Vivo S18

Vivo V30 Smartphone Review – Vivo V30 was announced in February 2024 and it should start shipping to its customers later that month. The new smartphone will be available globally considering the Vivo’s previous smartphone release pattern. This is a premium smartphone that is designed to cater to users who want a great camera and user experience. As it is a premium smartphone, Vivo also equipped the smartphone with 5G connectivity and a lot more.

As for the design, the Vivo V30 looks eerily similar to Vivo’s other smartphones released at the end of last year, such as the Vivo S18 and that’s because are almost the same. The new Vivo V30 is coming with better cameras but will that be enough to entice users? That’s exactly what we plan to find out today. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the Vivo V30 smartphone and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Vivo V30 Smartphone Review

  2. The SoC inside the smartphone is the latest 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 5G chipset that is capable of reaching clock speeds of 1×2.63 GHz.
  3. The smartphone comes with Android 14 with a Funtouch 14 user interface for better customization support.
  4. The smartphone has a 50MP triple rear-camera system and the selfie camera has a 50MP sensor.
  5. The smartphone is powered by a Li-Ion 5000 mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging support.

Design and Display

The Vivo V30 is essentially a clone of Vivo’s S18 with an upgraded camera, so the design remains the same all around. But that doesn’t necessarily make it a bad design. Vivo V30 with its curved screen and Curved edges provides a very comfortable hold and a premium touch. The rear panel is made of glass while the body is made of plastic, but the body is quite solid with no chance of any creaking or bending.

The smartphone is available in Bloom White, Waving Aqua, Lush Green, and Noble Black. As for the display, you will find a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support. This display has been color-tuned and features HDR10+ certification and 1 Billion colors support, so it can display HDR content flawlessly.

The panel can get also plenty bright at over 2800 nits under direct sunlight, so you get the same display experience outdoors as you do indoors. The display also has minimal bezels in the chin, making the experience even more seamless. The display is also protected by the Schott Alpha glass. The entire smartphone is protected with IP54 certification for better protection against dust and splashes.

Memory and Internal

Vivo has equipped the Vivo V30 with the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 5G chipset. This chipset is capable of delivering clock speeds of up to 1×2.63 GHz, making it one of the most powerful chipsets in the mid-range to high-end smartphone category. The raw performance of this chipset will blow away all competition in the same price range.

The graphics performance is also on a different level. High-end games, such as Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Summoners War, and CODm can be played with the highest graphical fidelity. When it comes to the software side of things, Vivo V30 is running on Android 14 with the Funtouch 14 user interface for better customization support.

The chipset also supports 5G connectivity, so you can achieve gigabit-level speeds. For RAM and storage, the smartphone can be purchased with up to 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.

Camera

The Vivo V30 has a 50MP triple rear camera system. The primary camera consists of a 50MP sensor and pictures from this camera have great details, accurate colors, proper white balance, and high dynamic range. The smartphone also has portrait mode and the pictures come out quite good with near-perfect background blur. If you like taking pictures at night, there’s support for night mode as well.

It allows the camera to capture more light than usual and boosts the details through advanced algorithms. The second camera ultra-wide is where you see the upgrade when compared to the Vivo S18 smartphone. Instead of the 8MP sensor, you get a new 50MP ultra-wide camera and it manages to capture the details perfectly with great color accuracy and surprisingly good dynamic range. There’s also distortion around the edges compared to the main camera.

On the front, you get another 50MP sensor for selfies. This camera can take some good selfies with high detail levels and perfect skin tones. When it comes to video recording, the rear cameras can shoot up to 4K@30FPS, but the selfie camera maxes out at 1080p@30FPS. The footage from the rear cameras is stabilized with both OIS and gyro-EIS, but no stabilization option is available for the selfie camera.

Battery and Others

The Vivo V30 has a 5000 mAh battery. This is a high-capacity battery, so it can last 1 – 3 days depending on the usage. With a light to medium usage that includes a bit of camera, social media, watching videos, and so on, getting 2 days or even more is not that difficult. But with heavier usage, including gaming, the battery will drain faster.

However, the smartphone supports 80W wired fast charging, so that should put your worries away. This charger can fully charge the smartphone in just about 48 minutes. It also supports reverse-wired charging. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, an under-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C port. The Vivo V30 starts at $350 (Rs 28,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Vivo V30 is a premium smartphone for sure. It is truly capable of delivering a great camera and user experience like Vivo said it would. The Vivo V30’s pros include its stunning design, flagship-grade display, great chipset, superb camera, 5G, and fantastic battery life. As for cons, the smartphone lacks wireless charging and a telephoto lens.

But can you consider those cons if the smartphone is priced correctly? And even if it’s priced correctly, is this smartphone for you? Well, you will just have to ask yourself what you need out of a smartphone. If you want a great all-around smartphone, then the Vivo V30 is certainly a great choice. If you want great camera capabilities, then the Vivo V30 is also great for that as well.

But if your needs strictly include a telephoto lens or wireless charging, then you should avoid this smartphone. In that case, the Xiaomi Redmi K70E smartphone would be a better alternative at a similar or even lower price tag. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
