Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power Smartphone Review – The Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power was announced on April 20, 2022, in India with a new chipset and better camera than its predecessor. The phone is available in India since April 2022. But the company is yet to provide any details about its global release.
While Redmi 10 Power may seem like an upgrade over its predecessor, it does have a couple of downgrades in the camera department. In fact, the wide-angle lens is completely removed and the phone looks a bit similar to other Redmi phones in the same price bracket. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t support 5G connectivity even though it has a new chipset. With that said, let’s begin with the review of the Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power smartphone.

Design and Display
The design of the Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power is just average and nothing fancy, which is fine as per the price bracket. The phone has a plastic body and provides a strong grip while holding the device. There is a huge black block in the upper right corner which houses both the camera module and the fingerprint sensor. Besides this, the phone feels a bit thick with 9.1mm thickness while it weighs around 203 grams. On the front, you get the water-drop notch selfie camera on the display.
The Redmi 10 power has a 6.7 inches IPS LCD display panel that has a default nits brightness support and only HD+ resolution. It features good color saturation and contrast, even at odd viewing angles. Anyways, the AMOLED panel is missing on the device and the absence of a high refresh rate makes the deal even worse. Fortunately, you get the Corning gorilla glass 3 protection on the phone while the overall display experience is below average. The phone is available in Power Black and Sporty Orange color option.
Memory and Internal
The Redmi 10 Power equips the 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G chipset that can reach up to a max of 2.4GHz clocking speed. This chipset is quite powerful and can handle heavy applications and gaming while consuming less energy. The Adreno 610 GPU can run many games, including PUBG and CODm, although you will need to lower the graphics to enjoy smooth gameplay. The chipset is extremely efficient but it gets overheated during heavy gaming.
The phone comes in a single variant of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. If you plan to upgrade the storage later, there’s support for a dedicated MicroSD card slot as well. What’s so disturbing about the phone is that it still runs on stock Android 11 out of the box. It has Android 11, at a time when Google has already promised to release Android 13 this year. If it’s any consolation, the MIUI version is at least version 13 which is the latest. There is no news about the latest Android 12 OS update for this phone while you get some bloatware application pre-installed on the device.
Camera
The phone has a dual-camera setup, with a 50MP sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. From the back, you may think it has a quad-camera but that’s just a false image, which looks deceiving. Let’s forget about all this and begin with the main camera which is actually quite amazing. The pictures have good enough details, but the dynamic range is average, but that’s okay, especially considering the price of the smartphone. Anyways, the pictures lack detailing sometimes but the daylight photography feels decent from the main camera.
However, pictures taken at night, are not so great and phones struggle to capture a decent image. There’s a considerable drop in detail level, and the pictures may look a lot grainy. So, this phone is not for low light. This phone’s predecessor at least had an 8MP ultra-wide, which may not have been that good, but at least it was there. But the Redmi 10 Power doesn’t have it. The 5MP selfie sensor is just bad, like really bad. When it comes to video recording, both the rear and selfie cameras record video at 1080p@30fps.
Battery and Others
The new Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power has a huge Li-Po 6000 mAh battery capacity. The phone will last 2 days on standby and grants 5+ hours of watch time. For charging, you get an 18W fast-charger to quickly recharge the battery. The phone also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C charging port. The smartphone is on sale right now in India starting at $190 (Rs 14,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion
The Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power smartphone comes with a substandard 720p screen, which is just not acceptable at this price in 2022 and that’s not the only bad thing. Other downgrades in the camera section as compared to its predecessor don’t do this phone any favor either. If the company had sacrificed all that and had provided 5G connectivity, then the phone wouldn’t have looked so bad. At this price, the phone doesn’t look very appealing. Even the slightly older Redmi Note 10 is a better deal at this price range.
The Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power smartphone is not a bad phone, but the number of compromises you will have to make for this phone such as display, design, or camera doesn’t seem worth the price. But if you don’t mind that, then you may choose to buy this phone. However, we would rather suggest that you go for alternatives such as the Motorola Moto G52 which comes with better specs and is a much better deal however, the final decision is up to you.
