Design and Display

The Honor 90 Pro is designed for almost every type of user and each color of this phone has a unique. The Diamond Silver color variant features a dual-tone design with a plain matte finish on the top half and patterns on the bottom half, which looks freakingly cool. The Peacock Blue color variant features a unique graphic for those who prefer something bold. The EmaraldGreen color variant features subtle coloring with a matte finish that looks absolutely elegant. The lastMidnight Black variant is for those who prefer the good old classic and that’s what it is.

However, the back glass is extremely glossy and will catch a lot of fingerprints. The side frame is chamfered, making it far more comfortable to hold and use. On the front, you get a 6.78-inch AMOLED display panel with Full HD+ resolution. The panel is color-accurate and features up to 1 Billion colors. Thanks to that, watching the contents on the screen will be a delight. The panel also features up to 120Hz refresh rate support, which allows for a smoother user experience. The display is also HDR certified and has 1600 nits peak brightness when the smartphone is under direct sunlight. Furthermore, the smartphone has a slim body weighs around 192 grams, and is lightweight enough to hold the device for a long time.

Memory and Internal

Honor has put the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1SoC inside the Honor 90 Pro and it is one of the fastest Android processors to date, It can easily handle anything you run on it can reach up to a 1×3.0GHz clocking speed. The chipset is well optimized and doesn’t overheat even when running intense apps like video editing and rendering apps. Even during gaming, the smartphone gets slightly warmer and far from overheating.

The Adreno 730 GPU in the chipset is very powerful and can go neck and neck with the likes of the iPhone Pro series of smartphones. So, games such as Genshin Impact, CODm, and PUBG mobile can be played at smooth framerates with high graphics options. Thanks to the 4nm manufacturing technology and well-designed thermal solution, the GPU can deliver consistent results for longer periods of time without any throttling.

Apart from the chipset, the phone also has support for 12GB to 16GB of RAM. While the device offers 256GB to 512GB internal storage. The Honor 90 Pro also comes with a MagicOS 7.1 user interface running on top of the latest Android 13OS and it supports 5G connectivity with near gigabit speeds. With this software duo, you will receive lots of customization options on the device.

Camera

The Honor 90 Pro features a triple-camera system on the back with an impressive 200MP sensor as the main camera, a 32MP sensor as the telephoto camera, and a 12MP sensor as the ultra-wide angle camera. The main camera featuring the 200MP sensor produces great shots with a high dynamic range, exceptionally great white balance, saturated colors, and an amazing level of detail. The ultra-wide camera also managed to capture some equally amazing pictures with a wide FOV field of view. This is even achieved without any distortion around the edges which tends to happen with ultra-wide sensors.

The 32MP telephoto sensor for zoomed photography also produced some equally great results with 2.5X optical zoom. The night photography is excellent here, thanks to the use of an optimized sensor so the cameras can produce some amazing night shots and they have little to no noise in them. With this, the triple-camera setup will not disappoint you in any way and can be a decent choice for camera-centric users.

The portrait mode extends over to the selfie camera as the front camera system features an additional 2MP depth camera. The selfie camera with the 50MP ultrawide sensor manages to capture a good amount of detail with natural colors and even skin tones. When the comes to video recording, the Honor 90 Pro can shoot up to 4K videos@30FPS from both the rear and selfie camera systems. The main camera features OIS and gyro-EIS, allowing for some really stable video recording. While the selfie camera only relies on gyro-EIS for stable footage

Battery and Others

The Honor 90 Pro has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, which along with an efficient processor allows for some very conservative battery consumption. So, the smartphone can easily last about 2 days of normal day-to-day usage. With heavy gaming, the smartphone will not last a full day and require a charge before the end of the day. But there’s nothing to worry about as the smartphone is equipped with 90W of wired fast charging, which can charge the smartphone to about 56% in just 15 mins.

However, Honor went a step further with the Honor 90 Pro and also equipped it with 5W reverse wired charging support, which you can use to charge its accessories such as Bluetooth earphones. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, NFC, stereo speakers, GPS, and a USB Type C port for charging. Also, the Honor 90 Pro lacks the 3.5mm headphone jack. The price of the Honor 90 Pro starts at $467 (Rs 38,490 in India) approx. for the base variant.

Conclusion

If you want a smartphone with decent specs but don’t want to pay the premium price tag, then Honor 90 Pro is the smartphone for you. Honor implemented all the high-end and flagship-grade components it can and the end result is simply spectacular. Whether it’s the design or the display, you will fall in love right at first glance at the smartphone. To drive such a display, Honor used the Qualcomm SnapdragonSoC, which is an excellent choice and we must applaud Honor for that. The same goes for battery backup, which is more than excellent.

You may think after providing all this, Honor must have gimped the cameras in order to fit the smartphone into the budget it has launched with, but that’s not the case at all. In fact, the camera performance of the smartphone has honestly surprised us and it is way better than what we initially expected. It is the smartphone that users have been wanting in the budget section. It’s an excellent smartphone and you will love this decision. Speaking of downsides, there is a lack of wireless charging support but anyway, it would have extended the cost of the device.

However, if Honor 90 Pro smartphones are not available for sale in your country, then the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra should be the one to go for. It arrives with a bit higher price tag but offers more robust features making it a value-for-money deal. However, the final decision is up to you and your requirements so choose accordingly.
