Ulefone Note 12P

Ulefone Note 12P Review – Ulefone offers decent entry-level smartphones that provide decent value to users. The company recently launched the Ulefone Note 12P, the successor to the Ulefone Note 11P. As the phone overcomes the flaws of the previous generation device and offers incredible value for money. The Ulefone Note 12P was released in October, while manufacturers have not updated any news about the global release.

The key to buying this phone would be its huge battery that you would hardly find in any other smartphone, while the Note 12P also has its equal share of flaws. As the phone launches in the mid-range, where there is aggressive competition, there are tons of options. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Ulefone Note 12P smartphone.

Ulefone Note 12P Review

Highlights

  1. The device comes with a standard 6.82 inches IPS LCD display that provides ample pixel density.
  2. The processing section contains the Unisoc SC9863A chipset under the hood, while the graphic of IMG8322 is also present.
  3. In terms of software layers, you’re getting the almost full experience with Android 11 OS.
  4. A 13MP triple camera setup is introduced on the rear panel while you are getting an 8MP selfie camera on the front.
  5. Don’t worry about charging with the colossal size Li-Po 7700 mAh battery and the usual 10W charger.

Design and Display

The build quality and overall design are unchanged from the previous variant. On the other hand, you’ll get a rectangular camera board cut out on the back with a side-mounted fingerprint reader, as the phone offers an IPS LCD panel. The first impression of the Ulefone Note 12P is the same as all other basic smartphones, but what makes the phone more special would be its classic colors.

You’re getting shade options like Black, Red, and Blue, each one of them stands out for its simple lock. But if you’re looking for something fancy, the red hue options are worth a try, while black and blue fall a bit on the standard side. As for the weight, the device weighs around 237 grams and offers 10.2 mm thick, which makes it look like a brick. It happened due to the entry of the huge battery.

And because of the heavy construction, you can feel the weight in your hands. Now the waterdrop notch screen offers decent color and contrast while watching videos and streaming content online, and due to the tall aspect of the 6.82-inch screen, it enhances the experience. Plus you’re getting HD+ resolution that delivers a humble viewing experience. However, you won’t get Corning glass, HDR, and advanced refresh rate support.

Memory and Internet

The hardware section is a big disappointment as the processing cores haven’t even crossed the 2.0GHz clock speed barriers. Under the hood, you’ll get the fairly common Unisoc SC9863A chipset that performs everyday tasks in a hassle-free way and features ultra-affordable phone-like multitasking, which isn’t a good thing. These problems can be caused by the global shortage of chipsets.

On the other hand, the gaming experience with Ulefone Note 12P would be average as you cannot play high-end games like PUBG (BGIM), Call of Duty. To support lite games, the manufacturers render a 4GB RAM that precisely manages the interface configuration and lets you go with smooth settings. But warm-up issues can occur in long game sessions for sure.

Then the ultimate Android 11 software offers awesome features to customize system settings as per your desire and create a custom ecosystem. In terms of storage, the company offers a 64GB internal storage room that will store media, files, and more accurately. Lastly, you’ll also receive a dedicated secondary storage unit to push the boundaries.

Camera

Camera quality has never been the main selling point for Ulefone phones, and over the years the company has made only a few minor changes to improve the quality of the primary sensor. But that quality hasn’t remained constant with other features such as portrait mode. The Ulefone Note 12P smartphone has the worst edge detection we’ve seen so far, there’s a chance it can be fixed in future updates, but there’s no guarantee.

The 13MP main camera’s daylight is adequate to compete, while low-light photography will be a big disadvantage for the phone. After that you won’t get the dynamic range of colors, everything looks like AI filters, and the light reflections are noticeable. Additionally, grain and supersaturation will constantly degrade the camera’s quality. Image processing with 2 MP secondary depth and 2 MP macro lens is also disappointing.

Fortunately, the native camera app offers awesome features, filters, and modes from which you can click on photos of your loved ones. On the same note, you can record videos up to 1080p, but as for the photo quality, the video quality is also average. Surprisingly, the 8 MP selfie camera offers decent results with its respective modes and features, but it can’t be considered the best. Overall, if the lighting is good, you can capture decent clicks.

Battery and Others

Ulefone is best known for its rugged armored smartphones and they specialize in providing more battery capacity, and the same has been tried here. You are getting a massive 7700 mAh battery that provides over 10 hours of screen time for continuous use. But at the same time, you can play light games for more than 4 hours or more which is quite surprising. But if the company added fast charging support instead of a 10W charger that would be great.

The Ulefone Note 12 comes with a sensor and above-average communications that allow users to experience the UI elements to the full. In contrast, the phone has decent sound output, although it doesn’t have stereo speakers. On the other hand, the price comes to $149 (Rs 10,999) approx. With that price range, the phone sounds very much in the affordable entry-level segment.

Conclusion

Ulefone Note 12P smartphone has a standard Android experience, unlike the other brand, where you’ll get an ad-loaded interface. But at the same time, if you’re looking for a decent camera and image processing features that are close to the competition, then this phone might not be for you. However, if your only purpose when buying the phone is to familiarize yourself with the internet and social media feed, then thanks to the long battery life, you can spend more hours on it.

The battery endurance might not be great, but it will work out. As for the alternative, the first smartphone that comes to my mind would be the Tecno Pova 2, it has bold features and a good quality/price ratio. Anyway, if we have to recommend the Ulefone Note 12P, we will recommend it only for battery life. In the end, the final purchase decision is yours.
