ZTE Blade V40s

ZTE Blade V40s Smartphone Review – The ZTE Blade V40s is released in Malaysia around October 2022, the phone follows the same perks and specs as the Blade V-series phones. ZTE might not have a fabulous presence in the mid-range market, but the time to time release some interesting phones all around the world, one of them would be the ZTE Blade V40 Pro and Blade V40s. Both devices are fabulous, but different makers release them.

We have already reviewed the V40 Pro, so do check that in the meanwhile. As for today’s review, we have the new ZTE Blade V40s that offers an immersive design layout with various other things to discover. But from the start, we would suggest you get your hopes up since it’s just a mid-range phone, so you don’t get disappointed in the first place. Let’s head toward the ZTE Blade V40s review to find out more details about this phone.

ZTE Blade V40s Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The phone attains a 6.67-inches AMOLED panel with apt details and proper colors with FHD resolution.
  2. In terms of performance, the device brings a Unisoc UMS512T T618 chipset with decent GPU support.
  3. The software layering of the latest Android 12 based on the MyOS 12 custom skin is offered.
  4. A standard 50MP triple camera island with a regular 8MP selfie appears on the Blade V40s.
  5. Lastly, the massive Li-Ion 4500 mAh battery can be charged through a 22.5W charger.

Design and Display

The first impression of the Zte Blade V40s design layout is good as the company is providing a refreshing camera module with two fabulous shade options to choose from. You can pick between Black and Blue according to your wish, while both color variant gives professional and premium vibes at the same time. Apart from this, the phone got a boxy side frame with a slim bezel display.

Overall, the build quality looks pretty unique from the standards of the ZTE brand’s phones, and it does give an edge over other phones. But what makes this phone more interesting would be the lightweight body with a slimmer frame size. With this, the holding experience would be superb. However, we would recommend putting a cover on the back panel as there’s no protection coating available.

Aside from this, the front display brings impressive colors and contrast through a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with FHD resolution. Through this combo, you can stream Netflix, YouTube, or Amazon Prime without any hassle. Still, HDR content support is not possible on this phone, while corning glass protection seems to be missing too. Yet, the company provides presentable brightness support, but it’s not that bright outdoors.

Memory and Internal

The performance aspect of the ZTE Blade V40s is average compared to other options, but still, the 12nm Unisoc UMS512T T618 chipset handles most of the processing tasks in a pretty hassle-free manner. As for the processing speed, the CPU single-core performance can go up to 2×2.0GHz of cloaking speed, which is quite good. But sadly, the chipset is limited to 4G connectivity and you won’t find 5G support here.

On the other hand, the MyOS 12 offers a wide range of functions to explore the interface and customize the overall appearance of the system as your wish. Following this, you will also attain the latest Android 12 firmware perks. But despite all of the efforts, you will notice a few bloatware applications inside the interface, which might ruin the overall user experience of this phone.

Anyway, you can remove some of the pre-installed apps to get a clean UI experience without much difficulty. Moreover, the company also makes sure you are getting enough storage support with 128GB UFS 2.2 memory and additional performance with 8GB RAM support. Not to forget, the Blade V40s also have a dedicated secondary storage unit under the hood.

Camera

The camera’s placement on the back panel is designed beautifully with an LED flash. The primary camera setup includes a 50MP main, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth lens. Aside from this, the 8MP selfie lens provides decent photo quality. Specs-wise, the camera module is pretty much the same as most midrange phones, and it’s missing an ultra-wide lens.

But still, the camera quality is quite good in daylight as you can capture your best moments with apt AI software. Furthermore, the phone also tweaks the photos to produce natural colors with proper contrast and exposure while maintaining details. But when you zoom in, you will notice pixel dispersion. However, low-light images are below average and noise is visibly visible in the darker areas.

However, the night mode slightly improves the overall results, but it doesn’t have a huge impact. The macro shots do have fine details to some extent, while edge detection works great with the portrait mode. Aside from this, the phone has 1080p video recording ability. Yet, there’s no video stabilization support. The camera quality could have been better in some aspects.

Battery and Others

Behind the scenes, the ZTE Blade V40s smartphone is powered by a Li-Ion 4500 mAh battery. Through this much battery capacity, the phone can render up to 5+ hours of screen time to enjoy causal gaming, streaming content, and a daily dose of the internet without any hassle. With the hope of providing 22.5W fast charging support, the phone will need roughly an hour and a half to fuel the entire battery percentage.

In terms of additional features, the phone got a decent side-mounted fingerprint scanner with a 3.5 mm jack port. However, the sound output may not be that great as the phone doesn’t have stereo speaker support. Still, the speaker renders a loud and clear output. Finally, let’s talk about the most important part. The ZTE Blade V40s is priced at $165 (Rs 13,990 in India) approx, which is a fair deal with excellent specs.

Conclusion

The ZTE Blade V40s smartphone is an affordable phone that offers various attributes that a user generally needs from a phone. It has a large and decent display with sufficient storage and performance to support your daily life activities without any hassle. However, the optimization of the battery is fairly outstanding, which means that you will be able to play video games without being distracted by anything.

There’s no denying that 5G connectivity is necessary, but when you are purchasing an affordable smartphone, you will need to sacrifice certain features in order to get the best price. Inside Malaysia, the Blade V40s are an incredible deal if you want to enjoy the internet and take lots of photos and videos. But we have to recommend an alternative phone. It would be the Vivo Y73t for better specs with 5G experience
