Vivo Y21T smartphone

Vivo Y21G Smartphone Review- The Vivo Y-series phones usually deal in the affordable mid-range segment. Recently, the company come up with a new smartphone known as the Vivo Y21G. Yes, the device is the successor of the Vivo Y20G. Hopefully, this time the makers do focus on the design that will also appeal to the offline market buyers. We all know that Vivo is known for its flashy fashion sense smartphone, and it’s true for the Y21G as well.

Though, you will notice that it has some similarities to its sibling Vivo Y21. For now, the phone is currently exclusive to India, but at the same time, there’s hope that the company brand this phone for other smartphone markets. But sadly, the device doesn’t support 5G connectivity, which is one of the crucial parts while buying a phone. So, without any further ado, let’s head toward the in-depth review of the Vivo Y21G Smartphone.

Vivo Y21G Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The phone arrives with a 6.51-inches IPS LCD panel that grants impressive colors and contrast.
  2. As for the hardware section, the device equips the 12 nm Mediatek MT6769 Helio G70 chipset for subtle performance.
  3. The software department handles the Android 11 and Funtouch 11.1 OS.
  4. In terms of the camera support, there’s a 13MP dual camera setup with an 8MP selfie.
  5. The powerhouse of the Li-Po 5000 mAh massive battery brings a standard 18W fast charging speed charger.

Design and Display

The Vivo Y21G doesn’t have anything that outshines its design layout from the rest of the competition. But as we all know that Vivo knows for its aesthetic design layout, and is also shown here. For anybody, the first impression would be pretty astounding as you are getting vibrant shade options.

There are two color options available in the market for the Vivo Y21G smartphone. It includes Diamond Glow and Midnight Blue. Both of them look pretty fancy as the Vivo phone and shine well in the contact of light. On the same note, the dimension of this phone is slim and the device doesn’t feel that heavy. Thanks to its 182-gram weight and 8-mm thick body.

Apart from the dimension, the build quality feels slightly downgraded due to cheap plastic, but the glossy pattern design gives an additional push to enhance the overall appearance. On the front side, you will obtain a water drop notch 6.51-inches IPS LCD panel that offers an HD resolution screen. Although, you won’t get proper glass protection here.

Memory and Internal

Under the hood, you are getting the average joe 12 nm Mediatek MT6769 Helio G70 chipset. It might not have an impressive processing core configuration, nor does the Vivo Y21G score well on the performance rating forums. But it does it work properly when it comes to multitasking and regular social media consumption. Hopefully, you can play some games.

But you won’t get that robust performance or touch response experience as it’s yet another entry-level mid-range phone. It may survive a few hours of gaming, but you will notice overheating issue for sure. On the other hand, the software end is loaded with lots of bloatware apps. Though you can remove some of them, you can’t do anything regarding preinstalled system app.

The Android 11 operating system on the Funtouch 11.1 interface skin looks as if you are getting tons of customization features, wallpapers, and widgets. But at the same time, the company only renders 64GB of internal storage with 4GB of RAM. Fortunately, it’s great news that the phone is supported by a dedicated SD card slot. With this, you can expand storing limits to some extent.

Camera

The camera quality of mid-range phones like Vivo Y21G often comes out to be average. The reason is simple, the company doesn’t invest much in the camera department, instead of that, they solely focus on selling the device. So, they are working on the design. But we can’t deny that the first impression of the Y21G camera setup feels pretty underwhelming. Moreover, the AI tech is not improved compared to the previous-gen phone.

However, it doesn’t mean that the worst. You will receive a dual-camera setup that leads by the 13MP primary lens that grants decent colors and saturation. So, getting natural photos are obvious, but the results are most of the time either hit or miss. Though, the details are good to some extent, unless you zoom into the images and notice grains. As for the portrait mode, the images don’t look original.

The lowlight photography from this camera is disappointing, and hard to tell where the object is. Following this, the camera island also includes a 2MP macro lens to increase details in the close-up shots. On the other hand, there’s an 8MP selfie camera that provides adequate results with various filters and modes. In terms of the video recording the phone only goes up to 1080p recording.

Battery and Others

As for the battery department, the Vivo Y21G is powered via a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery. With this battery, you don’t have to worry about screen time if you are not a heavy user. On an average of 5+ hours of screen time, there’s still some battery life left at the end of the day. Through this, you can watch social media feeds, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and many more.

Following this, you will also attain an 18W fast charging support that can refuel the phone in less than an hour and a half. As for the additional features, the Vivo Y21G renders a 3.5 mm jack with decent sound output. The price point of the Vivo Y21G is around $ 167 (Rs. 13,190 in India)approx, which is a below-average deal compared to other options available present in the market.

Conclusions

The Vivo Y21G is a pretty ambiguous smartphone in the Y series, if we look at previous year’s phones, they are offering better deals under the same price range. But the most baffling thing about this phone is there’s a specific improvement that happened in the hardware or design. The phone is a straight rebranded Vivo Y21, but with different hardware.

In that case, looking for an alternative option would be a great choice. The first option would be definitely the recent release Realme C35 for its robust performance and UFS storage support, while if you can increase your budget a little bit, the Samsung Galaxy A13 can also consider a decent choice if you can overlook the eMMC storage. If not, the Realme C35 will be a deal-breaker and so choose wisely.
