ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 Pro Review, Pros and Cons – Nubia smartphones are on top in terms of gaming phones, whenever they launch, they create a bang in the market. Like most smartphones for mid-range games, the ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 Pro smartphone comes with many features, a heavy custom layer, a generic cooling system and 5G connectivity. All of this is compressed into a single device, and you’ll also be surprised by the performance.
There are minor changes to the battery and storage section on both ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 and 6 Pro smartphones, except that you won’t find any difference. If we compare the price you will find a big difference, so in our opinion the ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 is the best smartphone.
ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 Pro smartphone, the successor to the Red Magic 5s Pro, is available for sale from March 11. Fortunately, the device is available for the global market with minimal changes to the interface. With that said, we are going to review the ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 Pro smartphone.
ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 and 6 Pro Review
- The phone features a 6.8 inches AMOLED display panel that brings the world’s fastest 165Hz refresh rate without HDR 10 support.
- In terms of processing unit, Red Magic is compliant with power via the Snapdragon 888 beast chipset.
- There are fascinating game-related features within the Redmagic 4.0 user interface based on Android 11 OS.
- As for the sound system, the audio output is brilliant and you will not notice any audio distortion.
- The internal variant comes with a Li-Po 5050 mAh battery with fast charging of 66W, while the Chinese version offers a Li-Po 4500 mAh battery along with fast charging of 120W.
- A triple-camera board features a 64 MP main camera on the rear panel and on the front it has a small 8 MP selfie camera.
Design and Display
The built brands of ZTE nubia make the day for being a combination of glass and metal with a sophisticated design with a touch of RGB and LED strips, it makes this phone unique. However, the nubia logo looks a little disappointing, as it doesn’t offer the RGB configuration there. But the strips look pretty cool. In addition, the aesthetic layout compresses a beautiful appearance.
While the shade option contemplates the charm, Eclipse Black has an elegant design, and as for the Moon Silver color, you will get a bit rough. If you look from above, you can see that the Sliver variant looks awesome gaming smartphone.
There are dedicated game mode buttons with air triggers ready to improve gameplay. In addition, haptic vibration is also very good. By the way, you will receive a Full HD AMOLED panel of 6.8 inches of saturation of 1 billion colors. With this screen, you will have no problems when consuming heavy media or streaming content online.
As for the game factor, the 165Hz refresh rate and 500 Hz touch sampling play a significant role in bringing the quality experience into your hands. Touch sampling can be reduced to 360 Hz for multitouch sampling. You can operate from 165 Hz to 60 Hz in the manual while the company has not implemented an auto-adaptive rate for different scenarios.
On the other hand, the phone has the Corning Gorilla Glass shield and offers face recognition and fingerprint scanner for security features under the screen. Although the sharpness of the HDR contrast is somewhat lacking, and the brightness rating is comparatively low. However, all of this is overshadowed by the performance and cooling features.
Memory and Internal
On the right side of the panel, you will notice two heat vents that remove the extra heat through the fan. It is not a trick and, unlike most high-end brands, it acquires a seven-layer cooling system. For additional cooling, you can also purchase fan accessories, as the built-in fan is noisier and can disrupt the user experience.
For the software layers, the interface of Android 11 and Red Magic 4.0 UI are fully customized according to the gamer’s needs, the advanced features of the game mode allow you to block all types of messages and notifications. In addition, you can easily see your phone’s performance, clock, and graph statistics. Except, there is no feature related to battery optimization.
In terms of performance, the hardware suite equips the powerful 5nm – Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. Being the most powerful chipset this year, you will face no problems and have a perfectly smooth performance as you wander through different parts of the system. The Adreno 660 graphics unit handles everything perfectly, so you can play at the highest settings.
On the other hand, the ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 Pro smartphone comes in four variants. Starting with the lowest, the RAM comes in the set of 12GB, 16GB, and 18GB. As for internal storage, the basic variant starts with UFS 3.1 of 128 GB of storage that goes up to 256 GB, then 512 GB in the superior model. Although the phone had no secondary storage options available.
We didn’t expect anything special from the camera section. But the triple camera gives you a slight hope that you can capture beautiful photos, except that clicking on wide-angle photos would still be terrible. Although the AI camera software has been updated. You will gain tons of features, modes, and filters in the native camera app.
Fortunately, you will get a 64MP Sony IMAX primary sensor that will provide immersive details in the photos and render the 8K video recording. On that note, it also provides slow-motion video recording and a 1080p time-lapse. However, it is a surprise that the Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro did not insert the gyro-EIS stabilization software. In the selfie department, the 8MP ultra-wide provides a 120-degree view.
But in real-life tests, it’s not that good. You will have difficulty taking pictures and videos at a wide-angle. Despite this, the useless 2MP maco lens works impressively in close-up and portrait shots. Although, the biggest disgrace would be an 8 MP selfie camera. Not only that, you will have fewer image pixels but also, the camera holds only 1080p video recording.
Battery and Others
The outline of the battery section is different for China and for the global version. A Li-Po 4500 mAh battery comes with a 120W fast charge provides a fabulous 5 hours of screen time, while the phone only takes 17 minutes or less to charge the battery. But don’t get your hopes up, as this version is exclusive to China only. As for the global version, you have a Li-Po 5050 mAh battery supported by a set of 66W fast charging.
In addition, this 66W charger is less likely to enter the box. Most likely, you will have to buy it from retailers. With the configuration of the global version, the ZTE nubia Red Magic 6 Pro smartphone can remain active for a few days on a single charge. The price of the 16GB RAM with 256GB storage variant is around $ 730 (Rs 53,000) approx, and the cost seems very acceptable compared to the specs – while the highest variant costs around $800 or more.
