Design and Display
The Tecno Camon 40 lineup has the best design so far. Both models come with a dual-tone back panel, which somehow resembles the Galaxy series phones. But, they added their own twist and made a dedicated camera island on the right-hand side. The device comes with a plastic build with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front. Moreover, Tecno refined the color options and made them more aesthetically pleasing.
You can choose both devices in three marvelous paint jobs, including Galaxy Black, Glacier White, and Emerald Lake Green. All of them look stunningly beautiful, but the Emerald color stands out from the other two variants. Alongside this, IP68/IP69 certification is introduced on these devices, so you don’t have to worry about dust tight and water resistant.
On the other hand, the curved 6.78 inches AMOLED display ensures FHD+ resolution. With this panel, you will obtain vibrant colors, controlled contrast, and deep blacks, which work wonders for gaming and media usage. The 5G model offers a 144Hz refresh rate, while the non-5G model gives a 120Hz refresh rate. Both screens will provide smooth scrolling and fast animation experience. Yet, the standard brightness levels are a bit concerning.
Memory and Internal
There’s a slight difference between the Camon 40 Pro and 40 Pro 5G. The 5G model equips a power-efficient Dimensity 7300 chipset. With this chip, users can hassle-freely enjoy their daily activities without any breaks. Moreover, the device won’t struggle with graphic-intensive games and provide a smooth sailing experience. As for the 4G model, you get the Helio G100 Ultimate chipset. The same chip appears in the Camon 40.
The overall performance of the Helio chip isn’t that grand. However, causal gaming and normal multitasking won’t be a big issue for the hardware. Yet, there’s no denying that this chipset has limited CPU processing. In general, for 4g mode, the Helio G100 Ultimate only goes up to 2×2.2GHz clocking speed. A typical entry-level performance, yet it’s good to see that the devices are getting the Android 15-based HIOS 15. On the other hand for the 5g model, the Mediatek Dimensity 7300 goes up to 4×2.5 GHz clocking speed.
Typically, the Camon series smartphone receives two years of system updates and three years of security patches. But, the company hasn’t disclosed any information regarding the Camon 40 lineup. Nevertheless, it’s clear that both devices will equip 256GB storage with 8GB RAM, while the 5G variant will obtain an additional 12GB RAM option. With this configuration, store as much as multimedia you want.
Camera
Both Camon 40 Pro mode’s camera system is identical spec-wise. You will obtain a 50MP primary and 8MP ultra-wide on the back panel. The main sensor provides optical image stabilization that helps in capturing detailed photos. Following this, the ultra-wide angle lens gives decent results. But, it could have been better since the previous generation provided a 50MP ultra-wide. Anyway, the software optimized the skin tone accurately.
As for the portrait images, it lacks vibrant colors and fine details. But, the saving grace would be the daylight photography enhancement with a bit of dynamic range. The lowlight picture quality is mediocre, and even the night mode didn’t look that effective. Thankfully, the 50MP selfie lens can produce presentable photos and videos. Despite this, it’s not recommended to take your hopes too high.
As far as video recording matters, both models effortlessly record up to 4K video at 30 and 60fps. Furthermore, you can get fine-tuned results with HDR videos. Yet, the video stabilization aspect isn’t that effective, especially when you are walking. Alongside this, grains and noise are visible in the lowlight video recording. For a camera enthusiast, it might not be the best choice.
Battery and Others
In terms of battery capacity, both models offer a 5200 mAh battery with 45W wired charging support. With this combination, the users won’t face any hassle during heavy usage. Besides this, it’s possible to get up to 5+ hours of screen time for media consumption, gaming, and other activities. Typically, both Tecno Camon 40 Pro devices can refuel up to 50% within 24 minutes.
As for the other notable perks, the phones arrive with dual speakers with impressive audio output support. Alongside this, you will also obtain NFC, infrared ports, and a 3.5 mm jack port. An under-display biometric sensor was also added for additional security. Speaking of the pricing. The expected price for the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G is around $206 (Rs. 17,999), whereas the 5G model will be roughly $275 (Rs. 23,999).

Conclusion
Tecno smartphone has often proven as a budget king, and their phone does keep up the standards. But, looking at the new Camon 40 Pro 4G and 5G, they feel a bit downgraded. Compared to the Camon 30 Pro models, these new phones sliced the storage in half. Besides this, the ultrawide lens is replaced with a regular 8MP ultra-wide lens. Not only that but the overall performance is reduced to a certain extent.
Long story short, if you want a value-for-money option, then consider getting the predecessor Camon 30 Pro instead. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro is a promising alternative that you must check. It brings better software updates, an improved camera, and many other cool features. In the overcrowded market of mid-range smartphones, Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G and 5G smartphones may not offer the best value for every user. Therefore, look for a phone that fits your specific needs.
