Design and Display

The Oukitel WP30 Pro is built like a tank. It’s a rugged smartphone after all, so you can excuse its rugged appearance. It doesn’t bring anything special to the design and plays it safe. Many users prefer a rugged smartphone that’s subtle and not too eye-catching and the Oukitel WP30 Pro will certainly satisfy these users. Due to the nature of the material used in the smartphone, it is quite strong and heavy on the hand.

The Oukitel WP30 Pro is available for purchase in only Black color option. It has a MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification, so the smartphone can even survive a fall to the concrete floor from heights up to 1.5m. This goes to show just how rugged the smartphone is. Oukitel took it a step further and even added the IP68/IP69K certification, making the smartphone resistant to dust, water, and even water jet sprays.

The smartphone has a display on the rear that you can use to quickly view the time, notifications, or anything else you may have set for the secondary display. This is a 1.8-inch AMOLED panel with 390 x 450 pixels resolution and 500 nits of peak brightness. Speaking of displays, you will get a 6.78-inch IPS LCD for the main screen with FHD+ resolution.

The display can boost up to 120Hz high refresh rate for a smoother user experience. The inclusion of a high refresh rate certainly adds a premium touch to the smartphone. The display gets plenty bright at 430 nits of brightness and is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Memory and Internal

The Oukitel WP30 Pro comes with 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 8050 octa-core 5G SoC. Oukitel managed to provide a high-end performance-oriented SoC that will change the game in the rugged smartphone industry and bring some tough competition to the likes of Samsung Galaxy X cover 6 Pro. This chipset will easily run all your favorite apps without any issues but don’t expect any miracles or speedy performance.

The chipset has a clock speed of 1×3.0 GHz, which goes to show just how much raw performance this chipset has to offer. The chipset even has a gaming-grade GPU called the Mali-G77 MC9. It’s a nine-core GPU that will accelerate all of your graphics-intensive tasks and can even run your favorite games such as PUBG Mobile, CODm, and even Genshin Impact at smooth framerates.

The smartphone also doesn’t heat a lot due to the large size of the smartphone, leading to better heat dissipation and an efficient 6nm manufacturing process. As for RAM and Storage, the smartphone has 12 GB of RAM and 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage. This will be adequate for most users, so Oukitel decided not to implement a dedicated MicroSDXC expansion slot.

Camera

The Oukitel WP30 Pro has a 108MP triple rear camera system. The primary camera can capture pictures with enough detail, great dynamic range, superior white balance, and saturated colors. The portrait mode pictures are also quite good. The background bokeh is natural and the edges around the human subject blend in with the background blur accurately.

This camera will take care of all your photographic needs during the day. But when the sun sets, the secondary night vision camera with a 20MP sensor will take over and provide the best night camera experience ever. Multiple infrared lights illuminate the whole environment and the night vision can then capture the images with perfect detail levels.

There’s a 5MP macro sensor as well and it’s average at best. It will get the job done but it’s not going to be nominated for any camera performances. On the front of the Oukitel WP30 Pro, there’s a 32MP selfie camera that can take decent selfies and can be posted on social media without needing to apply any filters.

This sensor is quite decent and manages to capture a decent level of detail in the selfies with a natural skin tone. For video recording, the phone manages to shoot with 4K@30FPS resolution from the rear cameras but the selfie cameras maxes out at 1080P@30FPS resolution.

Battery and Others

The Oukitel WP30 Pro has a huge Li-Po 11000 mAh battery, which allows the smartphone to last for as long as a week on a single charge. This smartphone has what it takes to survive a full working week, which can be perfect for people who work in industrial environments. The battery will last for several days even if you play a lot of games and watch movies for hours. However, recharging such a huge battery is not without its downsides and Oukitel understands that completely.

So, they have incorporated a 120W super fast wired charging that can charge the smartphone to 50% in just 15 minutes and a full 100% in just 50 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and even a USB Type-C connector for charging. The Oukitel WP30 Pro is available for purchase at $400 (Rs 33,300 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Oukitel WP30 Pro is a high-end rugged smartphone that even beats the likes of the Ulefone Power Armor 18 Ultra that previously occupied the top spot. The Oukitel WP30 Pro has better specs than the Ulefone counterpart and comes with stock Android, which is an advantage of its own depending on who would ask. The smartphone has all the features you could ask for in a rugged smartphone and it will serve you all.

As we have said before, its only competition is the Ulefone Power Armor 18 Ultra. It’s not a fair fight as the Oukitel smartphone is a lot more powerful than the Ulefone counterpart and at a lower price tag. However, the final decision is up to you, so choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
