Lava Yuva 3 Pro

Lava Yuva 3 Pro Smartphone Review – The Lava Yuva 3 Pro was launched in December 2023. It’s the newest Lava smartphone that has been designed for Yuva aka young generation and is available at a budget price tag. The smartphone is launched only in India and won’t be available globally. As the smartphone is designed for the young generation, it comes with a decent refresh rate display, a decent camera, and a large battery.

But it doesn’t have 5G connectivity, unfortunately. Lava says there’s more to the smartphone than just specs and claims to provide an excellent user experience. So, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Lava Yuva 3 Pro smartphone and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Lava Yuva 3 Pro Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Lava Yuva 3 Pro features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display panel with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz high refresh rate.
  2. It is powered by the 12nm – Unisoc Tiger T616 4G chipset for speedy performance.
  3. The Lava Yuva 3 Pro runs on Android 13 with a stock user interface for a clean and better user experience.
  4. The Lava Yuva 3 Pro features a  50MP rear camera in the back and an 8MP selfie camera in the front.
  5. The Lava Yuva 3 Pro also features a Li-Po 5000 mAh with 18W fast wired charging support.

Design and Display

The Lava Yuva 3 Pro looks majestic considering the price of the smartphone. With just a glance, you would find it impossible to believe this is a budget smartphone. The body is well-built and has a great grip, so it won’t slip out of your hand easily. The rear panel has a matte finish. You can purchase the smartphone in Desert Gold, Forest Viridian, and Meadow Purple. You may even consider it a flagship smartphone unless you look at the display and start using the smartphone.

That’s because the bottom bezel is a bit larger than its other sides but considering the price, it’s acceptable. Speaking of the display, you get a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution. You can’t expect an FHD+ display at this price range and it’s acceptable considering the display also supports a 90Hz high refresh rate. This allows for a smoother user experience.

Memory and Internal

Lava has equipped the Yuva 3 Pro with the Unisoc Tiger T616 4G chipset. This is a fantastic chipset at this price range and features an octa-core configuration with clock speeds of 2×2.0 GHz and it can easily run all your favorite apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and more. Its raw performance is objectively comparable to modern standards.

Now, combine that with the smartphone’s 90Hz refresh rate, you get a smoother user experience. The chipset has a lot of performance to offer, including gaming. It has the Mali-G57 MP1 GPU, which can run games like CODm, Temple Run, and more. But don’t high framerates or anything as this is not a gaming CPU. It also doesn’t heat up after using intensive applications or even during gaming, thanks to the 12nm manufacturing process.

Also, the Lava Yuva 3 Pro runs on Android 13 with a stock user interface for a clean and better user experience. Apart from that, the Lava Yuva 3 Pro has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The smartphone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Camera

The Lava Yuva 3 Pro features a  50MP rear camera, which can capture some great shots with a terrific level of detail, high dynamic range, perfect white balance, and saturated colors. Their night mode post-processing algorithm also works like magic and it turns the photos taken at night into something that is out of its league.

Lava has clearly done some work and the performance is better than any other smartphones in the same price range. But Lava at least put in an LED flash.

It even supports portrait mode but it won’t be taking any record-breaking portraits if that’s what you were expecting. As for selfies, the smartphone has an 8MP selfie camera, which is not bad and manages to capture a decent amount of detail with natural color and skin tones. For video recording, the Lava Yuva 3 Pro can shoot up to 1080p@30FPS from both the rear and selfie camera systems.

Battery and Others

The Lava Yuva 3 Pro has a Li-Po 5000 mAh high-capacity battery. It’s always good to see brands not compromising in the battery department. This battery can easily last about 2 – 3 days of usage with light to medium usage, including some video streaming, instant messaging, Instagram, and more. This is due to the high-capacity battery and efficient processor built at 12nm process.

But if you are a gamer, then the battery will last even less but you should still get a full day battery performance. However, with a battery capacity this large, charging times can be longer. Lava has thought of that, so they included an 18W fast charger in the box. You don’t have to buy the charger separately. You will get it inside the box.

The 18W charger can fully charge the smartphone in under 2 hours and 30 minutes. Apart from that, the smartphone comes with a  side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, FM Radio, and a Type-C connector. The price of the Lava Yuva 3 Pro starts at $108 (Rs 8,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

Lava designed the Lava Yuva 3 Pro with exciting design choices. It clearly has some flagship vibes and can also be a fashion statement of how smartphone design should be. The design is the highlight of the smartphone. But this smartphone is a lot more than that and has some interesting specs to back up the claim. It has a great chipset, which combined with the excellent battery life will seriously elevate your user experience.

On top of that, its camera performance is really impressive for the price it asks for. It honestly surprised us as we were expecting the camera to do below average. Considering all that it offers, the price tag is more than justified. It’s a great deal. The only caveat is that it’s limited to India and won’t be available overseas.

For international users, we have an alternative for you. There’s another smartphone that provides a similar specs sheet with a similar price tag, more or less. This is the Nokia G42 that is available in more countries than the Lava Yuva 3 Pro. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
