As of now, the new smartphone has only been launched in China and is yet to see a global launch. However, judging by Redmi’s past, I think it’s safe to say that a global launch is surely in the works. This is a top-of-line 5G smartphone, which will provide gigabit speeds and higher, provided that your carrier supports it. The device arrives with robust features at an impressive pricing to attract potential buyers.

The smartphone is also known as Redmi K60 Extreme Edition. The design language of the new Redmi K60 Ultra heavily follows the Xiaomi 13 series of smartphones and it honestly looks quite elegant. But, unlike the Xiaomi 13 series, it has a much lower asking price, so it could be easily afforded by a lot of people. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra and see if it provides a valuable experience.

Design and Display

The design of the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra is strikingly similar to the Xiaomi 13 series. In fact, if we were to hand you both Redmi K60 Ultra and Xiaomi 13 Pro, you would have a tough time telling which is which and that’s a good thing. That means you are getting a similar design and build quality as that of the expensive Xiaomi 13 series at a fraction of the cost. The side frame is made of metal while the back panel is made of glass which is matte in finish, making the smartphone fingerprint-resistant. Apart from this, the device is 8.5mm slim it weighs around 204 grams.

It is available in Black, Green, and White color options. On the front, you get a 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display panel with up to 144Hz refresh rate and 2600 nits of peak brightness under direct sunlight. The panel also supports 68 Billion colors, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, meaning that it will be an absolute delight to stream content on this smartphone. The smartphone is also protected by IP68 dust and water resistance, and even the display has some sort of protection but Xiaomi hasn’t specified if it’s Corning’s Gorilla Glass, Asahi Glass, or something else. All in all, the brand makers have provided the best possible specs and configurations in the display department.

Memory and Internal

The Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra has been outfitted with the newest and Mediatek’s greatest 4nm Dimensity 9200+ SoC. This is the flagship SoC that Mediatek released this year and it can reach up to a 1×3.35GHz clocking speed, which makes it incredibly easy to run all your favorite apps on this smartphone. The app opening speed will be incredibly fast and all the contents load up super quickly. So, you can switch between multiple apps or multiple tabs inside a browser will be a lot smoother.

Whatever you do on this smartphone, it will be done in a jiffy, all thanks to the power of this incredible SoC. The SoC also has support for 5G connectivity for gigabit speeds. On top of that, the smartphone comes with the latest Android 13OS with MIUI 14 interface, for better customization options. The GPU inside this SoC, the Immortalis-G715 MC11, is quite the powerhouse and can run modern games like Genshin Impact, CODm, and PUBG with high graphics settings. For memory and storage, the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra is available with 12GB to 24GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of faster UFS 4.0 internal storage. With this, you will not face any kind of performance issues, while bloatware apps in the interface may be annoying for some users.

Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultrahas a 50MPtriplerear camera system. The primary camera has a 50MP sensor that is capable of taking some great photos with high detail levels, accurate colors, and a high dynamic range. The highlights in the shadows are captured properly and ultimately make for an amazing shot. Then there’s the ultra-wide camera with an 8MP sensor. It also manages to take decent shots with a wide 119˚ field of view, which is perfect for group selfies. Apart from this, there is a 2MP macro lens in the trio.

The primary rear sensor is also properly optimized for night mode and takes some amazing photographs during the night. The sensor is now capable of capturing more light than ever, so many photos taken during this period tend to have higher detail levels and easily defeat other smartphones in the same category. On the front, there’s a selfie camera that has a capable 20MP sensor that takes some great selfies with perfect skin tones.

For video recording, the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultracan shoots up to 8K@24FPS from the main rear camera. However, the same cannot be said for the selfie camera on the front. It only manages to shoot at a maximum of 1080p@120FPS. Also, the rear camera has support for both OIS and gyro-EIS, which means any footage you shoot on this smartphone’s cameras will be very stable, but the selfie camera misses out on both.

Battery and Others

Xiaomi has included aLi-Po 5000 mAh battery for the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra. It’s a high-capacity that can easily last about 1 – 2 days on lighter usage. But if you are a heavy user or play a lot of games, then the smartphone may not last a full day. The exact battery backup you get will depend on the type of apps you use and how long you use them. When it comes to charging, the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultrasupports 120W of wired fast charging.

Xiaomi claims that the battery will reach 100% in just about 19 – 20 minutes with this fast charger, which is truly a sight to see. This will be particularly helpful when you are late for work and need to quickly charge your smartphone. Apart from that, the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra also has an under-display fingerprint sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, NFC, stereo speakers, GPS, and a USB Type C port for charging. Conclusion

Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra has a stunning display, flagship SoC, massive battery, and a lot more to ensure a superb experience. So, if you are someone who prioritizes design, display, performance, and gaming, then the Redmi K60 Ultra provides incredible value for you, especially considering the price tag. It even has a fast and efficient 5G networking capable of gigabit speeds.

However, not everything is as rosy as it seems. The camera system while decent lacks severely compared to other smartphones around the same price tag. The camera system is the biggest weak link in the smartphone. So, if the camera is a priority for you, then this smartphone doesn’t make a lot of sense for you. For a better camera experience, the Samsung Galaxy A54 and the Nothing Phone (1) sound much better choices and are available at similar price tags.

But if you manage with the average camera but require powerful internals for gaming, then the Redmi K60 Ultra will be a joy to use. Apart from the camera, the device excels in each and every department. However, the final decision is up to you and your requirements.
