Although, there’s no news about the global release.

Both the models look alike, even the core specs of the two 5G phones are not poles apart, but the price difference is almost minimal. So, to enable easy understanding and comparison of these devices. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Xiaomi Redmi K50 and K50 Pro smartphones.

Xiaomi Redmi K50 and K50 Pro Review

Highlights

  1. The K50 duo has the same 6.67 inches OLED panel with a high 120 Hz refresh rate.
  2. Redmi K50 is backed by MediaTek Dimensity 8100, while the K50 Pro has MediaTek Dimensity 9000.
  3. The latest Android 12 and MIUI 13 made their place to form the operating system of both.
  4. K50 Pro equips a 108MP main lens, and the standard K50 furnishes a 48MP camera amid the triple rear camera arrangement.
  5. A 5500mAh battery with 67W fast charging and 5000mAh with 120W comes along with K50 & K50 Pro respectively.

Design and Display

Redmi phones often try to present diverse styles through their smartphones. And Redmi K50 & K50 are no exception. The standard model has a classic matte finish whereas, the crystalline back panel of Pro shines under refraction of light. However, the plastic frames, the water-drop front camera, and the typical camera module of both handsets snatch away the premium look.

On the other hand, the build is durable as the devices are drop resistant due to Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, dust & splash resistance with IP53. Also, the 201 grams weight is not excessive. Overall the holding experience would be superb. Following this, you can choose the phone shade option from Blue, Green, Black, and Gray. Choose anything that fits according to your taste and preferences.

The two Redmi phones own the same display specs. A 6.67 inches large OLED screen is accompanied by a grand 120Hz refresh rate, HDR 10+, and Dolby Vision. Moreover, a cherry on the cake is their 1200 nits peak brightness. The specs indeed speak for themselves. The flat display performs well in terms of viewing angles and content sharpness. The only miss is an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Memory and Internal

First, let’s know about the Redmi K50, which brings the new MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset. The 5nm processor’s power and heating efficiency are superb. Thus, it is apt for gaming too. As far as storage is concerned, there are three different variants possessing 8GB RAM/12GB RAM alongside 128GB/256GB internal. All of the storage variants will provide ample value in daily usage.

The K50 Pro gets an even more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000. With this chipset, you can expect flagship-level performance without any hassle, while the graphic unit end brings the latest Mali-G710 MC10 GPU under the hood. Here, you get four combinations to choose from, varying between 8GB to 12GB and 128GB to 512GB. Therefore, pick as per your personal needs.

For the software, the latest Android12 version arrives with the custom skin of MIUI13 on both handsets. Hopefully, everything here is clean, effortless & fluid. The overall interface experience is excellent, and the haptic feedback is worth noting. Apart from this, the advanced refresh rate increases the fluid experience more.

Camera

It is implied that optics for both versions can’t be one. The standard model fits a 48MP primary lens, while the K50 Pro’s camera is 108MP. Apart from the primary lens, everything is similar in both smartphones. The other two lenses provided in both models are 8MP ultra-wide & 2MP macro. And for the selfies, you receive a good enough 20MP lens.

The image quality of K50 is decent in lit surroundings but average otherwise. On the flip side, the 108 MP camera supplies upright results. Additionally, Optical Image Stabilization has dramatically improved the low-light photo quality, although the exposure could be lower than in other brands. Still, the dynamic range & details are far better.

Ultra-wide lens performance of both phones is not as good as the primary. The night pictures are noisy & lack details. Coming to Video performance, smartphones can record videos @4K, 1080p, and 720p. But the overall result from the 4k videos is satisfactory, while you will get clarity and stability on each point. Besides this, the native camera app is loaded with lots of exciting features.

Battery and Others

The battery provisions on these handsets are legendary. The Redmi K50 carries a massive 5500 Li-Po mAh power alongside 67W fast charging support, which can charge 80% in 30 minutes. Subsequently, K50 Pro serves an unbeatable combination of a 5000mAh Li-Po battery and a 120W ultra-fast charger. Moreover, the battery can be fully charged in only 19 minutes. Besides, Wireless charging and Reverse charging are absent.

Therefore, the K50 has a longer battery life but takes more time to charge itself, and vice versa is the case for the Pro version. Well, no matter what, the user will never complain about the battery in any of the models. Apart from this, smartphones offer every essential comms & sensor. The Redmi K50 is priced at $380 (Rs 28,999 in India) and Redmi K50 Pro at $470 (Rs 35,990 in India) approx.

Conclusion

All in all, the functionality of the K50 Pro is unquestionable, and its performance is on par with some flagship phones. The Xiaomi Redmi K50 Pro has everything that you can expect from a mid-range flagship phone. Although, the K50 Gaming look is slightly better. But a little compromise is worthy for such an impeccable deal. Each specification is top-notch and won’t cause any problem for you.

Talking about Redmi K50, it is one of the most cost-effective phones with more and more specs. Except for an average camera, everything else is outstanding. Considering the price and features, K50 has very few rivals and is even more recommendable as compared to Pro. Thus, one must look out for these 5G smartphones shortly when they enter the global market. In case you’re looking for something budget-friendly, you can definitely check out the Realme 9 Pro, which comes with a better chipset and battery support.
