WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to send short video messages in chats
The video messages are similar to voice messages, but with the added benefit of showing your face and expressions.
The video messages can be up to 60 seconds long, and are protected with end-to-end encryption, just like other WhatsApp messages
To send a video message, you just need to tap the microphone button at the bottom right of the chat screen, and switch to video mode by tapping the camera icon.
You can then hold the video button to record your message, or swipe up to lock and record hands-free.
You can also review your video and add a caption before sending it to your contacts.
The video messages will play automatically on mute when opened in a chat, and you can tap on the video to start the sound.
WhatsApp says that video messages are a fun way to share moments with all the emotion that comes from video, whether it’s wishing someone a happy birthday, laughing at a joke, or bringing good news.
The new feature has begun rolling out on the app and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp is not the first messaging app to offer video messages, as rivals like Telegram, Signal, and Snapchat already have similar features.
