Design and Display
In terms of the design and visual changes, not much has changed with the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 from its predecessor, Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. However, you will instantly feel just how premium it is as soon as you pick up the phone. This foldable phone is extremely thin and lightweight, which significantly improves the user experience.
Everything else remains the same in terms of design, except for the camera module on the back, which is slightly curvier now. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is available in Black, White, and Blue colors. Now, let’s focus on the two displays of the smartphone. One of them is the main display that folds inward, while the other is a cover display that is smaller and narrower than the main foldable one.
For the main display, the phone has a 7.98-inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This panel has a 1.5K resolution and a peak brightness of 3000 nits, making it an extremely good panel for viewing content. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, so you will be able to play Dolby Vision movies on this foldable phone.
As for the cover display, it has a 6.56-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is an FHD+ panel and can also view Dolby Vision content like the main display. It can also get as bright as 3000 nits under direct sunlight, so using it outdoors won’t be an issue. Apart from that, the cover display is protected against scratch resistance, but there’s no official mention of the brand. Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 also has IPX8 water resistance but no dust resistance sadly.
Memory and Internal
The chipset powering the new Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 5G, which can reach CPU clock speeds of up to 1×3.3GHz. It’s a true multitasking champion. Even high graphical fidelity games like Genshin Impact, CODm, Black Desert Mobile, Summoners War, and PUBG can be played at the highest graphical and framerate options.
After all, the Adreno 750 GPU is the most powerful mobile GPU as of this writing. The large size of the foldable smartphone also helps dissipate heat and keep the phone cooler during long gaming sessions. The smartphone comes with Android 14 out of the box with a HyperOS user interface, which offers a lot of customization choices. The smartphone also has support for 5G connectivity, which allows for gigabit download speeds and low latency in multiplayer games. The new Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 can be purchased with up to 12GB/16GB of RAM & 256GB/512GB/1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.
Camera
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 has a 50MP quad camera setup in the back. The main 50MP camera has some fantastic optimizations for light sensitivity, which allows the camera to shoot some fantastic shots with great detail levels and saturated colors. The second camera is a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, which can capture shots that look crisp.
However, if you believe the 2x zoom is not enough, then the third 10MP periscopic camera with 5x optical zoom will surely satisfy you. This lens is capable of taking some of the most impressive zoomed shots and the details of these shots come out cleaner than any other foldable smartphone. The last camera is the 12MP ultra-wide, which also manages to produce some equally great shots with 120˚ FOV and little to no color shift compared to the main sensor.
As for selfies, there are two 16MP selfie cameras, one for each display. The two cameras are the same and the pictures coming out of this sensor have a good amount of detail and a very natural skin tone. When it comes to video recording, the rear cameras can shoot up to 8K@24FPS, while the selfie camera can only shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p@60FPS. Also, the rear has Dolby Vision HDR stabilization but the same cannot be said for the selfie cameras.
Battery and Others
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 has a high-capacity 5100mAh battery inside, which can provide a full day’s worth of battery with light usage that includes a bit of photography, Netflix streaming, and a bit of social media. However, if you play a lot of games, the phone won’t last a full day and will need a recharge again by the end of the night.
When you do need to recharge, you will be glad to know that the smartphone supports 67W wired fast charging that can fully charge the phone in just 45 minutes. There’s support for 50W wireless charging as well and it can fully charge the smartphone in just about an hour. Apart from that, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 has support for triple-band Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C connector for charging. As for pricing, the phone starts at $1241 (Rs 1,03,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is a fantastic foldable phone, and it brings some much-needed improvements over its predecessor, Fold 3. The changes and upgrades aren’t too drastic, but they are just enough to make the foldable experience a whole lot better. It is now lighter and slimmer while also having a bigger battery. The new improvements, along with a better chipset and camera system, make the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 a fantastic foldable phone.
If you want the best display, processor, camera, battery life, better user experience, and most importantly, a reasonable price tag, then the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is the one to go for. The only con we could see is the missing protection against dust, which is not a deal breaker but would have been nice to have.
The only decent alternative to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was just released a few days ago. The Samsung foldable has slightly better build quality and also has dust protection, but the price is also higher. However, you will miss out on how thin and lightweight the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is comparatively. Nonetheless, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
