Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Pros and Cons

Samsung Galaxy S22 Review – Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphone was released on 25th February 2022 alongside its big brother the Galaxy S22+. The refreshing new changes and features to the regular S22 have brought much-needed improvements and have certainly improved the flagship experience compared to the last year’s model.

The new and improved processor, camera, design, and mostly Gorilla Glass Victus+ protected glass back, which was missing from the last year’s model, makes for an incredible experience for the Samsung Galaxy S22 while asking for the same price. If you happen to already have the S21, then it doesn’t make a lot of sense to buy the S22, but if you are someone who’s looking for a proper flagship experience, then the Samsung Galaxy S22 won’t disappoint you. Let’s start with a detailed review of the Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Review

Highlights

  1. The Samsung Galaxy S22 features a 6.1 inches Dynamic AMOLED 2X display panel.
  2. It is powered by the latest flagship 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for global while the European market gets the 4nm Exynos 2200 processor.
  3. The smartphone is pre-loaded with the latest Android 12 OS out of the box and has the new OneUI 4.1 user interface.
  4. The new and improved triple camera system features a 50MP main camera and a 10MP selfie camera.
  5. The Li-Ion 3700 mAh battery powering the smartphone has support for up to 25W of fast charging.

Design and Display

Gone is the plastic back and welcome Gorilla Glass Victus+ protected back glass panel, which is a significant improvement over the previous model both in terms of looks and in-hand feel. The curved edge of the plastic back with the aluminum frame is replaced with flat glass that fits perfectly inside the aluminum frame. The aluminum frame makes it very sturdy and premium to hold. Apart from this everything else is the same in terms of design.

The phone can be used single-handedly without any problem. The display features the FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak 1300 nits brightness, which is also found on the Galaxy S21 smartphone. The phone comes in 8 colors in total, out of which 4 of them are exclusive to the Samsung online store and you can’t get those colors from anywhere else online.

The Samsung exclusive colors are Cream, Sky Blue, Graphite, and Violet and for the rest, you get the following colors Phantom Black, White, Pink Gold, and the Green color is also our favorite color. Both the front and the back of the phone are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ and the side frame is made out of armor aluminum and that’s Samsung’s way of saying it’s tough.

Memory and Internal

The Samsung Galaxy S22 features the latest 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset except for the European market. The availability of the new chipset in the Galaxy S22 depends on your region, meaning not everyone gets the same chipset. The Snapdragon chipset is only available if you live in one of these regions- the US, India, Australia, Canada, among other countries. While those who live in Europe will get the 4nm Exynos 2200 Chipset variant integrated with the Xclipse 920 GPU.

Both of these flagship processors are manufactured with a 4nm EUV manufacturing process, which brings in increased transistor count, improved performance, thermal efficiency, and lower battery consumption. The Snapdragon variant gets the Adreno 730 GPU and both the Chipset provides the best possible performance and gaming capabilities in the world of Android.

It is running on Android 12 OS out of the box with the new OneUI 4.1 interface and comes in two variants, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S22 phone’s new and improved triple camera system is designed in the form of a main 50MP wide sensor, 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto sensor for 3x optical zoom. The dynamic range is better and so are the details in the highlights and the shadows. The detailing has improved and the colors look even better than before and very true to life. The ultra-wide camera also has similar detail and color science with a 120-degree field of view.

The 3x telephoto zoom lens is where we see some significant improvements. The depth is so clearly visible with little to no noise even if you zoom but the noise will increase as you zoom further. The night images are equally impressive and capture the images perfectly even during extremely low light situations.

The rear sensors have OIS and so they can provide a super steady motion while shooting videos. The Galaxy S22 can shoot up to a max of 8K at24FPS or 4K at 30/60FPS. The 10MP selfie sensor also takes some incredible selfies, but the selfie camera can also shoot videos at a maximum of 4K@60FPS.

Battery and Others

The Li-Ion 3700mAh battery inside the Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphone seems average, which is 30mAh less than the S21 but with the efficiency of the new processors, you are unlikely to notice any difference and you still get the same battery performance.

You won’t get a charger included in the box but it has support for 25W fast charging speed. It also features 15W fast wireless charging and 4.5W of reverse wireless charging to charge your accessories. The fingerprint sensor is an under-display ultrasonic sensor and so it is fast, accurate, and responsive.

The device also comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, compass, barometer, among other sensors. Besides this, the phone also features an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The Galaxy s22 smartphone starts at the price of $799 (Rs. 72,000 in India) approx. for the base variant and a little more for the top variant.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy S22 will provide you with the best of what Samsung has to offer at a very compelling price tag. Everything from the design and the display to the camera, Samsung packed this phone with the best possible hardware in the market for the best possible experience.

The phone has many advantages for this, we have already posted it in a separate section. But we also understand that a small screen is not everybody’s cup of tea and if the big screen is a must-have, then you can also check out the Vivo iQOO 9 as an alternative option, which features a bigger display and a much larger battery.
