Samsung Galaxy A23 Smartphone Review – The Samsung Galaxy A23 smartphone was launched globally in March 2022, alongside Galaxy A13. Samsung designed the A series of phones for those who prefer to have a premium performance device. Although it’s not as premium as the S22 series, it is indeed one of the most premium mid-range devices in its price category.
Even though it has a modern chipset, it doesn’t have a 5G support. In terms of design, the phone doesn’t look very different from that of the other phones in the A series of smartphones such as the Galaxy A33 or Galaxy A53. With that said, let’s begin with a detailed review of the Samsung Galaxy A23 smartphone.

Design and Display
When it comes to the design of the Samsung Galaxy A23, the phone features a matte finish on the back of the phone. The back and the sides are made out of plastic and it also looks very elegant, thanks to the minimal branding, cleaner aesthetics, flat back, and fantastic colors. You can buy the phone in Peach, White, Blue, and black colors. The peach is our personal favorite. It just looks stunning.
On the front, you get a standard 6.6-inches PLS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a waterdrop notch that houses the selfie camera. The absence of an AMOLED panel is a disappointment for those who expected it, anyhow you can do nothing about it. Also, the device holds Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Memory and Internal
Internally, the Samsung Galaxy A23 is powered by the 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G chipset. The chipset is more than enough for regular performance and a decent gaming experience. For graphics, you get the Adreno 610 GPU while the processor can reach up to a max of 2.4GHz clocking speed.
With this internal, you can play high-end games such as COD, and BGMI at higher graphics, and the 90Hz refresh rate will help you with that. The phone comes with 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM along with 64GB/128GB internal storage. You can also extend storage limits with the dedicated SD card slot. Besides this, you get the latest Android 12 OS with OneUI 4.1 user interface for software layering.
Camera
The phone has a quad-rear camera setup, with a 50MP main lens, a 5MP ultra-wide, and two 2MP macro and depth sensors. The 50MP main camera of the Galaxy A23 takes decent pictures with a good amount of detail and the color science is on point, especially considering the price of the smartphone. The dynamic range is quite decent even under harsh sunlight. Even the pictures in portrait mode are equally impressive and the edges around the human subject look quite natural. Most pictures coming out of the smartphone has a good amount of details, a decent amount of light, and a very natural skin tone.
Pictures taken during the night do suffer a bit. They are not bad, but there are other phones that can do better during the night. Also, the 5MP ultra-wide losses out to the main camera in terms of picture quality. There’s a noticeable decrease in detail levels, but they are good enough to post on social media. The 8MP selfie lens can take decent selfies, but the details could have been better. When it comes to video recording, both the cameras can record 1080p videos at 30fps with no gyro-EIS stabilization support.
Battery and Others
The phone has a huge Li-Po 5000mAh battery, which runs very efficiently, thanks to the new power-efficient SoC. With this, you easily get 3+ hours of heavy gaming and 5+ hours of screen time, and to refuel this massive battery, you get the 25W fast-charging support as well.
Apart from that, the phone also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C charging port. The smartphone is on sale right now starting at $186 (Rs. 16,990 in India) approx. for the base variant.

Conclusion
Whether the phone is right for you depends on what you want out of this smartphone. If looks, long-lasting battery, and the brand of Samsung matter to you, then you may choose to buy this phone. But considering the price, the phone is not justified for the value you are going to pay.
In fact, the Galaxy M23 smartphone provides a similar design while packing a much better chipset, and camera and even has 5G connectivity while costing a bit lower than that of the Galaxy A23. If you need all these features, the Galaxy M23 is a better alternative to buy for your money, but it doesn’t have a high refresh rate display as that of the Galaxy A23. So, you will have to make a decision based on what you need.
