Infinix Note 12 VIP

Infinix Note 12i Smartphone Review – The Infinix Note 12i is the successor of the Infinix Note 11i. With this smartphone, the company brings an ample set of features with appealing specs that are usually missing the budget segment device. The phone is released in May 2022, although, they don’t unveil the phone through a proper launch event, as everything happened in silence, and many people are not aware of this Infinix creation. Besides this, the device is currently feasible in Kenya.

But we have finally got this device in our testing lab, and the first impression of the Infinix Note 12i is looking pretty impressive compared to the last year’s variant, while being released in the Infinix Note 12-series, you will obtain a flashy camera module at the back panel and performance aspect also quite great. Under the hood, the battery life of this phone is more than enough for your daily usage. There are several other things that need to be covered. So, without any further ado, let’s start the detailed review of the Infinix Note 12i smartphone.

Infinix Note 12i Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The phone appears with a brick shape design with a 6.82-inches IPS LCD panel that renders a 90Hz refresh rate.
  2. As for the software experience, you will obtain the latest Android 12 that accompany by the XOS 10.6 custom skin.
  3. In terms of hardware support, the device provides a 12nm MediaTek Helio G85 chipset with good visual effects.
  4. The camera department includes a 50MP triple camera setup that brings an 8MP selfie to the front panel.
  5. Moving to the battery aspect, the phone attains a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

Design and Display

The simple yet immersive appearance of the Infinix Note 12i gives a classic feeling, while the camera module design is something worth noting the most. Aside from this, the company releases two amazing shade options, including Force Black and Snowfall. Both of the color variants are the polar opposite of each other and look professional.

Although, there’s no denying that the phone doesn’t have a fancy factor that makes them stand out from the design perspective, nor does the company improve the built quality. However, you won’t even notice the back panel is built of a plastic body. It looks premium and sleek overall. Despite this, the phone is slightly thick, around 8.3 mm, and weighs 198-gram.

On the other hand, there’s a glossy structure that is covered the upper half of the phone, which looks pretty astounding. The slim bezel 6.82-inches dot notch IPS LCD panel looks great with a 90Hz refresh rate, even though, the Note 12i has a 720p resolution. Overall, the viewing experience with this phone is pretty good thanks to a better refresh rate, colors, saturation, and contrast. Still, there’s no info about screen protection.

Memory and Internal

Under the hood, the Infinix Note 12i gains an average entry-level 12nm MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, which can provide up to 2.0Ghz cloaking speed. Through this, you won’t face any trouble using the phone for your day-to-day tasks. Besides, the device also renders Mali-G52 MC2 GPU which slightly improves the visual aspect of the interface. In terms of the gaming experience, you can play games in mid-resolution settings.

As the software end, the phone arrives with the Android 12 out of the box with the new and improved XOS 10.6 custom skin. The best part of the XOS would be its notification bar icons, which are different from other brands. Moreover, you are also getting an inbuilt gaming center, which allows you to boost the overall gameplay experience by minimizing distraction from the outside world.

But sadly, the company doesn’t provide multiple storage and RAM options for the users. It would have been a great decision if the company released different variants to give more choices. But, it’s worth noting that the company provides 4GB RAM support with 128GB internal storage, which will easily handle your requirement. Furthermore, you can utilize a dedicated microSD slot to increase storage limits.

Camera

Being an entry-level smartphone, the Infinix Note 12i delivers a 50MP triple camera setup that includes a 2MP depth and QVGA lens. Instead of the combo of depth and QVGA lens, if the company provides a decided ultra-wide lens, it would be a fabulous deal. Still, the primary camera doesn’t disappoint when it comes to daylight photography. On the other hand, an 8MP selfie gives average photos and video results.

The image quality is decent and you will notice punchy and vibrant colors, contrast, and saturation. However, the same thing can’t be said for the photos captured in the lowlight situation. You will notice grains in each shot, which will downgrade the overall quality. But what you can expect from the entry-level smartphone in the first place?

Despite this, it proves us wrong with impressive portrait images. Yet, if you zoom in to the photos, you won’t notice that many fine details. Aside from this, the native camera apps render AI cam, beauty, portrait, and super night mode, while the video recording options can go up to 1440p resolution videos without any video stabilization support. Overall, the phone can click decent photos and videos in proper lighting.

Battery and Others

Battery life is a major concern for every user as we spend most of the time in front of the screen whether chatting with our loved ones using social media apps or streaming content. Whatever the case would be, the Note 12i will provide long-lasting battery life using its Li-Po 5000 mAh capacity. On average, the phone can stay active for more than a day with a single charge via a 33W charger.

Usually, the refueling time from flat to 100% is roughly an hour, which is considered good for a budget-tier device. But the best thing about this phone would be its dual speaker output, which is crisp and clear, while you will get a side-mounted fingerprint as a security factor. Lastly, the phone cost around $175 (Rs. 13,690 in India) approx after converting it becomes KES 20,550 approx.

Conclusion

The Infinix Note 12i smartphone is not for users who are looking for exceptional camera quality and heavy performance. The phone is designed to cater to the average users who are simply looking for a value-for-money device that has a good display, decent performance, an acceptable camera, and a long-lasting battery. The Note 12i fits all of that four categories.

On top of that, the phone renders the latest Android 12 interface, which makes the deal more appealing to interested buyers. But for some reason, if you don’t like this phone and looking for alternative options, then we will recommend you to check out the Xiaomi Redmi 10 Prime 2022 for all-rounder specs and features.
