Xiaomi 17 Max

Xiaomi 17 Max Specifications

The Xiaomi 17 Max was announced and released on May 21, 2026. It is a top-level flagship phone. Right away, it looks impressive with a premium glass and aluminum body and IP68 water resistance it can survive in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. But the best part is the huge 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen. It is stunning 68 billion colors, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and an amazing peak brightness of 3500 nits. That means you will see clear details even in bright sunlight. With a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and very thin bezels (over 90% screen-to-body ratio), it is great for gaming, movies, or just browsing. It runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip (3nm) an octa-core CPU running up to 4.6GHz and an Adreno 840 GPU. Simply put, this phone is very fast and can handle anything you do on it.

The camera is serious, with a Leica-designed triple camera setup. The main camera is a huge 200MP sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization) for sharp, detailed photos. A 50MP periscope telephoto lens gives you 3x optical zoom, and another 50MP ultrawide (102-degree field of view) captures wide landscapes or group photos. You can also shoot pro-level video 8K HDR and 4K at 120fps. The front-facing 32MP selfie camera can record 4K video. Battery life is amazing an 8000 mAh silicon-carbon battery keeps you going for two days easily. When you need to charge, 100W wired charging (compatible with PD3.0, QC3+, and 100W PPS) fills it up quickly. Plus, you get 50W wireless charging and even 22.5W reverse wired/wireless charging, so you can charge your earbuds or a friend’s phone from the 17 Max.

Connectivity is future-proof. It supports all major 5G bands (including newer ones like 80, 81, 83, 84, 89 SA/NSA) and a long list of 4G bands for travel around the world. It also has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 with high-quality audio codecs (aptX HD, LHDC 5), and multi-system GPS (L1+L5 bands for accuracy). Storage starts at 256GB with up to 16GB RAM (UFS 4.1). There is no microSD slot, though. It also has an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res audio, Snapdragon Sound, and even an infrared port to use it as a remote control. Available in Black, Blue, or White, priced around $640 (about Rs 60,800 in India). The Xiaomi 17 Max packs flagship features without costing too much — a true max-everything phone for power users and tech lovers.

Xiaomi 17 Max Pros and Cons

Based on the above specs, you can see the list of pros and cons (advantages and disadvantages) of the Xiaomi 17 Max smartphone.

Pros

  1. The phone includes a massive 8000 mAh battery. This lets you easily use the device for two full days without needing to find a charger.
  2. The display supports 3500 nits peak brightness. This means you can see the screen clearly even under direct summer sunlight.
  3. The main camera is 200 MP with OIS. This lets you take extremely detailed and sharp photos without blur, even when your hands shake a little.
  4. The chipset uses a 3 nm processor and a powerful Adreno 840 GPU. This makes the phone very fast for heavy gaming and multitasking without overheating.
  5. The device has IP68 dust/water resistance. You can safely drop it in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes without damaging it.
  6. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. This can charge the huge 8000 mAh battery from 0% to full in under 40 minutes.
  7. The phone includes 22.5W reverse wireless and reverse wired charging. You can use it like a power bank to charge other devices.
  8. It has a periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. This lets you take clear, close-up photos of distant objects without losing quality.
  9. The device runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 out of the box. This gives you the latest software features and security updates for the next few years.
  10. The phone has an Infrared (IR) port. You can use it like a remote control.
  11. The phone comes with NFC. You can tap your phone to pay or quickly connect to other devices without any hassle.

Cons

  1. The phone has no expandable storage (no microSD card slot). You cannot add extra memory later, so you must buy the expensive high-storage model upfront.
  2. It is quite heavy at 219-225 grams. Holding this phone for a long time while watching videos or gaming can make your wrist feel tired.
  3. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack. You cannot use wired headphones unless you buy a separate USB-C adapter.
  4. The selfie camera records only up to 4K@30fps not 60fps. Video calls or vlogs recorded with the front camera may look less smooth than rear-camera videos.
  5. It works with QC3+ charging, not the newer QC5. If you use a charger that is not from the same brand, it will charge slower than the top speed of 100W.
  6. The back is made of glass and aluminum. Without a case, this phone is very slippery and will easily slide off.
  7. It costs about $640, which is a medium to high price. For that amount of money, some other phones give you better zoom (like 5x or 10x optical zoom) or a titanium body.
  8. The phone does not support emergency SOS satellite messaging.
