  3. The smartphone comes with Android 14 out of the box with a MagicOS 8 user interface for better customizability support.
  4. The smartphone has a 50MP triple rear-camera system while the selfie camera has a 50MP sensor.
  5. The smartphone is powered by a Li-Ion 5450 mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Design and Display

The Honor Magic 6 looks drop-dead gorgeous, especially in its Green color with Gold accents that complement it beautifully. The other color combinations are also equally enticing. Here are the other color options, Black, Blue, Purple, and White. The sides of the smartphone are curved in nature, so it provides a better and more comfortable grip.

The body is made of aluminum while the rear panel is made from glass to provide a premium experience to its user. The display is also curved on both sides to provide a super bezel-less appearance and enhance the looks of the smartphone. Speaking of the display, you get a 6.78-inches LTPO OLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.

It has support for displaying over a Billion colors, so it can play HDR content perfectly. The display also gets plenty bright. It can get as bright as 1600 nits in typical full-brightness settings, which is a lot. There aren’t any smartphones that can do this yet. On top of that, the display can get as bright as 5000 nits under peak brightness conditions under direct sunlight. The display is also protected by a special Jurhino Glass but there’s no water or dust protection.

Memory and Internal

The Honor Magic 6 features the newest flagship chipset called the Qualcomm SM8650-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 5G. This chipset is capable of reaching clock speeds of 1×3.3 GHz. It’s the most powerful Android chipset, so it can run anything you want on it. This Android chipset was released just a few months ago and it’s the best chipset period.

Running social media apps, games, or anything else won’t be a problem here. It will run everything available on the Android Play Store. The Adreno 750 GPU in the chipset also has a lot of raw performance in gaming and can run many popular games, such as Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, and CODm. Also, due to its raw performance, it runs old console games via emulation perfectly.

This includes games such as God of War 4 via emulation, which should be enough to tell you just how powerful the chipset is. Also, the chipset supports 5G connectivity, so enjoy gigabit-level speeds and ultra-low-latency gaming. For RAM and storage, the smartphone can be purchased with up to 12GB/16GB of RAM, and 256GB/512GB of storage. When it comes to the OS, the Honor Magic 6 is running on Android 14 out of the box with the new MagicOS 8 user interface for better customization support.

Camera

The Honor Magic 6 has a 50MP triple rear-camera system. The main 50MP rear camera takes multiple camera samples, which then get binned into one perfect single picture. This allows for pictures with high detail levels along with a high dynamic range. The sensor is also optimized to feature a natural color tone, which improves the overall look of the photos.

The 32MP telephoto camera is also an extremely good sensor and it manages to provide some of the most impressive zoomed pictures at 2.5x Zoom levels. The 50MP ultra-wide camera also takes some great pictures and manages to capture many details that other ultra-wide fail to preserve. The night photography is also quite good and manages to blow away other smartphones in the same price range.

The 50MP selfie camera is capable of taking some incredibly detailed selfies with a high dynamic range. When it comes to video recording, the rear cameras can shoot up to 4K@60FPS, and the footage is stabilized with both OIS and gyro-EIS. But the selfie camera can only shoot videos at a maximum of 4K@30FPS with only gyro-EIS for stable video footage.

Battery and Others

The Honor Magic 6 has a Li-Ion 5450 mAh non-removable high-capacity battery. This is a high-capacity battery, so it can last 1 – 2 days easily but with light to moderate usage. With heavier usage or gaming, the battery will drain faster as gaming pushes the chipset harder and drains the battery quickly. For charging the battery, the smartphone supports the 66W wired fast charger, which will fully charge the smartphone in under 50 minutes.

The smartphone also supports 50W fast wireless charging, which can charge the smartphone in an hour. It also supports reverse wired and wireless charging to charge your Bluetooth earphones. Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, an under-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The Honor Magic 6 starts at $625 (Rs 51,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Honor Magic 6 is the latest flagship smartphone from Honor at the start of 2024. So, Honor includes all the latest components with the highest technological improvements in the smartphone. This included a high-tech display, chipset, battery, and charger. Honor may have created a benchmark when it comes to the highest peak brightness display in a modern smartphone. Well, Honor had to cut some corners in the form of display protection and water and dust resistance.

There’s no official IP rating on the smartphone, but it does have some sort of display protection but it’s not as good as Gorilla Glass protection in Samsung flagship smartphones or the Ceramic Shield protection in iPhones. But it also brings super-fast charging capabilities that are not found in those flagship smartphones. So, if water resistance and display protection are a priority for you, then you can go with other smartphones.

But if you don’t mind that and actually like the technological improvements like high-speed charging, then the Honor Magic 6 will surely impress you and also save a lot of money. Its closest competitor is the Vivo iQOO 12 which launched late last year. It provides similar specs but at an even lower price tag. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
