Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra

Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Smartphone Review – The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra is a flagship rugged smartphone that was announced in September 2024 and will start shipping out to customers in November 2024. Given Ulefone’s records, this phone should be available globally in many countries via AliExpress but the company hasn’t provided an official statement about the same.

Even though the Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra features a similar design as that of other Ulefone phones, it looks better than them due to the secondary display on the rear side. Also, this is a proper flagship phone, so it has all the latest bells and whistles, including 5G connectivity. The company wants to attract premium users with this flagship-level phone. Let’s begin with a detailed review of the Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra and see if this smartphone is worth purchasing.

Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Smartphone Review

  1. The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
  2. The SoC inside the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ 5G SoC, which is capable of reaching clock speeds of 1×3.25 GHz.
  3. The smartphone comes with Android 14 and a stock user interface for better experience.
  4. The main rear camera of the smartphone has a 50MP triple rear camera system, while the selfie camera has a 50MP sensor.
  5. The smartphone is powered by a 10600 mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Design and Display

The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra features a familiar design, yet looks new. The design mostly resembles other Ulefone phones, yet it looks more premium, thanks to the presence of a secondary screen displaying the time and other information. The body is absolutely solid with no chance of creaking or bending of any sort. In fact, this rugged phone has been validated with MIL-STD-810H certification, so it can even survive drops to concrete from a height of up to 2 meters.

As for the display on the front, the phone features a 6.67-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. This AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution will provide superior picture quality with a significantly better contrast ratio. The panel can also get as bright as 2200 nits, which is plenty, and you will have no issues using the phone under direct sunlight. The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra will be available in Black color only and is also protected by an IP68/69K dust and water resistance.

Memory and Internal

The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra has the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ 5G chipset, which is capable of reaching clock speeds of up to 1×3.25GHz. This flagship MediaTek chipset can run all apps and games smoothly without any issues, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and more. Speaking of gaming, the Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU can comfortably run games like PUBG mobile, Summoners War, CODm, and even Genshin Impact without any issues.

The chipset also supports 5G connectivity, so expect gigabit download speeds and low latency during online multiplayer games. As for the software, the Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra is running on Android 14 and has a stock user interface, which delivers a clean and better user experience. When it comes to RAM and storage, the smartphone has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage.

Camera

The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra also comes with a 50MP triple rear-camera system. The 50MP primary rear camera can capture some great shots with high detail levels and saturated colors. However, don’t compare this smartphone with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. It’s a camera-centric smartphone, so it doesn’t have that level of camera performance, but it should blow out other phones in the same price range.

The secondary camera consists of a 64MP night vision sensor that is accompanied by two infrared LEDs. This helps it capture images in the absolute dark without any issues. The third camera consists of a 50MP ultra-wide sensor that is capable of capturing pictures with a wide field of view. The picture quality from this camera is just as good as the main camera.

As for the selfie camera, there’s another 50MP sensor, and it can take some fantastic selfies with high detail levels, perfect white balance, and a natural skin tone. The phone supports high-res video recording from all the camera sensors, but none of them have OIS or gyro-EIS support to capture stable footage.

Battery and Others

The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra has a Li-Ion 10600 mAh battery. This high-capacity battery can deliver a great battery life of 3 – 7 days, or more, depending on the usage. Achieving this level of battery life is totally possible with lighter usage, which includes texting, social media, web browsing, using a camera, and watching videos.

However, the battery will not last that long if you play a lot of games, but you will be glad to know that it supports extremely fast charging in the form of both wired and wireless charging. Its 120W wired charging system can fully charge the phone in under 30 minutes, while its 50W wireless fast charging can do the same in around an hour. The phone also has triple-band Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, a fingerprint scanner, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra smartphone costs around $714 (Rs 59,999 in India) approx.

Conclusion

The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra has all the latest and the best hardware inside to make it a proper flagship rugged smartphone. Everything from the design & display to the performance & battery is fantastic. Even the camera performance is also quite good. It may not be on the same level as flagship phones from Samsung and Apple, but it’s not far behind.

You no longer need to choose between a flagship and a rugged smartphone. The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra is designed to deliver the best of both worlds and does so gracefully. Not to mention, this phone is essentially a brick that will work in any condition and can easily survive hard falls and drops.

It’s an excellent smartphone that has no known alternative. The closest a smartphone can come to the internal specs of this rugged phone is the OnePlus 12, which has similar specs at a low price. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.
