Samsung Galaxy A54 Pros and Cons

Samsung Galaxy M54 Review – The Samsung Galaxy M54 was silently launched in the Middle East and some other markets. Why Samsung chose not to have a fancy launch will be a mystery for now, but the company does have plans to release the smartphone in other markets, including India, where Samsung’s mid-range phones sell quite well.

The Samsung Galaxy M54 smartphone brings some upgrades over the last year’s model, including the design, camera, and performance. But these upgrades need to be significant enough to convince users to buy the new model over the older model, which is available at a cheaper rate. With that said, let’s head toward the Samsung Galaxy M54 review to find out more details about this phone.

Samsung Galaxy M54 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Samsung Galaxy M54 smartphone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz high refresh rate.
  2. The chipset inside the phone is the 5nmExynos 1380 octa-core SoC clocked at 4x 2.2GHz.
  3. The phone arrives with Android 13OS out-of-the-box with OneUI 5.1 for more customization options.
  4. The main rear camera sensor has a 108MP sensor, while the selfie camera has a 32MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a Li-Po 6000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging.

Design and Display

The design of the Samsung Galaxy M54 smartphone follows the S23 series that launched early this year. It has the same three-camera pattern that you see in the S23 series. The whole construction of the phone, including the back and sides, is made out of plastic. It doesn’t look cheap and its internal structure is very strong. The chances of the phone breaking or bending are next to nothing. The matte finish of the back is also a plus point that many phones with glassy phones don’t have.

Coming to the display, the phone features a gorgeous 6.7-inches Super AMOLED Plus display with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hzhigh refresh rate for a silky smooth user experience. The display features gorgeous colors and it will not disappoint. To put a cherry on top, the display is even protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Even the bezels of the phone are quite narrow, giving the user a very seamless experience. The Galaxy M54 smartphone comes in Dark Blue and Silver color options.

Memory and Internal

The Samsung Galaxy M54 smartphone is powered by the new Exynos 1380 5G chipset, which is a considerable upgrade over the Exynos 1280 chipset that was found in smartphones such as the Galaxy A53. The 5G moniker in the name also means that this chipset has support for 5G connectivity. The processor comes with an octa-core CPU configuration, which can clock upto4x2.4Ghz and the GPU featured in the smartphone is Mali-G68 MC4. The chipset has enough computational and graphical to keep all your daily apps running fast and smoothly.

There will hardly be any lags or jitters in your day-to-day experience. When it comes to the software, the phone runs on Android 13 OS with OneUI 5.1 customization. Let’s take a look at the memory configurations, the Galaxy M54 smartphone comes in 2 memory and storage configurations, such as 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. There’s even support for shared SIM microSD slots as well, which is just amazing.

Camera

The phone has a triple-camera setup, with a 108MP sensor as the main camera,8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro camera. The pictures from the main camera are excellent with good enough detail, great dynamic range, superior white balance, and saturated colors. Samsung never disappoints with their camera, even in their mid-range lineup. Even the portrait mode pictures are great. The background bokeh is very natural and the edges around the human subject blend in perfectly with AI.

Even during the night, the Galaxy M54 doesn’t disappoint because it has an LED flash. The sensor manages to capture enough light in the background, which when combined with the night mode, provides-decent results. But, if the lighting gets really dark, images can suffer a bit and there will be a drop in colors and detail levels. Also, the 32MP selfie camera can take decent selfies and the picture quality is good enough to post on social media without needing to apply any filters.

When it comes to video recording, both the rear camera and the selfie camera can record maxes 4K@30fps resolution. But if you need 60FPS video recording, you will have no other option than to drop the resolution to 1080p. The phone also doesn’t have OIS and EIS support, so the video footage can be quite shaky, especially if you walk while shooting.

Battery and Others

The new Samsung Galaxy M54 smartphone has a Li-Po6000mAh battery which can easily last up to 2 days with light to moderate usage. When use heavily, the battery will last one day, thanks to the use of a power-efficient chipset and a huge battery capacity. It won’t be easy to drain this battery but when you do run out of juice, you will be happy to know that there’s support for 25W wired fast charging.

However, you won’t get any chargers in the box and you will have to buy a charger separately, preferably the 25W model. On top of this, the phone also lacks support for wireless charging. The phone also has dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C 2.0 connector for charging. The Samsung Galaxy M54 smartphone cost around $463 (Rs 37,999 in India) approx for the base variant.

Conclusion

The phone has all the right specs to make it an attractive value-for-money choice for new smartphone buyers, including the 5G connectivity, AMOLED display, new design, upgraded processor, and new camera setup. The smartphone hits all the right checkmarks and that too at a price that will be competitive if you consider the pricing of the last year’s model.

However, we would recommend that you take a look at its competitors before you make a final decision and there’s a good reason for that. While the price does seem justified considering the specs it has, the smartphones released by the competitors are also equally good and often available at a much lower price tag compared to the Galaxy M54.So, keep an open mind when you go to the market looking for a smartphone. But, if you do choose the Galaxy M54, it will still be a great purchase nonetheless. If you are looking for an alternative option, we would suggest you check out the Oppo Reno 8T 5G smartphone it comes with decent specs in a lower price range.
