Vivo Y100t

Vivo Y100t Smartphone Review – The Vivo Y100t was released in late February 2024 in China and may remain China-exclusive unless Vivo changes its plans. Vivo is yet to announce its plans for a global release and it may never happen. The smartphone is designed to be a powerhouse, so it comes equipped with high-end hardware components, including 5G.

In terms of design, the Vivo Y100t has a similar design to Vivo’s other smartphones. Being a performance-oriented smartphone, the Vivo Y100t has a chance to be a real winner among all other smartphones in the same price range. So, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Vivo Y100t smartphone and find out if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Vivo Y100t Smartphone Review

  1. The Vivo Y100t smartphone features a 6.64-inch IPS display with support for 120Hz high refresh rate.
  2. The chipset inside the Vivo Y100t is the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 5G SoC, which is capable of reaching clock speeds of 1×3.1 GHz.
  3. The Vivo Y100t smartphone arrives with Android 13 with OriginOS 3 for better customization options.
  4. The Vivo Y100t smartphone has a 64MP rear camera system, while the selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a 5000mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging support.

Design and Display

The Vivo Y100t features a similar design to that of Vivo’s other smartphones. The sides and the corners are curved to provide a comfortable grip but are a bit slippery sometimes. The back panel has a matte frosted-like finish that looks quite good. The back panel only has the Vivo logo at the bottom and the camera module on the top.

The smartphone is available in two colors, Black, Blue, and Silver. All the buttons are on the right side. The SIM slot, speaker, and microphone are at the bottom. On the front, the smartphone has a 6.64-inch IPS display with support for 120Hz high refresh rate. This is an IPS panel with FHD+ resolution and it is color-corrected. So, using the device and watching content on the screen will be a pleasure.

Memory and Internal

Vivo equipped the Vivo Y100t with MediaTek Dimensity 8200 5G chipset. This is a performance-oriented chipset. This chipset is capable of reaching clock speeds of 1×3.1 GHz, which is quite high when compared to other smartphones in this budget. In terms of performance, the chipset will breeze through any app or game.

You can multitask with multiple apps in the background and you still won’t find any slowdowns. As for gaming, the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU will allow you to play games such as PUBGm, Summoners War, CODm, and even Genshin Impact at higher graphical fidelity. Since it has a 5G chipset, the smartphone is 5G-ready and can reach gigabit speeds easily.

The 5G connectivity will also decrease latency significantly and help improve multiplayer gaming. The smartphone also comes with Android 13 along with OriginOS 3 user interface. Being a 2024 smartphone, it should have had Android 14 out of the box. For memory and storage, the Vivo Y100t is available for purchase with up to 8GB to 12GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. The smartphone has a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.

Camera

Vivo outfitted the Vivo Y100t with a 64MP rear camera setup. The 64MP primary camera is capable of taking some incredible photos that tend to have high detail levels, accurate colors, and a higher dynamic range compared to other smartphones in the same price range. The detail levels in the subjects are consistent with the detail levels of the background.

The photos appear to be in good quality. There’s a secondary 2MP depth sensor that can enhance the portrait photos a bit. Then there’s night mode built into the camera app and it can significantly boost the picture quality at night. For selfies, the Vivo Y100t is equipped with a 16MP selfie camera. This selfie camera takes some great closeup selfies.

These selfies tend to have fine details and natural color tones. For video recording, the rear camera can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 4K@30FPS. While the selfie camera can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 1080P@30FPS. The rear camera also has OIS and it allows for stable video recording.

Battery and Others

The Vivo Y100t has a 5000mAh high-capacity battery. It can provide a full day’s worth of battery life with light to medium usage. But playing a lot of games will drain the battery a lot faster, so it won’t last a full day. This is a performance and gaming-oriented smartphone, so you can’t expect more battery than this. Playing games will drain the battery fast.

But that shouldn’t worry you as the smartphone supports 120W wired fast charging. It can fully charge the smartphone in under 40 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone has support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, and a USB Type-C connector for charging. The smartphone will start at $240 (Rs 19,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Vivo Y100t was designed with performance and gaming in mind, and Vivo managed to achieve that and a lot more. The raw performance of this smartphone is unprecedented and cannot be matched by other smartphones in the same price range. On top of that, the smartphone brings a solid design, great display, and super battery life.

The pros don’t end here. Even the camera performance is more than decent. The same goes for the ultra-fast charging of this smartphone. However, there are some cons as well. The smartphone lacks any form of display protection or dust & water protection. Another con is that the smartphone may not be available globally. But considering everything it provides, the pricing is quite good.

The best alternative to this smartphone is the Vivo Y78t. That’s because the new Vivo Y100t is actually a clone of the Vivo Y78t. So, if you can’t buy the Vivo Y100t in countries outside of China, then you can buy the Y78t, which will launch globally and get the same features and capabilities. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
