Energizer Hard Case P28K

Energizer Hard Case P28K Smartphone Review – Energizer Hard Case P28K was announced in February 2024 at the MWC 2024 Barcelona event. However, the smartphone won’t go on sale anytime soon. Energizer has announced that they plan to put the smartphone on sale sometime in October of this year. But when it does go on sale, it will be available globally in multiple countries.

This is a rugged smartphone that is equipped with advanced mid-range hardware but it doesn’t have 5G. Energizer believes it can win some new customers with this smartphone, especially those who work away from the grid and need a large battery. So, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Energizer Hard Case P28K smartphone and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Energizer Hard Case P28K Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Energizer Hard Case P28K features a 6.78-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution.
  2. The chipset inside the smartphone is the MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core 4G SoC that is capable of reaching clock speeds of 2×2.2 GHz.
  3. Energizer Hard Case P28K is powered by Android 14 with a stock user interface for a clean and smooth user experience.
  4. The smartphone has a 64MP triple rear camera system and a 16MP selfie camera in the front.
  5. There is a 28000 mAh battery inside the smartphone with 33W fast wired charging.

Design and Display

The Energizer Hard Case P28K looks like a tank and that’s because it is built like a tank. This rugged smartphone looks less like a smartphone and more like a military device. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table regarding the design. Its design follows the usual tried and tested design language, so people who don’t want eye-catching can rest easy knowing Energizer Hard Case P28K has their back.

The material used in the smartphone is quite strong, so it will be well protected against drops, scratches, shocks, and more. It will even be protected from dust and water with the IP68/IP69K certification. This goes to show just how rugged the smartphone is. As for the display, you will get a 6.78-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution.

The is a color-accurate display, so content looks good on the smartphone and the presence of FHD+ resolution means watching movies and TV series will be absolutely delightful. The only thing that’s missing is the display protection. Energizer hasn’t mentioned anything about the display protection yet.

Memory and Internal

The Energizer Hard Case P28K comes with MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core 4G SoC that is capable of reaching clock speeds of 2×2.2GHz. This is a decently performance-oriented SoC that will not disappoint. Other rugged smartphones in the same price range have much weaker chipsets. That’s not the case here, the chipset of Energizer Hard Case P28K is actually quite decent.

This performance level can also be seen in the gaming side of things. It has the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which is not a gaming-grade GPU by any means but it has enough performance to accelerate and run your favorite games at smooth framerates. This includes games such as PUBG Mobile, CODm, and even Summoners War.

As for RAM and Storage, the smartphone has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, so there should be enough storage for most users. However, if you do end up filling up the internal storage, there’s a shared MicroSDXC expansion slot, which ensures you can later increase the storage capacity. The smartphone also doesn’t heat up a lot, thanks to better heat dissipation.

Camera

The Energizer Hard Case P28K has a 64MP triple rear camera system. The primary camera has a 64MP sensor that can snap some great pictures and manages to preserve high details, high dynamic range, and a natural color tone. In dark situations, the camera also features night mode, which dramatically increases the amount of light the sensor can capture, so it manages to preserve more details.

There are two more secondary cameras with 20MP and 2MP sensors. There’s a portrait mode as well and the pictures from this mode are also quite good. The background bokeh is natural with an accurate focus on the subject. On the front of the Energizer Hard Case P28K, there’s a 16MP selfie camera that can take decent selfies with good detail levels and a natural skin tone. For video recording, the phone manages to shoot with 4K@30FPS resolution from the rear cameras but the selfie cameras maxes out at 1080P@30FPS resolution.

Battery and Others

The Energizer Hard Case P28K has a huge 28000 mAh battery that hasn’t been seen before in consumer smartphones. Energizer went ahead and did the impossible, no wonder the smartphone looks like a tank. It has a 28000 mAh battery after all. Energizer claims that the smartphone will provide a week’s worth of battery life no matter what you do and we believe them.

This smartphone may still have a significant amount of juice left even after surviving a full working week. This is perfect for people who work in industrial environments and are often away from the grid for long periods. The battery will probably last more than a week even with extended gaming sessions.

When the battery does go out, there’s support for a 33W fast wired charger, which is definitely not the fastest but still better than the default 10W charger. With a 33W charger, it would probably take 5 – 8 hours to fully charge the smartphone. Apart from that, the smartphone has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and even a USB Type-C connector for charging. The Energizer Hard Case P28K is available for purchase at $265 (Rs 22,000 in India) approx.

Conclusion

As you saw from the specs, the Energizer Hard Case P28K is a decently good rugged smartphone that won’t break your wallet. It has all the right specs needed to provide a decently great design, performance, and camera. Energizer took their company name a bit too seriously and designed a huge battery for this smartphone. They managed to totally change the game.

This smartphone is made for people who work hard jobs and don’t have a GRID near them. The battery performance is on a whole different level and that was needed by some users. However, the smartphone is not without its flaws. First of all, there’s no high refresh rate, which has become a basic requirement at this point. Secondly, the charging speed is not okay.

Also, there’s no 5G connectivity, which is a shame really. There are many rugged smartphones with similar specs but none of them are available in the same price bracket. The only decent alternative is the Oukitel WP33 Pro, which is available at the same price but includes 5G. However, the final decision is up to you, so choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
