TCL 30 XL

TCL 30 XL 2022 Smartphone Review – The TCL smartphone is always been one of the best choices in affordable segment phones in the USA. Recently, the company released a new TCL 30 XL phone around June 2022. The phone is looking pretty standard from the first impression but we all know that what were are signing up from the TCL phone. The phone doesn’t have that attractive quality in the first place.

But at the same time, if you are talking about the affordable 4G range, you are getting tons of different options. However, this brand is working for a while and created a big name for them. But, they don’t unveil their phones outside the United States, and it becomes difficult to purchase these phones in other countries. But, they make sure to give a decent set of features and specs according to the price range. Let’s head toward the TCL 30 XL 2022 review to find out more details about this phone.

TCL 30 XL 2022 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The device arrives with a 6.82 inches IPS LCD panel that got an HD resolution display.
  2. As for the software end, you will receive the Android 12 firmware based on TCL UI 3.0 interface.
  3. In terms of performance, the phone handle overall usage through an Helio A25 chipset.
  4. A 50MP AI quad camera setup arrives on the back panel and it also includes a 13MP selfie lens.
  5. Lastly, you will also find a Li-Ion 5000 mAh massive battery under the hood with 18W charging support.

Design and Display

The TCL 30 XL smartphone brings a pretty standard and sleek design with a matte finish that complements the overall design aspect of the rectangular sable camera island. Besides this, you will find the fingerprint reader on the back panel so that you can set security factors over this phone. Although, the company doesn’t invest as much in the color variant as expected.

You will only obtain the Dark Blue color variant that will provide a classic appearance with a plastic body that grants a decent in-hand feeling. However, there’s no doubt that the phone does feel a bit thick from the side panel due to the huge battery that appears inside. Because of this and the older chipset, the side panel is around 9.1-mm thick. But even though, it weighs around 204.4 grams, the phone doesn’t feel that heavy.

On the other hand, the smartphone makers give the front display a water drop notch look with thin bezels. It’s a 6.82 inches tall aspect ratio IPS LCD panel that renders immersive colors and contrasts with HD resolution support. Though the colors are not that great compared to the AMOLED, the phone got lower brightness settings, which makes outdoor usage dull.

Memory and Internal

The hardware section offers a pretty old MediaTek MT6762V Helio A25 chipset, and it’s been a while since we have seen this chip in any android phone. Usually, you can get impressive performance if the phone is being used for normal content watching and casual gaming. But if you tried to play advanced graphic games or run heavy multitasking, the device will struggle to perform well.

In regular condition, you can play games for a few hours without any hassle, but at some point, you will start noticing overheating issues. The reason for that is the company doesn’t add a proper cooling system inside the hood. Furthermore, the refresh rate is stuck at 60Hz, while the processing power can only reach up to 4×2.0GHz cloaking speed. In terms of the user interface, the combo of the Android 12 with the TCL UI 3.0 interface feels superb.

It grants a mesmerizing experience with heavily customized features that allows user to modify the Android ecosystem to some extent. Although, we won’t deny that we found bloatware apps and some random unnecessary system app that takes a huge chunk of 64GB internal storage. Hopefully, you are getting expandable secondary storage with 6GB RAM support for better performance.

Camera

The camera island equips a 50MP primary lens which is responsible for producing decent photos and video with the saturation of a decent color and crisp contrast that will further boost the overall camera quality. However, the phone is lacking proper AI software and because of that, you will notice a drastic drop in colors and contrast when you try to capture lowlight photos.

Though, the night mode helps to boost the colors and reduce the noise from the background. But the overall results still feel underwhelming compared to other brands. However, we can’t overlook the price factor, which unavoidably makes the phone’s camera experience average. Aside from this, the phone includes a standard 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth for their respective features.

The native camera app can bring decent features and filter options from which you can tweak the images according to your wishes. But still, the raw images are underwhelming, while on the other hand, the TCL 30 XL smartphone can record up to 1080p videos. Aside from this, it also houses a 13MP selfie lens at the front with good enough camera results.

Battery and Others

Under the hood, the battery department of the TCL 30XL 2022 comes with a Li-Ion 5000 mAh battery setup, which is pretty standard. With that much battery capacity, it’s expected that the phone will provide more than 6+ hours of screen time in most ideal conditions. However, the phone will struggle a lot with multitasking and the battery optimization is not that good with gaming sessions.

As far as the charging speed is concerned, the company is offering an 18W charger that generally requires an hour and a half to refuel the entire battery. the comms and sensor are average, while it’s good to see that the company added a dual speaker. Finally, the TCL 30 XL 2022 smartphone price is around $169 (Rs. 13,990 in India) approx in the United States.

Conclusion

The TCL 30 XL 2022 is present as a budget segment phone and it compromises with some of the core aspects when you are looking for a value-for-money deal. From the start, we would recommend you to not get any high hopes with this phone since it’s lacking in terms of processing, camera, and battery life. But surprisingly, the display and software experience is pretty good.

Generally, when you are in search of an affordable android phone, you have to overlook some of the downsides of the phone. The same goes for the TCL 30 XL smartphone. But if you have a budget under $200, it’s the best option that you can go within the United States. If you prefer a clean UI, we would recommend checking out OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G as an alternative option.
