Honor Play 6T Pros and Cons

Honor Play 6T Smartphone Review – Honor is backing with yet another banger in the budget segment. Today, we are reviewing the Honor Play 6T. Moreover, the phone is the successor of the Honor Play 5T youth. You are getting a pretty standard spec with this handset but the additional perks of the software and hardware are something worth noting. As far as the release date is concerned, the device is launched in April 2022.

Alongside this, the company also release its sibling Honor Play 6T Pro which offers a mid-range level configuration. Though, both of the devices are currently available in the mainland china smartphone market. Now, let’s come back to the main topic and understand whether the Honor Play 6T comes out to be a great deal or it’s just a gimmick. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Honor Play 6T smartphone.

Honor Play 6T Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The device offers a 6.74-inches TFT panel that grants a 90Hz refresh rate on top.
  2. Moving to the software section, the Android 11 without google play services and the Magic UI 5.0 skin layering.
  3. As for the hardware, the Honor Play 6T equips a standard 7nm MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 chipset under the hood.
  4. For the photography and videography, there’s a 13MP triple camera setup with a 5MP selfie.
  5. Last but not least, the company offers a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery support with 22.5W fast charging.

Design and Display

The design aspect is quite similar to the recently launched Infinix Zero X, mainly due to the camera module design layout. But, you are getting the aesthetic feel with the Honoro Play 6T even though it offers average specs. Appearance-wise, the phone does look appealing, while on the other hand, there are three marvelous shade options from which you can choose the device.

The color options include Black, Silver, and Blue. But if you are looking for something fancy and vibrant, silver and blue shade choices are the best. However, if you are in search of a professional-looking phone, by default the black variant becomes the must by choice. Now, speaking of the dimensions, the device feels slightly heavy and thick due to the massive battery.

Aside from the back panel appearance, the water drop front panel of 6.74-inches TFT LCD HD resolution panel does give vibrant colors and saturation while watching content. Following this, the display also offers a 90Hz refresh rate that increases the touch response and gives a field user experience. Although, the device is lacking a protective coating.

Memory and Internal

The performance of the Honor Play 6T smartphone does outshine compare to other departments thanks to the entry of the 7nm MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 chipset under the hood. With this chipset, the processing power can easily reach up to 2.2Ghz cloaking speed, which will allow you to play games at decent settings. Alongside this, you are getting an above-average gaming experience.

Though the phone doesn’t have a proper cooling system, it works fine with regular multitasking. As for the software end, you will attain the Android 11 OS with the Magic UI 5.0 custom interface. This combination provides a decent amount of customization features for the users. But at the same time, you will notice bloatware apps here and there.

On top of that, the interface doesn’t support the Google ecosystem apps. However, there are several alternative options available in the Chinese phone market, so there’s nothing to worry about. In terms of internal storage, you will obtain an 8GB RAM support in which you can choose between the 128GB to 256GB space. Alongside this, the Honor Play 6T also holds a micro SDXC card slot.

Camera

The camera performance of the Honor Play 6T is pretty good in some aspects such as daylight and portrait mode. But at the same time, the low lights and wide-angle shots don’t have that kick. Though the AI tech is doing its work in improving image processing, the results are pretty adequate.

Usually, when you are taking photos, you will notice grain in the images, while the details are hit or miss. However, the triple camera setup does work great to some extent. But it won’t be considered phenomenal. The 13MP primary lens gives fine details and good colors and contrast. Although, the same thing can’t be said for the secondary camera.

You are getting the regular combo of 2MP macro and 2MP depth lens that doesn’t improve the image quality. But still, the macro shots are coming out OKish. With this, you will receive a 5MP selfie. However, the most underwhelming part of using the native camera app would be the video recording as you can only go up to 1080p resolution max. Besides this, you won’t get any video stabilization software support.

Battery and Others

The Honor Play 6T houses a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, it’s a pretty huge battery if you are looking for normal usage. With that much battery capacity, you can undoubtedly attain more than 4+ hours of screen time. Through this, you can watch your favorite show, check social media, and play games with a little touch of multitasking. Even after this, you will still have some remaining battery at the end of the day.

Furthermore, the makers also provide the 22.5W fast charging that makes sure the Honor Play 6T is refueled in less than an hour and a half. Aside from this, the phone doesn’t have any unique selling point that gives any attractive deal, even if it cost $190 (Rs. 14,590) approx. It’s an average mid-range 5G phone without any special tweaks.

Conclusions

The Honor Play 6T is a pretty unusual smartphone that releases with standard specs and features. But the best thing about this phone would be its performance and battery aspect. Here, the device shines the most and provides great value for the users. If you are looking for decent performance with better battery life, the Play 6T is a great deal.

However, we can’t deny the flaws of this phone. But still, if we have to recommend any phone to you in the same range, we will present the Redmi Note 11 Pro for its all-rounder attributes that stand out from the rest of the competition, while the final decision is in your hand.
