Design and Display

Both Realme GT5 and Realme GT5 240Wsport the same design with the same color options. The difference between the two models lies in the internal. Externally, both devices feature the glass back and aluminum frame design that is found in all flagships. The texture of the glass surface is matte in nature, so it feels solid in hand. The new smartphones are available in two colors, Flowing Silver and Starry Oasis. Both colors feature a matte finish, but the Flowing Silver color looks more glossy than the other one.

However, that’s due to the nature of the color and not the texture of the glass. So, if you are not a fan of gloss, don’t worry as the gloss is on a subtle side. The curved sides also make these smartphones a lot more comfortable to hold in the long run. On the front, both smartphones feature a 6.74-inch AMOLED display panel. It’s an FHD+ panel with up to 144Hz refresh rate, 1 Billion colors support, and HDR10+ certification. The panel can get up to 1400 nits of peak brightness under peak sunlight, so outdoor visibility shouldn’t be an issue. Overall, the display department is satisfactory and doesn’t underwhelm you in any way. Furthermore, the device has 8.9mm thickness and weighs around 205 grams.

Memory and Internal

Previously, Realme has put the newest and greatest processors in the Realme GT series of smartphones and that hasn’t changed with the GT5 and GT5 240W. The new smartphones feature the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is the fastest Android processor in the world. With such a processor, you won’t have to worry about lags, or slowdowns when you are using the smartphone. You will have a blast of time experiencing this smartphone and you will not see a single issue, whether that’s during normal day-to-day apps or gaming. Speaking of gaming, the new processor features Adreno 740GPU, which is also the most powerful GPU when it comes to Android smartphones. Apart from this, both smartphones can reach up to a 1×3.2GHz clocking speed.

Also, the new smartphones manage to provide such performance without much heating or throttling. So, games such as Genshin Impact, CODm, and PUBG mobile can be played at smooth framerates with High graphics options.

Let’s talk about memory and storage, and this is one area where the two models differ. The Realme GT5 phone has support for 12GB to 16GB of RAM and 256GB to 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. But the Realme GT5240W comes with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. Now, that’s just wild. Both smartphones come with RealmeUI 4.0 interface running on top of the latest Android 13OS. With this, you will receive lots of customization support on the device skin. Also, both smartphones support 5G connectivity with gigabit speeds for super-speed internet connectivity.

Camera

Both Realme GT5 and Realme GT5 240W have the same triple camera setup, and that includes a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor. Their main 50MP camera sensor produces some exceptionally good shots with high dynamic range and a decent level of detail. However, the same cannot be said about the 8MP ultra-wide camera. A camera with 8MP is not enough for ultra-wide pictures.

It’s ultra-wide, meaning it’s wider than normal pictures and if 8MP is not enough for normal shots, it cannot be enough for ultra-wide shots. So, the ultra-wide shots are softer than usual and also lack the high details, but there’s no color shift and other stuff seems fine. But taking pictures at night is not bad, thanks to the 50MP main sensor and the night mode algorithm that is optimized for some amazing night shots.

The portrait mode also does great and the bokeh looks quite natural. On the front, you will get the 16MP selfie camera. This 16MP sensor is no slouch either and manages to capture a good amount of detail with natural colors and even skin tones. When the comes to video recording, both smartphones can shoot up to 4Kvideos@60FPS from the main rear camera, while the selfie camera is maxed out at 1080P@30FPS. The main camera of both smartphones features OIS and gyro-EIS, which helps record stable footage, while the front camera of both arrives with gyro-EIS support. All in all, both the devices are not camera-centric smartphones, however, you will not face any issues with the camera department.

Battery and Others

The Realme GT5 and Realme GT5 240W features Li-Po 5240 mAh and Li-Po 4600 mAh battery respectively. While both smartphones will provide 1 – 2 days of battery life, the Realme GT5 will provide slightly more battery life than the Realme GT5 240W, but where it wins is the charging speed. The Realme GT5 and Realme GT5 240W have 150W and 240W fast-wired charging support respectively.

The 150W charger can charge the Realme GT5 from 0 – 50% in just 7 minutes, while the 240W charger can charge the Realme GT5 240W from 0 to around 65% in just 7 minutes. That’s the thing about the two models. One provides slightly higher battery life, while the other provides a better charging speed and reduces charging time. Realistically, with lighter usage, both smartphones will easily last about 2 days, but if there’s gaming involved, the smartphone may not last a full day.

Apart from that, the new smartphones come with an under-display fingerprint sensor, the newest Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, an Infrared sensor, stereo speakers, and a USB Type C port for charging. The price of the Realme GT5 starts at $380 (Rs 31,590 in India) approx. while the Realme GT5 240W has a price tag of $480 (Rs 39,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion

If you want a flagship smartphone with the latest and greatest specs but you are under a tight budget, then the new Realme GT5 and GT5 240W smartphones are the best flagship choices for you at this moment. These smartphones not only provide the best processor for a speedy user experience and superior gaming but also provide other equally capable components to serve a great user experience. That’s all Realme wanted. They wanted to cater this smartphone to the niche mobile gaming industry and we believe they have cracked the formula. Apart from this, the smartphone also arrives with a balanced camera setup. Speaking of downsides, there is the absence of fast wireless charging and reverse charging support on the device. Anyways, the device performs well enough in all departments.

And they did so at a price that is simply unbeatable. That’s what makes this smartphone so appealing. So, if you are an enthusiast, gamer, or multi-tasker, then you have two new choices of smartphones at an attractive price point. However, if you are not a fan of Realme, then the Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro is an alternative smartphone that has similar power levels and comes at a similar price tag. But, if you can wait a little while, then the Xiaomi Black Shark 6 could launch soon. So, keep an eye out for that one as well. Anyway, the final decision is up to you and your requirements.
