ZTE Blade V40 Pro Pros and Cons

ZTE Blade V40 Pro Smartphone Review – The ZTE Blade V40 lineup currently has three phones. The ZTE Blade V40s and Blade V40 Vita were released in Malaysia, while the ZTE Blade V40 Pro smartphone was unveiled by the Mexican smartphone maker around July 2022. On the same note, there’s no doubt that all of these phones are part of the mid-range segment that provides incredible perks at quite an affordable price point. For today’s review, we have the ZTE Blade V40 Pro smartphone.

The first impression of the Blade V40 Pro is quite different from the initial expectations, as it comes equipped with a decent performance chipset, a massive battery, and a few more perks to appeal to interested buyers. But there’s no denying it has a handful of flaws in this phone since the company needs to cut some corners to make the device profitable for them. Plus, not adding 5G connectivity also looks like a great strategic move from the company. Let’s head toward the ZTE Blade V40 Pro review to find out more details about this phone.

ZTE Blade V40 Pro Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The phone arrives with a standard 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with decent colors and a regular 60Hz refresh rate.
  2. As for the software layering, the device renders outdated Android 11 with some custom features.
  3. ZTE Blade V40 Pro brings a Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset under the hood with good enough GPU support.
  4. In terms of the camera setup, an adequate 64MP triple camera combines with a 16MP selfie lens.
  5. Moving to the battery section, a Li-Po 5100 mAh battery is refueled through a 65W fast charging block.

Design and Display

The ZTE Blade V40 Pro smartphone arrives with a matte finish design layout, and you can choose between two shade options. The phone can be purchased in Dark Green and Iridescent White. Both of them look brilliant, yet if you want to choose one between them, then it might be difficult. But to give you an overview, the green color variants look more professional with the new camera module.

On the other hand, the Iridescent White gives the Aurora a fancy appearance, which gives the phone a fancy appearance. With this, you can determine what you want in the first place. Next, let’s talk about the build quality. The phone might not look or feel that heavy, but it weighs around 190 grams. The in-hand feel is okay, and the side frame looks slightly bulky.

Speaking of the front display, the ZTE Blade V40 Pro has a thin bezel dot-notch 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Since it’s an OLED panel, the colors pop up and provide proper contrast while watching content. As for the security features, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner is provided on this phone. But sadly, the brightness level is not that great for outdoor usage.

Memory and Internal

The hardware section brings an average processing unit to the ZTE Blade V40 Pro smartphone. You are getting the 12nm Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset, which is a decent option for mid-range smartphones. But you can’t expect a phenomenal performance that goes off the charts. Instead, the performance end provides a stable day-to-day usage type configuration. although the graphics level is also mediocre.

First of all, the software end could have been better with the latest Android 12. But still, the company is trying to deliver Android 11, which might not be a good choice for users. Plus, it’s not confirmed whether the company will provide future Android updates.

At least there’s one thing clear about this phone, which is that you will receive a sufficient 128GB of storage. Through this, you can store your multiple media files without any trouble, while at the same time, the 6GB of RAM support will enhance the performance level to some extent. However, you won’t find a secondary storage option inside the SIM tray.

Camera

The camera quality of the ZTE Blade V40 Pro is average compared to other brands since the camera tech doesn’t have a proper image processing unit. But on the other hand, for the last few years, smartphone makers have been working on AI software to enhance the overall quality, which paid off in this phone. The 64MP primary lens enables impressive colors, crisp contrast, and apt exposure in the daylight with proper details.

Although, if you are not using the night mode in the dark or indoors, the camera app struggles to produce attractive results while noise is visible in each shot. Apart from this, if you switch on the night mode, the overall low-light photography gets boosted a bit. Following this, the portrait mode photos give fine details with good edge definition using a 2MP depth lens. Next, there’s a 2MP macro lens for close-up shots, but not that close.

The combo of the 2MP lenses does feel outdated. Instead of this, an ultra-wide lens would be preferred. But anyway, the 16MP single lens doesn’t disappoint and renders good details, apt colors, and crisp sharpness in each image. In terms of video recording, 1080p resolution videos are possible with this phone. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support video stabilization software.

Battery and Others

The battery department is led by a Li-Po 5100 mAh battery, which is more than sufficient for most of the user’s needs. With this battery capacity, you can freely play games, stream your favorite content, or just do your daily social media activities without any hassle, and even after this, the ZTE Blade V40 Pro smartphone will have some battery left. Besides this, the phone will provide up to six hours of usage.

On the other hand, you are also getting 65W of fast charging support. Moreover, it only needs 30 minutes to refuel the battery capacity, which is quite a good thing. Furthermore, the sound output is superb and loud, but it’s not as loud as the stereo speaker. Lastly, the ZTE Blade V40 Pro smartphone arrives with a price tag of $220 (Rs 18,000 in India) approx, which is a bit of an exaggerated deal for a 4G phone.

Conclusion

The ZTE Blade V40 Pro is not a perfect phone, it has its equal share of flaws and good qualities as well. But when we look at the mid-range segment, this phone will sooner or later be forgotten by the masses as there are several smartphone releases every day. But after Blade V40 Pro is launched in the Mexican smartphone market, it will stay on the shopping list of a few users for a few months. Apart from this, the device doesn’t go worldwide.

But we can’t deny the fact that this phone is a regular 4G phone, and at the same price point, you will find tons of other options, even with 5G connectivity. In case you are looking for an alternative option, we would suggest looking at the Realme Narzo 50 Pro, which will provide remarkable performance, a long-lasting battery, and decent performance. Anyway, if the ZTE Blade V40 Pro smartphone is attractive to you, you can definitely go for it.
