Tecno Camon 30S Pro

Tecno Camon 30S Pro Smartphone Review – Tecno Camon 30 series phones are already in the market, and recently, the smartphone makers introduced the new Camon 30S Pro. The initial impression of this phone was quite unexpected. There’s no denying that the company put some effort into improving the design. But still, we saw this design in the Tecno Camon 30 and 30 Pro. The company just released this phone in a hurry with a new chipset.

Being a MediaTek fan, the new chip introduction does feel underwhelming. Plus, adding a new hardware component only gives a boost to the camera department. Moreover, expecting resilient performance might not be possible yet. Still, the Camon 30S Pro does have its plus points, like a curved screen, higher screen-to-body ratio, sleek build, and more. Still, if you are looking for a value-of-money deal, consider going through the Tecno Camon 30S Pro Smartphone review. With that, you might able to make accurate decisions according to your requirements.

Tecno Camon 30S Pro Smartphone Review

  3. In terms of performance, you can rely on the Mediatek Helio G100 chipset with 4G connectivity support.
  4. A 50MP triple camera will appear alongside a 50MP selfie camera on this phone.
  5. Lastly, you are getting a 5000 mAh battery capacity with a 45W wired and 20W wireless charging.

Design and Display

The Tecno Camon 30S Pro has its traditional circular camera with unique paint job options like the rest of the Camon 30 series phones. You can choose this phone in Interstellar Grey, Pearl Gold, and Shim Silver Green colors. Apart from the design aspect, the phone has a typical Tecno built. As usual, you can expect a few things like a lightweight body, plastic back panel, thin bezels, slim side panel, etc. However, the company also gives IP53 rating protection for dust and splash.

But still, it would be excellent if the company added gorilla protection on the 6.78-inch AMOLED panel. With FHD resolution, you won’t face hassle watching content. But, the 120Hz refresh rate will consume more battery life. Still, if you want a fluid and smooth user experience, an advanced refresh rate would be required. Generally, the touch response will improve if you are using a higher refresh rate. As for the brightness, the screen can go up to 1300 nits, which is considerably decent for a mid-range phone.

Memory and Internal

The Tecno Camon 30S Pro hardware section debuted the Helio G100 chipset, which can be considered a decent choice in the mid-range segment. Mediatek chipsets usually work great with budget phones. But, there aren’t major upgrades from the Helio G99 chipset when it comes to the GPU or CPU. Still, the camera software has improved a bit with this new chipset. As for the visuals, the graphics settings are just above average.

Following this, the octa-core process can provide up to 2.2GHz cloaking speed. It is accompanied by 256GB space and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. On the papers, the performance aspect is pretty underwhelming if you look at the standards of Android smartphones. But, the improved compare software configuration will ensure a better camera experience. As for the software skin, you are getting the Android 14 based on the HIOS 14 custom skin.

In the HIOS, the users will obtain a wide range of wallpapers, widgets, and custom theme options. Alongside this, the software skin brings a standard configuration. However, there are a noticeable number of bloatware apps. Still, the gaming sessions are quite decent since you won’t face trouble playing in standard resolution settings.

Camera

In most of the Camon 30 series phones, the camera aspect is one of the core downsides. In the Tecno Camon 30S Pro, the users will obtain a regular configuration of 50MP primary sensors, 2MP depth, and an Auxiliary lens, which completes a triple camera setup. Spec-wise, the phone may not have high hopes when it comes to real-time photography. But, the results shocked us since the colors are quite accurate.

In daylight photos, the primary lens can produce detailed images with natural colors and a thorough control of the contrast. Following this, you can also use HDR mode to enhance the light intensity, color saturation, hue, and other aspect. Furthermore, the portrait mode will produce good photos. However, the detailing is slightly off from the standard. However, the lowlight photos aren’t the strong point of this phone.

Yes, the night mode does help a bit. But, the overall results aren’t something that you will expect from a mid-range phone. Still, you won’t notice that much noise in the background. As for the video recording, the phone can go up to FHD+ resolution video recording. But, don’t expect any video stabilization or other fancy video settings. Though, you will find the standard combination of timelapse and slow-mo in the native camera app.

Battery and Others

In this Tecno Camon 30S Pro, the company claims that its 45W charge can refill the 5000 mAh battery in less than 45 minutes. But to tell the truth, it will take more than an hour. Anyway, you can expect up to 5+ hours of screen time for standard usage. Aside from this, we barely notice one or two phones in the budget segment offering wireless charging support. It’s fabulous to see that the device can be refueled up to a 20W wireless charger.

The Camon 30S Pro has adequate sensors, comms, and other necessary tools. Following this, the phone supports 4G connectivity, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and average audio output. As for the Tecno Camon 30S Pro price, the phone can be purchased at $286 (Rs 23,990 in India) approx. Apart from from shortcomings, the phone is a good addition to the Camon 30 lineup.

Conclusion

The Tecno Camon 30S Pro is a mediocre mid-range phone. Even after getting the new chipset, it’s just the Helio G100 without any GPU improvement. The gameplay experience is average, while lags is noticed during long gaming sessions. On the other hand, the battery performance isn’t that bad, and there are options to refuel using a wired or wireless charger.

All of those factors do look good on the paper. Yet, the real-time tests are telling a slightly different story. You can’t expect much from the performance department. In the same budget range, you will find phones like Realme Narzo 70 Pro. It’s an overall package in the mid-range market. Still, we won’t hold you back from selecting a phone. But make sure asses the pros and cons before choosing any device.
