know what they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. It is actually capable of taking some great selfies, which seems to be a pattern with most Oppo phones.

They are really good at selfies. It’s something in their camera algorithm that makes up for some amazing selfies. As for video recording, the phone can only shoot at a maximum of 1080P@30FPS from both the rear and the front-facing camera. All in all, you get an average camera setup from this device. There are a lot of better alternatives available in the market if you’re looking for a better camera smartphone.

Battery and Others

The Oppo A1x smartphone has a Li-Po 5000mAh battery that can easily last 2 – 3 days with light to moderate usage. Even with gaming, the smartphone should still last a full day, which is very impressive, especially when compared to other smartphones in the same price range. However, there’s no support for fast charging, the phone only supports normal 10W charging and comes included with a 10W wired charger in the box.

But, at least the charging port is USB Type C, which is a relief. Charging such a huge battery with a 10W charger will certainly take its sweet time, so expect the smartphone to take around 2 hours to fully charge the smartphone. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for a secure unlock process. The smartphone is on sale right now and is available starting at $197 (Rs 16,499 in India) approx for the base variant.

Conclusion

The Oppo A1x is a balanced phone for users who want a smartphone that doesn’t break their wallet and this smartphone is certainly that. Speaking of benefits, the device has decent refresh rate support, a mediocre performance chipset, and a huge battery capacity. Support for 5G connectivity is the plus point of this smartphone. Still, there are some downsides that can’t be neglected such as the low 720p display, IPS LCD panel, outdated camera setup, and outdated sensors support.

These drawbacks can be overlooked if we consider the overall price, it’s a budget 5g smartphone. If you have a limited budget then you can definitely opt for this smartphone. But if budget is not an issue, if you are looking for an alternative smartphone then you can go for the OnePlus Nord N30 smartphone which comes with 5G support and offers much better features. However, the final decision depends on you and your requirements.
