ZTE Blade V50 Pros and Cons

ZTE Blade V50 Smartphone Review – ZTE announced the ZTE Blade V50 in September 2023. It’s a relatively premium smartphone offering from ZTE and the smartphone will go on sale globally but ZTE hasn’t mentioned the exact regions specifically. As it is a premium smartphone, it also comes with 5g connectivity and all the other goodies that a premium smartphone should bring to the table.

ZTE even included a curved display to provide an exhilarating experience with this smartphone. On top of that, they designed the smartphone to impress. But is that going to be enough to impress you? Let’s find out with a detailed review of the ZTE Blade V50 smartphone and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

ZTE Blade V50 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The ZTE Blade V50 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.
  2. The ZTE Blade V50 has an octa-core 5G chipset for speedy performance and ultra-fast 5G connectivity.
  3. The smartphone comes with Android 13 OS for better software and feature support.
  4. The main rear camera of the smartphone has a 50MP triple-camera system with a 16MP selfie camera.
  5. The smartphone is powered by a Li-Po 4800 mAh battery with a 33W wired fast charger support.

Design and Display

The design of the smartphone is the part where ZTE spent some incredible resources and it shows. The smartphone features a very glossy surface, which provides a certain glow to the smartphone that makes it look super premium. On top of that, the choices of colors are also quite incredible. It is available in Black, Blue, and Mint color options.

It also comes with a curved side frame that provides a comfortable grip, so it won’t slip out of your hands easily. As for the display, you get a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support. It’s an FHD+ panel and it is also color-accurate. So, you will have the pleasure of watching movies and TV series on the smartphone.

Memory and Internal

The ZTE Blade V50 comes equipped with an octa-core 5G chipset. The chipset has enough raw performance for a smartphone of this price range and can run all your everyday apps and games smoothly. So, if you are a multi-tasker or a gamer, you won’t be disappointed with this smartphone. Speaking of gaming, you will be glad to know that this decent performance is also carried over to the gaming side of things.

This chipset can easily run games like PUBG mobile, CODm, and even Genshin Impact with decent graphics. As for memory and storage, the smartphone comes with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. But keep in mind that the internal storage can’t be expanded later as there’s no microSDXC expansion slot.

When it comes to the software side of things, the ZTE Blade V50 is running on Android 13 OS for better software and feature support. This should seriously enhance user experience as there are a lot of customization options. But if the smartphone had Android 14 out of the box, then would have made it even better but it is what it is.

Camera

The ZTE Blade V50 comes with a 50MP triple rear camera system. The main camera features a 50MP sensor, which can take some decently great photos with accurate color tones and high dynamic range. The details in the subject’s faces are captured and preserved accurately. This sensor also captures more light, so the photos tend to look brighter. This can be further enhanced with the night mode and elevate your night photoshoot experience. Also, a 2MP macro and depth sensor is present on this device.

There’s support for portrait mode as well and the pictures taken with it turn out great. The background bokeh looks natural with good subject separation and background blur. On the front, there’s a 16MP sensor and it can take some great selfies with perfect skin tones. As for video recording, the ZTE Blade V50 can shoot at a maximum of 1080p@30FPS from both the rear and the selfie camera.

Battery and Others

The ZTE Blade V50 has a Li-Po 4800 mAh battery that will last more than 1 – 2 days with lighter usage that includes a bit of texting, social media, and some photoshoots. But if you play a lot of games, then the battery inside the smartphone may not even last a full day. Gaming consumes a lot of resources, which causes the battery to drain faster.

But the smartphone supports 33W wired fast charging, which can fully charge the battery in just an hour and a half. This charger is also bundled inside the box. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, an under-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The ZTE Blade V50 is available at $190 (Rs 14,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The ZTE Blade V50 comes with a lot of pros. The smartphone has an elegant design that is bound to turn heads everywhere you go. Then there’s the incredible display that is color-accurate and perfect for content consumption. You will rarely find AMOLED display panels in this price range. Then there’s the 5G chipset, which provides more than decent performance for an average user.

The same goes for the camera and battery. However, no smartphone is ever really perfect and neither is this smartphone and you should know about them before buying it. The brightness of the display may not be as bright as other smartphones around the same price range. On top of that, other smartphones in the same price range provide better chipsets. Also, the camera lacks any useful secondary camera, but at least the main camera compensates for that.

But other than these few issues, the smartphone should provide a decent user experience. So, if you are someone who mainly requires a smartphone for a bit of photoshoot, social media, texting, and a bit of calling, then this smartphone makes perfect sense. However, there’s another smartphone that you may want to look at. The Xiaomi Poco M6 should provide similar specs but at a lower price tag. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
