Vivo T3 Ultra

Vivo T3 Ultra Smartphone Review – The Vivo T3 Ultra was announced in India in September 2024 and started shipping later that month. Even though the smartphone was initially launched in India, it will go on sale globally considering the past launch records of vivo. The vivo T3 Ultra is actually the lighter version of the vivo V40 Pro but without the advanced cameras.

The two smartphones launched at completely different price points, so some compromises had to be made. Even though the design of these two vivo phones is exactly the same, the colors are different. Besides that, the new phone comes with the same flagship-level hardware, including 5G, to impress enthusiasts and gamers. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the Vivo T3 Ultra smartphone and find out if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Vivo T3 Ultra Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The vivo T3 Ultra smartphone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz high refresh rate support.
  2. The chipset inside the smartphone is the flagship-level Mediatek Dimensity 9200+ 5G SoC, which is capable of reaching clock speeds of 1×3.35 GHz.
  3. The vivo T3 Ultra smartphone arrives with Android 14 with a Funtouch 14 user interface for better customization options.
  4. The vivo T3 Ultra smartphone has a 50MP dual rear camera system, while the selfie camera has a 50MP sensor.
  5. The phone has a 5500mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging support.

Design and Display

As we mentioned earlier, the Vivo T3 Ultra has the same design as the Vivo V40 Pro, but that doesn’t mean that the design is bad. In fact, the phone has a beautiful design, and the new Lunar Gray and Frost Green colors look absolutely majestic. On top of that, the smartphone is quite slim, and the edges are rounded, making the phone comfortable to hold.

While the design is quite elegant, we can’t say the same about the build quality. The body is made completely from plastic, but it is acceptable considering the price of the phone. On the front, the display has extremely thin bezels, which makes it look absolutely fantastic. Also, the curved screen makes the phone seem even more premium.

Speaking of the display, the new smartphone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with support for 120Hz high refresh rate. This display comes with a 1.5K resolution and is capable of featuring up to 1 billion colors. Therefore, watching content on this screen will be a fantastic experience. The screen is also scratch-resistant due to the use of Schott Xensation Alpha and the phone has an IP68 dust/water resistance. Also, the brightness of the display can reach as high as 4500 nits under direct sunlight, so using the smartphone outdoors won’t be an issue.

Memory and Internal

Vivo equipped the Vivo T3 Ultra with the Mediatek Dimensity 9200+ 5G chipset, which is capable of reaching a clock speed of 1×3.35 GHz. In terms of performance, the chipset will breeze through any app or game. This level of performance at a mid-range price point is only possible due to the combination of a flagship-level chipset and a larger vapor chamber to keep the heat from the chip under control.

This chipset may not be as fast as the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but it will you a similar level of performance. For gaming, the Immortalis-G715 MC11 GPU will take care of all your gaming needs. Playing games such as PUBGm, Summoners War, Black Desert Mobile, CODm, and Genshin Impact at the highest settings won’t be a problem.

The smartphone also supports 5G connectivity to deliver gigabit download speeds and low latency in online gaming. The smartphone also comes with Android 14 with a Funtouch 14 user interface for better customization support. As for memory and storage, the vivo T3 Ultra is available for purchase with up to 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage.

Camera

The Vivo T3 Ultra smartphone features a 50MP dual rear camera setup. The primary rear camera consists of a 50MP sensor, which is capable of taking some great shots with a high dynamic range, higher detail levels, and saturated colors. The detail levels are better than other smartphones in the same price range.

This detailed camera performance level can also be seen during nighttime photography since this sensor is properly optimized to take in more light. Combined with a better night mode algorithm, this phone produces some stellar images at night. However, a similar camera performance is not seen in the secondary camera. The 8MP ultra-wide camera is average at best and not on the same level as the main camera. This is a compromise in camera quality that we spoke about earlier when we compared it to the vivo V40 Pro.

The latter had a much better ultra-wide camera as well as a telephoto camera, but the vivo T3 Ultra is acceptable considering the price. On the front, the smartphone has a 50MP selfie camera that can capture some fantastic selfies with more details, a high dynamic range, and a natural skin tone. When it comes to video recording, both the rear and the selfie cameras can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 4K@60FPS. The videos from the rear camera are also stabilized with OIS and gyro-EIS, so the footage recorded will be quite stable.

Battery and Others

The Vivo T3 Ultra smartphone has a high-capacity Li-Ion 5500mAh battery that can run for at least 1 – 3 days. Achieving three days of battery life is possible with light usage that includes camera, texting, music, and a bit of social media. However, if you are a heavy user or play a lot of games, the battery will drain a lot faster, and the phone will struggle to even last a full day.

Also, if you use 5G to play games and download movies, the battery will drain even faster, and you may need to change the phone twice a day. Thankfully, the smartphone has support for 80W wired fast charging, which can fully charge the smartphone in just 56 minutes. However, there’s no wireless charging capability. Apart from that, the smartphone has support for dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, an under-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C connector for charging. The smartphone will start at $381 (Rs 31,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Vivo phones are usually known for great camera performance but the company went in a different direction this time around with the Vivo T3 Ultra. This is a performance-oriented smartphone targeted towards gamers, so it has a flagship-level chipset that can play games at high graphical fidelity and higher framerates.

The company also included a fantastic display to go with its powerful chipset. This display panel can get insanely bright under direct sunlight, so playing games on this phone outdoors won’t be an issue. The Vivo T3 Ultra even has a large battery with super fast charging speed, so you will be able to play for hours without worrying about the battery. The phone is priced brilliantly but the company had to cut some corners to fit this budget, and that came in the form of camera downgrades.

As we said earlier, the Vivo T3 Ultra is a lighter version of the vivo V40 Pro but that phone had three proper camera sensors, which is not the case with this phone. Don’t get us wrong. The camera is more than decent but it’s not on the same level as other Vivo phones. However, the phone achieved what it wanted to and brought some serious competition back in the mid-range market. The Xiaomi Poco F6 is the best alternative to this smartphone, which has an even better gaming performance. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your needs and requirements.
