Ulefone Armor X13 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Ulefone Armor X13 features a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with a water-drop notch at the center.
  2. The chipset inside the smartphone is the MediatekHelioG36  SoC, which can reach up to a 4×2.2GHz clocking speed.
  3. Ulefone Armor X13 is powered by the latest Android 13OS with a clean and bloatware-free experience.
  4. The smartphone has a 50MP dual rear camera system and an 8MP selfie camera at the front.
  5. There is a Li-Po 6320mAh battery inside the Ulefone Armor X13 with support for 10W charging standard.

Design and Display

The Ulefone Armor X13 looks like a beast smartphone with a diamond-shaped body frame. The body of the smartphone is colored in black with orange accents. But if you are not a fan of bright highlighted colors, then the smartphone can also be purchased in Black. It has a matte black finish without any accented colors, which gives the smartphone a very stealthy look.

The body of the smartphone is made out of polycarbonate materials and has MIL-STD-810H-compliant certification. The “MIL-STD” in the certification stands for Military Standard. This certifies the smartphone as extremely durable and capable of surviving any harsh conditions, including drops, shocks, jerks, and even high jet pressure. In fact, the smartphone is certified with IP68/IP69K dust and water resistance.

On the front, you will find a large 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and a tall 20:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone will also survive direct drops to concrete at 1.5m height, thanks to the special layer of padding around the phone that takes care of everything. This is a smartphone that is designed for people who work in tough working conditions and harsh terrains. The large display is certainly an upgrade against its previous models such as Ulefone Armor X10. The display section is manageable still the low 720p resolution support on the display is a major disappointment from the brand makers.

Memory and Internal

The Ulefone Armor X13 comes with the 12nm MediatekHelio G36 SoC, which can reach up to a 4×2.2GHz clocking speed. This processor features a total of 8 cores, so all your apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Gmail, and YouTube will run smoothly. With this SoC, all your daily tasks will be carried out without interruption but don’t have high expectations from this hardware. The SoC is not capable enough for heavy performance at all.

This chipset supports 4G connectivity, but there’s no 5G option. Having 5G would have been a bonus certainly but not a strict necessity. For an industrial worker, having a good display, imaging, and battery are more important. For the software side of things, the Ulefone Armor X13 comes with the latest Android 13OS and a stock user interface for a clean and bloatware-free experience.

The GPU powering the Ulefone Armor X13 is the PowerVR GE8320, which should run your favorite moderategames but remember this is not a gaming smartphone. When it comes to RAM and Storage configurations, you get 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, if you feel storage is not enough for you, you will be glad to know that the smartphone has a dedicated MicroSD expansion slot if you would like to expand the storage. All in all, the software side of the smartphone is decent while the same can not be said for the performance aspect.

Camera

The Ulefone Armor X13 has a 50MP dual rear camera system. The primary camera features a 50MP lens and is optimized to capture more light than any other smartphone in the same price range. This allows the sensor to capture images that have amazing detail levels, natural color, and a high dynamic range. If you have a habit of taking pictures at night, you will be glad to know that this smartphone can take some impressive night shots with night mode.

This is thanks to the smartphone’s secondary camera. The second camera is a night vision camera with a 24MP infrared sensor and infrared LEDs. Combine them with the software algorithm, you get some amazing night shooting capability.

On the front of the Ulefone Armor X13, there’s the 8MP selfie camera, which manages to capture a decent level of detail. It even manages to preserve the facial features and textures of human subjects but still, the overall selfie camera is average. For video recording, the phone manages to shoot up to a maximum resolution of 1080pvideos@30FPS from the rear cameras.

Battery and Others

The Ulefone Armor X13 has a Li-Po 6320mAh battery. The high capacity in combination with the power-efficient chipset allows the smartphone to last for multiple days, which is great for people who work in dangerous and high-risk industrial environments. The battery won’t discharge easily and you can get at least 2 days of battery even with gaming, which is absolutely crazy if you think about it. Most modern smartphones won’t come close to this battery level.

However, not everything is good about the smartphone. The fingerprint sensor is missing on the smartphone. For charging, the smartphone doesn’t support any form of fast charging and relies on the standard 10W charger that is found inside the box. With this charger, it may take around 4 hours or more to fully charge the battery. Apart from that, the smartphone has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5, a headphone jack, NFC, and even a USB Type-C port for charging. When it comes to price, the smartphone is available for $170 (Rs 14,000 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Ulefone Armor X13 has a lot going for it. Everything from the rugged body and larger display to the decent camera system and the epic battery capacity makes this smartphone extremely appealing smartphone for people who want an industrial-level smartphone. It provides all that at a budget price and attracts buyers who are looking for an affordable smartphone. However, not everything is as merry as it seems since the 5G connectivity is missing on the smartphone.

Apart from this, the smartphone has a low-resolution display and fast charging support is missing on the smartphone. The internal storage and performance too are expected to be a bit better as per the pricing of the smartphone. No doubt, the smartphone has some appealing features but still the pricing feels a bit high. The market has better alternatives available at around the same pricing such as Honor Play 50 Plus and therefore we recommend you have a look at them. However, the final decision is up to you and your requirements.
