Infinix Note 40 Pros and Cons

Infinix Note 40 Smartphone Review – The mid-range series of Infinix phones has produced some decent smartphones. Recently, the smartphone makers released the new Note 40 series, which includes phones like the Infinix Note 40, Note 40 Pro, and Note 40 Pro Plus. However, the company released these phones silently. But they could be a noteworthy budget-friendly smartphone of this year. As for today’s review, we have the Infinix Note 40 smartphone.

At first impression, the Infinix Note 40 looks stunning with an impressive design layout, while at the same time, the phone brings a decent display. But the most surprising factor about this device would be wireless charging. Generally, you won’t notice wireless charging support. But the rest of the specs are quite average. Thus, let’s find out whether it’s worth purchasing the Infinix Note 40 from the following review.

Infinix Note 40 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Infinix Note 40 arrives with a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with FHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support.
  2. A decent 108MP triple camera with a 32MP selfie camera will appear on this phone.
  3. The performance aspect is handled through the Helio G99 Ultimate chipset with 4G connectivity.
  4. As for the software layering, the phone offers the Android 14-based XOS 14 custom skin.
  5. Lastly, the device attains a 5000 mAh battery with 45W wired and 20W wireless charging support.

Design and Display

The Infinix Note 40 is available in two stunning paint jobs, including Titan Gold and Obsidian Black. Both of them look quite appealing and premium even though the company used a plastic material on the back panel. Besides this, the phone arrives with a matte finish, which gives them a premium look in the first impression. Alongside this, the users will obtain a rectangular camera module with a ring LED light.

Not to forget, the Infinix branding is noticeable at the bottom. The side panel offers metallic texture and a volume rocker button. With this, it’s confirmed that the smartphone makers are providing decently built quality on the Infinix Note 40. It will also include an IP54 rating with corning gorilla glass on the front display. Although, the phone is missing the 3.5 mm jack port.

At the front display, you are getting a dot-notch display camera. But it didn’t feel that big when you were watching content on a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel. Following this, it’s good to see that the phone offers FHD resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. With this, the overall navigation will be smooth and crisp. However, the screen brightness is slightly low as it only supports up to 1300 nits brightness.

Memory and Internal

The hardware section isn’t that bad either as you will obtain the Mediatek  Helio G99 ultimate chipset. Through this chipset, you can expect good enough performance for daily activities and casual gaming. But, the graphic units aren’t that great if you want to enjoy long gaming sessions. However, the phone will struggle to maintain the frame rate due to hardware limitations.

As a result of that, the phone wasn’t able to push the graphic limits and granted an average gameplay experience. On top of that, the software interface might look fabulous on the surface. But, in reality, the Android 14-based XOS 14 custom interface has lots of bloatware and ad notifications. Most of the time, you won’t be able to disable them. It’s one of the major downsides of using an Infinix phone.

Anyway, there’s one thing in which the phone exiles. It’s none other than storage as you are getting 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. With that much space, you can effortlessly download games, and store multimedia and office files in one place. Besides this, the phone is also accompanied by 8GB RAM support. In terms of software updates, Infinix phones often delay Android updates but they constantly provide security patches to fix bugs.

Camera

Infinix Note 40 equips a triple camera setup on the back panel, which includes a 108MP as the primary sensor. It allows users to capture more details with accurate colors and white balance. At the same time, you can rely on the 2MP secondary camera for depth and macro photos. Aside from this, the 32MP selfie lens can provide images and videos using the improved camera tech.

There’s no denying that Infinix does improve its camera software, which is noticeable when you are using the native camera app. Although, there’s no doubt that the camera app lacks when it comes to low light. But still, the Infinix Note 40 can manage to dynamic range of colors. Apart from this, the image quality of daylight photos is improved to a certain extent if you are using the Pro mode.

Not to forget, the AI mode will boost colors and adjust saturation to make your photos more lively. On the other hand, the video recording aspect isn’t that bad either. The main camera app can easily record up to 1440p resolution videos, while the front camera app comes with 1080p video recording. Although, you won’t notice proper stabilization during video recording.

Battery and Others

Under the hood, the Infinix Note 40 comes with a 5000 mAh battery with a 45W wired charging. With this configuration, you can enjoy more than three hours of game and five hours of normal content consumption. At the same time, the phone also provides decent battery endurance for a whole day. In terms of the charging speed, the users can rely on the wired charger.

It will take less than an hour and a few minutes to refill the battery percentage to full. Alongside this, the user will also obtain a 20W wireless charging, which can charge the phone in less than two hours. Normally, you won’t find a wireless charging support in the 4G phones. But it’s a completely different story when you are looking at the Infinix Note 40.

However, the device arrives with decent Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS sensors so that you can utilize this phone to the full extent. Moreover, the stereo speakers are tuned by JBL, so decent sound output is expected. At the same time, you can purchase this phone at $204 (Rs 16,999 in India) approx, which makes this phone an appealing deal in the mid-range segment.

Conclusion

There aren’t many phones that offer wireless charging, NFC support, and impressive customization attributes in the mid-range segment. But when we are talking about the Infinix Note 40, it brings all of those factors without much compromise. Yet, we won’t deny that the user interface is loaded with bloatware, ads, and annoying notifications. Moreover, the video recording quality won’t give good results.

On the other hand, the phone is limited to 4G connectivity, which could be a problem for people who want to enjoy a 5G connection on their phone. Although, the phone didn’t lack when it comes to day-to-day usage. But sadly, it’s not designed for proper gaming. Instead of that, you should consider getting the Vivo iQOO Z9. With this, you will receive a stable user interface and cool customization features. Lastly, we recommend you pick a phone that meets your requirements and budget.
