Vivo Y33s

Vivo Y33s Review, Pros and Cons – Here we got another good one from Vivo, the Vivo Y33s. Vivo Y33s is a mid-range smartphone from the company. This smartphone was announced and launched in August 2021.

It has some solid specs, a high-quality camera, a sharp screen, and decent battery support. Reviews are telling me that this may be one of the best mid-range cameras available right now, so if you’re looking to upgrade your phone and improve your camera, it may be a chance. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Vivo Y33s smartphone.

Vivo Y33s Review

Highlights

  1. This is a slim and light smartphone that comes with a 6.58 inch tall IPS LCD screen.
  2. The Mediatek Helio G80 chipset, in addition to the 2.0GHz Octa-Core processor and the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, will support all the daily tasks without any problems.
  3. The Vivo Y33s smartphone OS is based on Android 11 and is compatible with Funtouch 11.1 custom UI software, which offers many features and customizations.
  4. The phone offers a 50 MP main rear camera also has a 16 MP selfie camera.
  5. The Vivo Y33s is powered by a giant 5000 mAh battery. In addition, it supports the 18 Watt fast charging feature.

Design and Display

This smartphone weighs just 182 grams and all the features are wrapped in an 8mm thick body and which makes holding this smartphone a pleasure. It has two color variants: midday dream and mirror black. In terms of quality, what I can say is a strong smartphone. I can do this because the frame is made of plastic. The back of the phone is also made of plastic and has a liquid crystal coating with a mirror finish that makes the phone less subject to fingerprints and smudges.

Now talking about the screen, the Vivo Y33s smartphone comes with a 6.58-inches IPS LCD display. Offers resolutions up to 1080p. Unfortunately, the 60Hz display rate is such a drag that it can’t provide the fast, smooth scrolling we see on other smartphones.

But the good thing is that the viewing angles are good on this smartphone and the content on the watch is just as good. However, consuming youtube content is great on this smartphone, but for NetFlix users, this device doesn’t support HDR content, so you won’t get deep blacks and high contrasts. Let’s dive into the screen settings, it has a screen color where you can change the color mode and temperature, which is a plus for the brighter screen. It’s bright enough to be used outdoors, but you’ll struggle in direct sunlight.

Memory and Internal

Now, for performance, the Vivo Y33s smartphone is built on the MediaTek Helio G80 processor. It has a 12-nanometer gaming chipset that offers increased clock speed, making the smartphone somewhat nimble. For multitasking, the Vivo Y33s comes with 4GB or 8 GB of RAM. In addition, the smartphone offers 128GB of internal storage, as well as a dedicated SD card slot. Hope you don’t face storage problems, capturing videos, storing images and files, etc.

For gamers playing is average, it will run PUBG in HD graphics with a decent frame rate but you may face heating issues. For the OS, the Y33s phone is running Android 11 with Funtouch OS 11.1 UI. No doubt it has many custom features. Well, this smartphone has minimal bloatware, which is great for future Android software updates. However, there is no news from Vivo if the smartphone will have an Android 12 update.

Camera

For cameras, the Vivo Y33s comes with a 16 MP front camera. The photos from the front camera are a little soft, but in daylight, they really do take good photos. The portrait shots, on the other hand, also look good, my only complaint with the front camera is when you zoom in you notice that the 16 MP camera has no details. The front camera of the Vivo Y33s captures 1080p video at 30 frames per second. However, no video the stabilization is there. So the audio quality video coming out 1080p camera on Vivo Y33s will be compromised.

Now, moving to the rear cameras will surprise you. The phone comes with a 50 MP main camera, a 2 MP depth camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. The 50 MP main camera is impressive, the dynamic range is active as long as you turn on the HDR portal. Unfortunately, you don’t have HDR support.

The photos are sharp and it does a good job of separating the subject from the background. The night shots using the 50MP camera are average. Let’s switch to the rear camera. It’s shooting 4K videos at 30 frames per second, but guess what it has an amazing video stabilization (gyro-EIS sensor) that makes the footage stable.

Battery and Others

The Vivo Y33s has a battery of 5000 mAh battery and would easily last all day. For charging time, it took about one and half hours to charge this smartphone from zero to one hundred percent. With an 18W fast charger, the Vivo Y33s charging time isn’t bad. The Vivo Y33s also features reverse charging and you can use it to charge your headphones or even another smartphone. To mention other external features like, it comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and a speaker.

On the left side, there is nothing at the top is where the dual sim and memory card is located. Moving to the right side is where the volume keys and Power Slash fingerprint scanner are located. Both the fingerprint reader and the facial unlock feature are not the fastest, but they are accurate and work perfectly. In terms of price, the Vivo Y33s will cost you around $240 (Rs 17,990 approx).

  3. 4K video recording with gyro-EIS support.
  4. Decent daylight photography.
  5. Dedicated micro SD card.

  2. No dust and water resistance.
  3. Default 60Hz refresh rate.
  4. Not suitable for high-end graphics games.
  5. Ultrawide camera is missing.
  6. Not for low-light photography.
  7. Outdated USB Type-C 2.0 charging port.
  8. Without 5G support.

Conclusion

The Vivo Y33s shines with its 50MP main camera. It takes very good pictures, the battery on this smartphone is good and will last all day easily, in addition to having a reverse charge. The FHD screen quality is good for an IPS LCD display, but the lack of a high refresh rate will turn some people off. The front camera takes good pictures in daylight and huge battery support is also there.

This phone is definitely not the perfect choice at this price point. It doesn’t even support 5G, it doesn’t have gorilla glass or Dragon Trail glass protection, and for water resistance, it doesn’t have an IP rating. Ignoring these points, the Vivo Y33s can be a good budget smartphone for its users. If you’re looking for an alternative option, you can definitely take a look at the Realme Q3s, which is a decent 5G phone in the same price range.
