Design and Display

The Oukitel WP33 Pro is designed with toughness in mind and it shows. It is built like a tank and comes with MIL-STD-810H certification, making it one of the best-rugged smartphones for industrial use. On the rear, it has a large module that you mistake for the camera module but it’s not that. Instead, it’s a module that holds a high-res and high-powered loudspeaker. The cameras can be found all around this loudspeaker module.

As it is a rugged smartphone, it is built with materials that can withstand some serious force, so the smartphone is also thicker. It can easily withstand drops as high as 1.5 meters. The smartphone is also protected with the IP68/IP69K dust and water resistance, making it resistant to dust and water. Even the display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which ensures the smartphone is protected all around.

Speaking of the display, you get a 6.6-inch IPS LCD for the main screen with FHD+ resolution. This is where a lot of smartphone manufacturers cheap out by opting for an HD+ panel, but that’s not the case here. You get all the beauty of the FHD+ panel and all its goodness. The display also gets as bright as 450 nits under direct sunlight.

Memory and Internal

The Oukitel WP33 Pro is outfitted with 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ octa-core 5G SoC. This is a newly released high-performance SoC that is new in the rugged smartphone industry. Most rugged smartphones tend to have older chipsets but that’s not the case here. This octa-core chipset is capable of delivering clock speeds of 2×2.2 GHz, which is more than enough to provide a fast and smooth user experience.

This chipset also has a great GPU called the Mali-G57 MC2, which can run your favorite games such as PUBG Mobile, CODm, and even Genshin Impact at relatively smooth framerates. As for RAM and Storage, the smartphone has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of fast UFS 2.2 storage. This should be adequate for most users but if not, you will have to look for a different smartphone as there’s no dedicated MicroSDXC expansion slot.

Camera

Oukitel has provided the Oukitel WP33 Pro with a 64MP triple rear camera system. The main camera features a 64MP sensor, which can take some decently great photos with accurate color tones and high dynamic range. The details in the subject’s faces are captured and preserved accurately. We certainly didn’t expect such great camera quality here and this smartphone has surpassed our expectations.

The secondary camera is the night vision camera, which is very essential in industrial applications. It can also be used for taking pictures but these pictures come out in grayscale as the night vision camera system uses infrared rays to illuminate the scene and get the image. So, you can take pictures and record videos in pitch black environment. The night vision camera has a 20MP sensor and it provides a solid night camera experience.

On the front of the Oukitel WP33 Pro, there’s a 32MP selfie camera that can take some great selfies with accurate skin tone and high detail levels. For video recording, the phone manages to shoot with 1440P@30FPS resolution from the rear cameras but the selfie cameras maxes out at 1080P@30FPS resolution.

Battery and Others

The Oukitel WP33 Pro has a huge Li-Po 22000 mAh battery. This is a battery with extraordinary capacity and its battery backup is on a different level. No matter whether you are a light user or a heavy user, this smartphone will easily survive a full working week on a single charge. This is quite important if you are someone who works in factories and hazardous workplaces.

If you are a light user and mostly use it for some calls, social media, and texting, it may last multiple weeks on a single. This is perfect for people who often forget to charge their smartphones. However, recharging the battery is not fast by any means. Oukitel has provided a 33W wired fast charger but even then it will still take several hours to fully charge the smartphone. The smartphone also supports 18W reverse fast charging and you can use this smartphone as a power bank to charge other smartphones and accessories.

When it comes to sound, this smartphone has a high-res and high-power audio system at the rear side. It’s a 5W speaker, so its sound is very rich and loud. Apart from that, the smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and even a USB Type-C connector for charging. The Oukitel WP33 Pro is available for purchase at $250 (Rs 20,790 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Oukitel WP33 Pro is certainly a premium rugged smartphone that provides a lot of features and capabilities that are not seen in a rugged smartphone in this price range. The pros of this smartphone include the display, chipset, 5G connectivity, camera, night vision camera, sound, and most importantly battery. But it is not without its cons. The lack of high refresh rate support for the display, microSD expansion slot, and faster charging support stains the otherwise great experience of the smartphone. Don’t get us wrong.

But considering the price point, the smartphone is more than acceptable despite the cons. But is this smartphone for you? That depends on whether the features provided by the smartphone are enough for you. If what you see in the Oukitel WP33 Pro is enough for you and don’t mind the cons, then you can go for this smartphone. But if the cons are a dealbreaker for you, especially the lack of high refresh rate support, then this smartphone is not for you.

The Ulefone Armor 24 is the smartphone to go for in that case. It addresses all the cons of the Oukitel WP33 Pro while costing lower. But the Ulefone Armor 24 doesn’t have the same sound performance as the Oukitel WP33 Pro. However, the final decision is up to you, so choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
