Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G

Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G Smartphone Review – The Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G was launched in India in March 2022 and on the global market. Whether you are looking for a good camera or a 5G experience, this phone will deliver both. When it comes to the internal specs, the phone feels like an exact copy of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, but on the outside, it’s not that similar.

The design is quite unique and looks very premium. Being powered by a modern SoC, the phone is also 5G ready and supports dual 5G sim service. Let’s begin with the review to find out if the Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G can give you what you want.

Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G features 6.67 inches AMOLED display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
  2. The chipset powering the phone is the 6nm Snapdragon 695 5G SoC that goes up to 2.2GHz clocking speed.
  3. It has Android 11 OS supported by MIUI 13 customization.
  4. The main rear camera sensor is 108MP, while the selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.
  5. The Phone has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery and it comes with a 67W super-fast charging capability.

Design and Display

The whole design and the external chassis of the Poco X4 Pro are completely flat which gives it a very sophisticated look. The flat edges mean it’s not very comfortable to hold, but the flat design is less slippery and for a phone, the last thing you want is not to slip out of your hands. The device is available in Laser Black, Laser Blue, and Poco Yellow color options.

Speaking of the display, the phone has a 6.67 inches AMOLED panel that can go as bright as 1200 nits under peak sunlight. Besides this, the resolution of the panel is Full HD and it has a high 120Hz refresh rate for much smoother scrolling and user experience. Also, the phone is IP53 rated for dust and splash protection. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection but the company hasn’t provided any information on whether the rear glass of the smartphone has any sort of protection.

Memory and Internal

The Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G is powered by the 6nm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset. This is an octa-core chipset That can go up to a 2.2GHz clocking speed. This chipset features modern technologies like newer A78 cores, faster Machine Learning operation for AI processing, 5G connectivity for faster network and lower latency, along with Adreno 619 GPU, which, the company promises to provide improved graphics performance compared to the other phones in the same price.

This chipset is quite powerful and can handle all your day-to-day apps as well as power-hungry apps and games, including BGMI and COD mobile. The chipset will drain less battery power with no overheating issues and you experience decent gaming with normal graphics.

The base variant of Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G starts with 6GB RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage and goes all the way up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. As for the Android 11 OS version, you get the Android 11 with the latest MiUI 13 UI. Being a 2022 phone, it should have the latest Android 12 OS from the beginning.

Camera

The Poco X4 Pro 5G smartphone has 3 rear cameras but the 108MP camera is the main highlight of the triple rear camera system while the rest of the sensors are just 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro and so they are nothing to talk about. The main camera shoots adequately detailed photos with a good dynamic range. The photos look sharp with a good amount of detail with the right balance of color.

The highlights and details in the shadows are also adequately lit which shows promising results. The human subjects are also perfectly captured with this sensor. The skin tone and the facial details absolutely shine through. While the daytime shots were excellent, what truly surprised us was the phone’s nighttime shots. The images taken during the night with the night mode on, have a good amount of details with almost no noise. But the same cannot be said for the ultra-wide camera.

The 8MP ultra-wide camera was quite average and nothing fancy, but the night shots were really bad compared to the main camera. Now, let’s move on to the 16 MP selfie cameras, which can capture a lot of details, with good lighting, and perfect skin tone, and there’s nothing to complain about. For video recording, the phone manages to shoot up to 1080p at 30FPS from both the rear camera and the selfie camera.

Battery and Others

The phone has Li-Po 5000 mAh battery capacity. The battery easily lasts more than a day, so you don’t have to worry and with that, you get the 67W fast charger inside the box. With the 67W charger, the company promises to deliver 70% charging in just 22 minutes. There is no support for reverse charging or wireless charging, which may be disappointing for some users.

The phone has 5G support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The phone is on sale at the price of $176 (Rs. 14,570 in India) approx. Also, do keep in mind that the higher RAM variants will cost you more.
