OnePlus Nord N30 SE

OnePlus Nord N30 SE Smartphone Review – OnePlus announced the OnePlus Nord N30 SE in January 2024 and the smartphone went on sale at the end of that month. The smartphone will be released globally and will be available in many countries. As it is launching in 2024, it has many new technologies, including 5G connectivity and a lot more. Also, the new smartphone looks similar to the Oppo A79.

People may even think they are carbon-copy of each other and they wouldn’t be wrong. That’s because they are the same. OnePlus didn’t even bother to bring in a new coat of paint. So, they both have the same color options. But design isn’t everything. OnePlus says that this smartphone has a whole lot more than that. So, let’s find out with a detailed review of the OnePlus Nord N30 SE smartphone and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

OnePlus Nord N30 SE Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The OnePlus Nord N30 SE has a 6.72-inch IPS display with FHD+ resolution.
  2. The OnePlus Nord N30 SE has the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 6020 5G chipset that is capable of reaching up to 2×2.2 GHz clock speeds.
  3. The smartphone comes with Android 13 OS with an OxygenOS 13.1 user interface that has a lot of features.
  4. The main rear camera of the smartphone has a 50MP dual camera system with an 8MP selfie camera at the front.
  5. The smartphone is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with a 33W wired fast charger support.

Design and Display

The design of the OnePlus Nord N30 SE is eerily similar to the Oppo A79 as we’ve mentioned before. There’s no potential change in design, not even a new color option. OnePlus could’ve at least added the alert slider, which is OnePlus’s iconic feature but sadly that’s not the case either. That’s not to say that the design is bad, which it is not. But we expected more. However given the price, we can excuse it.

It is a solid design though with a flat side frame and rear panel. It will feel great in your hand and won’t slip out easily. The smartphone comes in two colors. It is available in Black Satin and Cyan. As for the display, the OnePlus Nord N30 SE features a 6.72-inch IPS display. The display panel features an FHD+ resolution, so watching content on the screen will be a delight. The display also has accurate colors, so using productivity apps on the smartphone won’t be an issue.

Memory and Internal

The OnePlus Nord N30 SE comes equipped with the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 6020 5G chipset. The chipset is capable of reaching clock speeds of up to 2×2.2 GHz. The chipset has enough raw power in this chipset to run all your everyday apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Messenger, and a lot more.

OnePlus has also provided 5G connectivity on this smartphone and the network performance is solid. The chipset also has enough GPU power to run all your games smoothly. This chipset has the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which can run high-end games like PUBG mobile, CODm, and even Genshin Impact at relatively smooth framerates.

The OnePlus Nord N30 SE is running on Android 13 OS with OxygenOS 13.1 user interface, which is highly customizable. The smartphone also comes equipped with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. However, there’s no support for a microSDXC expansion slot to expand your internal storage later but there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Camera

The OnePlus Nord N30 SE comes with a 50MP dual-camera system. The main camera with the 50MP sensors shoots some great pictures with high detail and high dynamic range. The color tone also looks quite natural and on point. For night pictures, the smartphone has a dedicated night mode that significantly boosts the camera capability and produces fine pictures with accurate colors and high detail levels.

On the front of the OnePlus Nord N30 SE, there’s an 8MP selfie camera. This selfie camera can take some average selfies with a decent amount of detail. Don’t expect anything crazy here as the sensors are just not capable of that. It’s decent considering the price of the smartphone. As for video recording, the OnePlus Nord N30 SE can shoot at a maximum of 1080p@30FPS from both the rear and selfie cameras.

Battery and Others

The OnePlus Nord N30 SE has a 5000 mAh high-capacity battery. This is an excellent battery that is capable of providing at least 2 days’ worth of battery back or even more. But this is only possible if your usage includes lighter usage like camera, social media, YouTube, and so on. With heavier usage, such as gaming, the battery will drain faster and may hardly last a full day.

But that shouldn’t worry you as the smartphone supports 33W wired fast charging, which is bundled in the box. This charger can charge the battery up to 51 in just 30 minutes. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone is available for purchase at $192 (Rs 15,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The OnePlus Nord N30 SE has a set of unique set of hardware and features that differentiate it from other smartphones, especially in the same price range. The pros of the smartphone include its color-accurate display, speedy chipset, 5G connectivity, camera, and battery. However, the smartphone is not without its cons either. The lack of a high refresh rate display and a good secondary camera are two major ones. However, considering the low price of the smartphone, it’s understandable why OnePlus couldn’t provide them.

So, is this smartphone for you? Well, that depends on one thing. What do you need from a smartphone? If you want a fast smartphone where you can download and watch a lot of movies or TV series or do some social media activities, then this smartphone is for you. Its higher resolution and color-accurate display will help you have a blast of a time watching content on it and 5G will help you download those content.

But if you are a camera enthusiast, then other smartphones could be better in this regard. The best alternative smartphone would be the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, which is available around the same price bracket while offering a better camera experience. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
