Samsung Galaxy A53

Samsung Galaxy A53 Smartphone Review – The Samsung Galaxy A53 smartphone was launched globally in March 2022, as a successor to the Galaxy A52S. Samsung’s A series of phones always had a certain quality and premium aesthetics that is usually only seen on their S series of smartphones.

Being a successor to the Galaxy A52S, the Galaxy A53 retains the 5G support. In terms of design, the new phone is mostly similar to that of its predecessor, but it brings improvements in other areas. But at the end of the day, it all depends on the pricing. With that said, let’s begin with the review of the Samsung Galaxy A53 smartphone.

  3. The phone comes with the latest Android 12 OS out-of-the-box with OneUI 4.1 user interface.
  4. The phone has a 64MP quad-rear camera while the selfie camera is a 32MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a Li-Po 5000mAh battery and it supports 25W fast charging.

Design and Display

The design of the Samsung Galaxy A53 remains the same as its predecessor, for the most part, except for one tiny detail. The back of the new phone is completely flat, while its predecessor had a slight curve. Contrary to popular belief, the new phone’s flat back allows for a more solid grip.

So, the chances of your new phone slipping out of your hands is next to nothing. The sides are, however, slightly curved and have a very mirror-like finish, giving the phone a very elegant look. The phone comes in some fantastic colors such as Peach, White, Blue, and Black.

As for the front of the phone, you get a gorgeous 6.5 inches Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display can get adequately bright with 800 nits HBM brightness and it is perfectly visible under harsh sunlight. The phone also comes with an IP67 dust and water resistance. All in all, you get a very wholesome package.

Memory and Internal

Let’s talk about internals now, the Samsung Galaxy A53 is powered by the 5nm Exynos 1280 5G SoC. This is a powerful octa-core SoC that can run almost anything without breaking a sweat and can reach up to a 2.4GHz clocking speed. You can carry out daily tasks and play heavy games such as COD, and BGMI at higher graphic settings.

The 120Hz refresh rate will improve your gaming experience to the next level while the Mali-G68 GPU is there for decent graphic rendering on the phone. Besides this, you get the latest Android 12 OS and OneUI 4.1 user interface for software layering. With this duo, you get the latest features, security patches, and no bloatware applications.

The phone comes in 4 variants, including 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM with 128GB/256GB internal storage. If you buy the lower storage variant, you can still upgrade the storage later as the phone supports a hybrid microSD card slot. Furthermore, you also get 5G connectivity with these internals and the device assures you a power-packed performance for all your needs.

Camera

The phone has a quad-rear camera setup, with a 64MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and two 5MP macro and depth sensors. The quality coming out of the sensor has certainly impressed us, especially the 64MP sensor. It is well optimized and can take decent pictures with a good amount of detail and perfect color balance. The portrait mode pictures also look quite good with a natural bokeh effect in the background.

Even the dynamic range is quite decent under harsh sunlight. The same goes for the 12MP ultra-wide sensor and the pictures coming out of this sensor have a good amount of details and a very natural skin tone. Pictures taken during the night are also quite impressive. The dedicated night mode eliminates almost all the noises in the photos and the end results show very promising results you can post them on social media withing editing.

The 32MP selfie camera is also properly optimized to take very decent selfies with perfect skin tones. This sensor manages to capture a lot of light, which makes the images look very bright and captures a good amount of details. When it comes to video recording, both the cameras can record 4K videos at 30fps, while there is also gyro-EIS support on the main camera.

Battery and Others

The Samsung Galaxy A53 smartphone has a massive Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, which can provide 3+ hours of gaming and 5+ hours of screen time. When you need to charge the phone, you get the 25W fast-charging support. The phone doesn’t come with support for reverse or wireless charging, which might disappoint some users.

Overall, the price range is high and this feature is available on other phones from other brands. The phone also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C charging port. The smartphone is available for $315 (Rs 32,490 in India) approx. for the base variant.

Conclusion

While this smartphone has many strengths such as an elegant design, impressive display, and great cameras, alongside a massive battery and 5G connectivity. The phone doesn’t look underwhelming in any way. Though there are some compromises such as missing wireless charging and reverse charging support, still the device specs are quite appreciable as you get a decent all-around package.

The only concern for this smartphone is a bit high pricing, so you must check for alternatives such as the Realme Narzo 50 Pro which comes with similar specs in a decent price range, however, the final decision is up to you.
