Infinix Smart 8

Infinix Hot 40i Smartphone Review – The Infinix Hot 40i was launched in December 2023 with plans for a global rollout. However, it will be a gradual rollout, so it won’t be available in all countries immediately. This smartphone is designed to provide a modern-day experience to Gen-Z users but a budget. So, it is designed to impress and features a solid design that will certainly raise some eyebrows.

So, it has almost all the modern features such as a decent refresh rate display, good cameras, decent performance, and exceptional battery except 5G. Unfortunately, Infinix couldn’t get 5G connectivity with this smartphone at this price range. But Infinix believes it will be a great device despite that. So, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Infinix Hot 40i smartphone and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Design and Display

The Infinix Hot 40i looks simply elegant and almost a flagship, which is surprising considering the price of the smartphone. You would find it impossible to believe that this gorgeous smartphone is not a flagship. That’s what this incredibly well-designed smartphone offers. The body is well-made and provides a strong grip, so it won’t slip out of your hand easily. The rear panel has both glossy and matte finish, depending on the colors.

This is what gives the smartphone its unique and flagship looks. Speaking of colors, the smartphone will be available in Starlit Black, Palm Blue, Horizon Gold, and Starfall Green. As for the display, you get a 6.56-inch IPS display panel with 90Hz high refresh rate support. It’s an HD+ display but it is color-accurate and gets plenty bright at 480 nits. This should satisfy most users and shouldn’t be much of a problem outdoors under direct sunlight.

Memory and Internal

The Infinix Hot 40i comes with the 12nm Unisoc T606 4G chipset. This chipset features an octa-core configuration, which is capable of achieving clock speeds of 2×1.6 GHz. Its performance is not comparable to modern but it has enough performance to run all your favorite apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and more, decently smooth.

For gaming, it has the Mali-G57 MP1 GPU, which can run games like CODm, Temple Run, and more at respectable framerates. For software, the Infinix Hot 40i runs on Android 13 with an XOS 13 user interface for advanced customization support. For RAM and storage, the Infinix Hot 40i can be purchased with up to 4GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. The smartphone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Camera

The Infinix Hot 40i features a 50MP rear camera. This is a decently good sensor and can capture some decently good shots with higher details, good dynamic range, and a natural color tone. The night photos are also quite good. The night mode turns the photos taken at night into something magical. The photos look brighter and have more details in them.

This performance is also carried over to the selfie camera. The smartphone has a 32MP selfie camera, which manages to capture some extremely good selfies with high detail levels with natural color and skin tones. For video recording, the Infinix Hot 40i can shoot up to 1080p@30FPS from both the rear and selfie camera systems.

Battery and Others

The Infinix Hot 40i has a 5000 mAh high-capacity battery. This is a high-capacity battery that can easily last about 2 – 3 days with light to medium usage. This includes some texting, watching movies, Facebook, Instagram, and more. But if you are a gamer, then the battery will last even less but even then you should get a full-day battery.

The included charger is an 18W wired fast charger, which is decently fast and can fully charge the battery in under 2 hours and 30 minutes. You don’t have to buy the charger separately as you will get it bundled in the box. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, OTG, NFC, and a Type-C connector. The price of the Infinix Hot 40i starts at $145 (Rs 11,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

Infinix designed the Infinix Hot 40i with exciting specs and features that make it a perfect smartphone on a budget for modern users. You get a modern design that will certainly please you and anyone else who sees it. You get a decent display with modern high-refresh-rate support. The cameras are good which you usually don’t see in a smartphone of this price range. The same goes for the battery and charger, no complaints. However, there are also some disadvantages. The chipset speed is decent, which may cause heating issues on low-RAM models.

There’s also no protection for the display or any protection from water splashes. So, keep these in mind. However, if you are an average user and use a smartphone mainly for calling, texting, and social media, then we believe this smartphone can be perfect for you. There’s another smartphone that could provide the same experience. That’s the Xiaomi Poco M6 Pro, which more or less provides the same specs and user experience but at a lower price tag. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
