Xiaomi Poco M2 Review

Xiaomi Poco M2 Review, Pros and Cons – Poco India, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, unveiled its new smartphone, Poco M2, which is the company’s third installation this year. In fact, the M2 is a scaled-down version of the newly launched intermediary phone, the Poco M2 Pro. In fact, it hardly matches the design and specifications of the Poco M2 Pro in any way, however, it takes away most of its features of the Indian variant Redmi 9 Prime. In addition, it is more powerful in terms of performance and loading speed compared to the Redmi 9 Prime. Let’s see a detailed analysis of Poco M2.

Xiaomi Poco M2 Review

Highlights

  1. The huge 5000mAh Li-Po battery can provide a decent backup with up to 12 hours of gaming combined with 18W fast charging
  2. Thanks to the configuration of the 13 MP quad camera, which can take impressive pictures
  3. The Mediatek Helio G80 octa-core processor can offer exceptional performance
  4. The company took care of the protection by providing Gorilla Glass 3 and Water-repellent coating

Design and Display

First of all, the Xiaomi Poco M2 comes in three impressive catchy colors, namely Pitch Black, Brick Red, and Slate Blue, which will definitely attract specific buyers. Continuing, the design of the Poco M2 is not something to boast about, the V notch selfie camera along with a thick chin at the bottom. On the other hand, we have a vertically aligned quad-camera setup, along with an attached fingerprint reader.

At this price, we can’t expect more than a plastic back, however, it is resistant to fingerprints, so there is no need to clean it frequently. To ensure your phone is always safe, Poco has provided two essential things – one is Gorilla Glass 3 and the other is the P2i coating for water resistance.

It is nice to see a 6.53 inches IPS LCD Full HD+ screen as customers today prefer. In addition, a 19:5:9 ratio of the screen to the body helps the user to get an unparalleled viewing experience while watching videos or playing games.

Memory and Internal

The next level Mediatek Helio G80 is always ready to provide a very decent and consistent performance equipped with GPU Mali-G52 MC2 for unprecedented graphic tasks, such as playing PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, etc. MIUI 11 UI based on Android 10 is integrated into the device which is full of customizations, interesting animations, and, fortunately, without ads, unlike other Redmi phones are available.

Soon, it could be upgraded to MIUI 12, which comes with exclusive features like Super wallpapers, floating windows, and more. Speaking of internal storage, although the Poco M2 is a rebrand of Redmi 9 Prime, it has more RAM for faster loading and smoother operation compared to the 9 Prime. Basically, the company brought two memory variants to the market, they kept the RAM size fixed in both variants, which is 6 GB RAM, for 64 GB and 128 GB storage.

Camera

When it comes to cameras, you will be surprised to learn that the Poco M2 is powered by a 13MP AI quad-camera setup, which is quite surprising from the company for providing only in Rs 10,999. In detail, we have a quad-camera configuration vertically aligned with the macro lens on one side.

In details, we have a regular 13MP AI main sensor to take normal photos, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens to capture a larger view, a macro of 5MP sensor for taking close-up photos of tiny objects, and, last but not least, a 2MP depth sensor that is usually needed to click on portrait images. The 13 MP AI camera is capable of recording slow-motion videos, 1080p at 30fps videos, and can improve image quality by its AI and HDR technology that works for various objects and scenes.

On the other hand, the waterdrop notch features an 8MP selfie camera so you can capture flawless and clear selfies. In addition, with this 8 MP camera, you can face unlocking your device just by looking at the phone and it instantly unlocks using AI technology.

Battery and Others

Powered by a 5000 mAh Li-Po battery, the Poco M2 is a beast when it comes to battery backup performance, as the user can easily get a good screen on time along with a decent stand by time.

For gaming enthusiasts, this 5000mAh battery paired with HyperEngine technology is a blessing, as about 12 hours of games can be made according to the company. One of the company’s unique features is the IR blaster, through which various electronic devices can be controlled with great ease.

Both variants of the Poco M2 are very reasonably priced in terms of features included – the 64 GB variant sells for $ 149 (10,999 INR) and the superior 128 GB variant comes for $170 (12,499 INR).
