Oukitel WP32

Oukitel WP32 Smartphone Review – Released in November 2023, the Oukitel WP32 is Oukitel’s newest rugged smartphone. The new smartphone was designed to offer a new and competitive option for the rugged smartphone in the budget segment. The smartphone is available globally and comes with a new and exciting design for new users. However, the new smartphone doesn’t have 5G connectivity.

Oukitel had to make this decision to ensure they could keep the prices low enough to make it an attractive buying option for budget users. Where they didn’t compromise is the design department. These smartphone features an attractive design and have a lot going for them. So, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Oukitel WP32 and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Oukitel WP32 Smartphone Review

  1. The Oukitel WP32 features a 5.93-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution and a relatively tall 18:9 aspect ratio.
  2. The Oukitel WP32 has the Unisoc UMS9230 4G chipset with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz.
  3. The smartphone comes pre-loaded with Android 13 out of the box with the stock user interface.
  4. The Oukitel  WP32 has a 20MP rear camera system. For the selfies, the smartphone has a 5MP sensor.
  5. The Oukitel WP32 has a Li-Po 6300 mAh long-lasting battery.

Design and Display

The design of the Oukitel WP32 is not too different from other rugged smartphones. But has some nice neon-like accent colors that make it stand out compared to other rugged smartphones. It’s made of durable materials to ensure the smartphone can survive any harsh conditions for which the smartphone is designed.

The smartphone has been certified with MIL-STD-810H, which goes to show just how well-built the smartphone is and can survive almost anything you throw at it. The smartphone also has IP68/IP69K certification, so it can easily survive against dust, water, and water jets. As for the screen, you get a 5.93-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution.

If it had an FHD+ display, it would have been certainly better but considering the extremely budget nature of the smartphone, it is acceptable. The display has a relatively tall 18:9 aspect ratio, which allows for more vertical content to be displayed on screen, so reading articles on the web will be a lot better. However, the display has no protection against scratches.

Memory and Internal

The Oukitel WP32 is designed with the Unisoc UMS9230 4G chipset, which has a clock speed of 2.0 GHz. It’s an octa-core chipset and can run all your apps and everything you need to do on a smartphone, including emails, texting, GPS, and more. It may not be very speedy compared to today’s chipsets but it runs almost all the apps and gets the jobs done.

However, the smartphone has no 5G connectivity and is limited to 4G. Also, don’t expect to play games like PUBG Mobile or something. It is not a gaming chipset and cannot run such demanding games. But it can surely run some lightweight games like Candy Crush. For RAM and storage, Oukitel WP32 is available with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

When it comes to the software side of things, the new smartphones are running on Android 13 with a stock user interface for a clean, simple, bloatware-free, and pleasant user experience. This will ensure you get the most out of the hardware.

Camera

The Oukitel WP32 features a 20MP rear camera system. The main sensor of the smartphone is capable of producing some decent pictures with great clarity, details, and color tone. But it will challenge the likes of Redmi Note 12 or something similar. It produces better and brighter images. The pictures are quite good considering the price you paid for.

On the front, the Oukitel WP32 features a 5MP selfie camera, which produces selfies that have enough details to post on social media. As for video recording, both rear and selfie cameras can record videos at a maximum of 1080P@30FPS resolution. The smartphone has no video stabilization options, unfortunately.

Battery and Others

The Oukitel WP32 has a Li-Po 6300mAh long-lasting battery, which should provide 3 – 6 days’ worth of battery life depending on how you use the smartphone. With low to medium usage, the smartphone should last 4 – 5 days. While high usage and/or gaming will drain the battery faster and may still last 2 – 3 days. However, there’s no mention of fast charging, so don’t expect that.

With standard charging, it could take as much as 4 hours to fully charge the smartphone. So, overnight charging would be the best way to charge the smartphone. Apart from that, the smartphone has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The Oukitel WP32 is available starting at $110 (Rs 9,190 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Oukitel WP32 is a decent smartphone and provides some healthy competition back to the rugged smartphone in the budget segment. However, one may argue that at the price this smartphone asks for, there are far better smartphones with better chipsets, high refresh rate displays, and even better cameras. But none of those smartphones are built this strong.

None of them can survive a drop to the pool or a direct drop to concrete floors. This smartphone is meant to provide the best display or the speediest performance. It is a smartphone for industrial workers who have dangerous jobs and an ordinary smartphone can never survive such an extreme environment.

That’s what this smartphone does and it has a whole lot to offer. However, 5G is not one of them, so keep that in mind. But if you can’t find this smartphone in your country, then we have an alternative option for you. The Ulefone Armor X12 Pro, released a few months back, is an excellent alternative that is available at a similar price.
