Vivo Y54s

Vivo Y54s Review – After a long wait, Vivo finally presented the Y-series smartphone to a mid-range category called the Vivo Y54s smartphone. The smartphone was announced on 18th November 2021 and it is expected that the phone will be released in January 2022.

Vivo Y54s supports a 5G network connection as well as a decent battery and chipset. As for the price, it is justified because the company has cut corners to keep the price low. The phone has a larger display, advanced operating system, decent processor, and chipset as well graphics card. Let’s start the detailed review of the Vivo Y54s smartphone and hope it will help you to make the smart decision before investing your money in it.

Vivo Y54s Review

Highlights

  1. Vivo Y54s features a 6.51 inches tall display made of an IPS LCD panel.
  2. The octa-core processor is integrated with MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset for decent performance.
  3. The operating system of this smartphone is Android 11 in combination with OriginOS 1.0 custom UI.
  4. It has a primary camera of 13MP along with a depth camera as well as a front-facing camera of 8MP for selfies.
  5. Vivo Y54s is powered by a large Li-Po of Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, supported by an 18W fast charger. So, it will easily keep you connected throughout the day.

Design and Display

The weight of this Vivo Y54s smartphone is only 188.4 grams. The thickness is only 8.5 mm, so you can carry this lightweight smartphone anywhere with pleasure. Talking about the color option, the Y54s comes in two different colors: Blue and Black. No doubt, both colors are professional and it perfectly matches the overall design of this smartphone. The frame and back of this smartphone are made of plastic.

The display of the Y54s phone is 6.51 inches made up of IPS LCD panels. The resolution offered by Vivo Y54s is 720 pixels and has a PPI density of ~270. You will get decent colors and consistent images from wide viewing angles.

For the IPS panels, you won’t face any tailing effects (a shadow moves behind the finger while you dragging) on the screen when touched. Besides, it will have clear images and a stable response time as well. Sadly, the phone offers an average refresh rate of 60Hz, which can be a problem for fast scrolling.

Memory and Internal

Same as the Vivo Y50t in terms of storage, the Vivo Y54s has 128GB of internal memory supported by 6GB of RAM is quite decent for low-budget phones. However, there is no other variant of RAM or Internal Memory. This much storage is more than sufficient for regular users, but if you are a video creator or vlogger, you may need more storage. So Vivo Y54s has featured a dedicated micro-SD card slot. That means you can use two SIM cards plus one SD card.

The performance metrics will be also good for the Y54s, as the phone operates on Android 11 OS in combination with custom UI OriginOS 1.0. Definitely, there will be a lot for customization, which will facilitate a smooth user experience (UI). Talking about the chipset, it has MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700, which is built upon the latest 7nm technology. The phone has the support of 5G as well as has got Octa-Core processor of a maximum of 2× 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76.

The good news for the gamers, the 7nm chipset will deliver a top-notch gaming experience. You can run games like PUBG, BGMI, and any other standard games with pleasure, but sometimes you may face heating issues. Plus the Mali-G57 MC2 graphics card will take the visual aspect to a next level.

Camera

The camera department of Vivo Y54s is not that strong, in spite of having a dual-camera setup. The primary camera is only 13MP and the 2MP depth camera is not enough for professional-level photography. Surely, when there is enough exposure to light, you can capture some decent-quality pictures and videos as well. The main camera can record videos at 30fps and supports up to 1080 pixels resolution.

To capture selfies, you get a single 8MP front camera. This is also capable to capture videos at 30 fps and supports up to 1080 resolution for video recording. Pictures on this front camera will be a bit soft, but you can get beautiful portraits through the AI features, in an environment with sufficient light. As there is no video stabilization (both in the front and rear camera), you may compromise the video quality at 1080p resolution.

Battery and Others

Vivo Y54s has a larger Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, so you will stay connected for the entire day, even if you play games and watch videos for a few hours. Coming to the charging time, it may take up to 2 hours to charge this smartphone from zero to 100 percent. This much charging time is decent with an 18W fast charger.

Among other external features, the Y54s got a 3.5 mm audio jack, loudspeaker, a USB Type-C 2.0 charging port. Moving on the right, you’ll find the volume controls and the power button which is with a fingerprint scanner. Let’s see the price tag, Vivo Y54s is available at a cost of $270 (19,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

Vivo is famous for its low-budget smartphone with decent features. Vivo Y54s is one of the low-budget smartphones that comes with 5G support, a large screen size, huge battery support, and a decent chipset. As per the current market competition, the Y54s looks like an overpriced smartphone, and the main reason will be the low-quality camera lens. If we compare it with other smartphones on the market, it has lost some important features like gyro-EIS, FHD, IP certification, and gorilla glass protection.

But still, because of its decent chipset and 5g support, you can definitely opt for the Y54s. I hope this review will help you to choose the right smartphone as per your need. However, if you are looking for an alternative option, you can definitely take a look at the Redmi Note 11T smartphone.
