Samsung Galaxy A23 pros and cons

Samsung Galaxy A33 Smartphone Review – The Samsung Galaxy A33 was launched in March 2022. This phone comes as a successor to the popular Galaxy A32. The smartphone is available globally in various countries, including the US and India. Bing a midrange option, Samsung has decided to provide 5G support to the smartphone which comes packed with lots of essential features.

In fact, 5G is supported on both SIMs. In terms of looks, the option looks exceptionally premium especially on the back with its matte finish. Combine the matte finish with fantastic pastel colors and the phone simply looks stunning. With that said, let’s begin with the review of the Samsung Galaxy A33 and find out if this phone is the right one for you.

Samsung Galaxy A33 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Samsung Galaxy A33 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
  2. The chipset is the powerful 5nm Exynos 1280 SoC in the Galaxy A33 5G smartphone.
  3. The phone comes pre-loaded with Android 12 OS and OneUI 4.1 user interface.
  4. The main rear camera sensor is a 48MP sensor, while the selfie camera is a 13MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a Li-Po 5000mAh battery and it supports 25W fast charging.

Design and Display

The design of the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G smartphone is quite unique compared to its competitors in the same price bucket. The flat plastic back features a matte finish along with pastel colors which gives it a very stunning appearance, especially with the slightly rounded side frame. It comes in 4 pastel-like colors, Peach, White, Blue, and Black. Each color has its own unique touch on the phone and the pastel nature of the colors makes the phone look very elegant. The curved sides and the flat back of the phone allow for more of a solid grip and decreases the chances of your new phone slipping out of your hands.

On the front of the phone, you get a gorgeous 6.4-inches Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, which allows for a smooth user experience. But the device comes with default nits brightness, so you may face problems using the device outdoors. Being an AMOLED panel, it allows for deeper black levels and vibrant colors. All in all, it’s a very fine display and it is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone also comes with an IP67 rating for water and resistance, which is mostly kept for flagship smartphones.

Memory and Internal

Let’s talk about the internal specifications of the phone. The new Samsung Galaxy A33 5G smartphone is powered by the 5nm Exynos 1280 5G Chipset, which is a powerful octa-core SoC that features main Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2x 2.4 GHz. This SoC is also very power-efficient and can run almost anything, whether that’s some content creation apps, productivity apps, or graphically intensive games such as PUBG. It does all this while consuming tiny sips of energy.

Speaking of PUBG or gaming in general, you get the Mali-G68 GPU based, which promises to provide a 20% increase in performance and 30% decrease in power usage. It can run games such as PUBG, CODm, and Genshin Impact at moderately higher graphical settings with a smooth gameplay experience. The phone comes in 4 variants which comes with a combination of 4GB / 6GB / 8GB RAM with 128 GB / 256 GB internal storage.

You can still increase the storage later with shared SIM microSD support. Being a modern SoC, the phone supports a dual 5G sim as well. The phone comes pre-installed with Android 12 OS and OneUI 4.1 UI top of it. Along with this Samsung promises to provide 4 major Android OS upgrades and 5 years of Android security updates.

Camera

The phone has a quad rear camera setup, with a 48MP as the main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensors. The 48MP wide camera is quite good and takes decent pictures with a good amount of details, and the color science is on point. Even the dynamic range under harsh sunlight is captured decently. The portrait mode pictures also look quite good with a natural bokeh effect in the background.

But the same cannot be said for the 8MP ultra-wide sensor. The pictures coming out of this sensor indeed looks nice and have a very natural color tune, but if you zoom in, you will see that it has fewer details when compared to the main camera. The 5MP macro is decent, but don’t expect DSLR-like macro photography as that is just not very realistic.

The pictures taken during the night are also impressive. The dedicated night mode takes care of almost all the noises in the photos and enhances the low-light pictures. The 13MP selfie camera is also optimized to take decent selfies with perfect skin tones. When it comes to video recording, the main rear camera can capture 4K videos at @30fps while the selfie camera can record only 1080p videos at 30fps.

Battery and Others

The phone has a huge Li-Po 5000 mAh battery along with a 25W fast charger. The high efficiency of the new 5nm Exynos processor allows the battery to run even longer than before. So, you can expect 2-day battery life with this smartphone easily on light usage. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, GPS, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and a USB Type C port. The smartphone is available at the price of $289 (Rs. 23,999 in India) approx for the base variant.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy A33 smartphone’s biggest attractions are its elegant design, beautiful display, smooth user experience, 5G, and cameras. This phone is designed with well-balanced hardware and with Samsung’s claim of 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security updates, this makes this phone one of the best mid-rangers in this price category. Getting a 5G phone would have been impossible a year ago and here we are now. Good to mention that you get IP68 water and dust resistance with this smartphone.

If a great camera, AMOLED display, and 5G are something you care about, then this phone is a good option for you. But if you want to look at an alternative, just to compare the two phones and see which phone gives you the most value, then consider the OnePlus Ace Racing smartphone with comes with a better camera setup and fast charging at almost the same price range but the final decision to buy or not is up to you.
