Realme V23

Realme V23 Smartphone Review – The Realme V23 is a great phone that debuted in mainland China, in April 2022. Like most Realme phones, this smartphone also delivers great value to the users with ample performance, the latest android UI support, and battery life. The first impression of this phone might not that be appealing with the same repetitive design. As a reviewer, the same design didn’t attract that much.

But for the person who is looking for a mid-range phone, the Realme V23 does look pretty unique in its way. Though the phone is currently exclusive to China and it’s don’t look like the company is planning to launch this phone in the other market. Even if it’s released, it would unveil as a rebranded version. But still, the Realme V23 is one of those phones that is worth your time and money. So, without any further ado, let’s begin the detailed review of the Realme V23 smartphone.

Realme V23 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The phone comes with a 6.58-inches IPS LCD panel that clubs along with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate.
  2. As for the software end, the Android 12 with the latest Realme UI 3.0 custom features.
  3. In terms of hardware support, the 6nm MediaTek MT6833P Dimensity 810 chipset tags with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
  4. A 48MP MP dual camera setup handles all of the camera quality, while there’s an 8MP selfie camera at the front.
  5. Finally, a massive Li-Po 5000 mAh battery setup arrives with a 33W fast charging speed.

Design and Display

Undoubtedly, the Realme V23 doesn’t have anything new in the design aspect. But still, because the sleek finish back panel does have charm. Besides this, the camera module design is more refined and looks classic than other competition phones, still, it doesn’t add any fancy features. On the other hand, the phone’s appearance will vary from user to user.

Hopefully, it’s a good thing that the company is providing two amazing shade options Black and Gradient from which you can pick anything that fits apt according to your taste. Moving to the front display section, the thin bezels are almost hidden by the flat 6.58-inches screen. Although, the smartphone makers don’t render AMOLED panels.

Instead of that, the company provides an IPS LCD that grants less saturation and contrast. However, the phone will grant a 90Hz refresh rate, which will eventually improve the overall user experience, and alongside this, the phone will also render 600 nits brightness. Since it’s an IPS LCD display, you will attain a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Yet, there’s no info about corning glass or IP rating.

Memory and Internal

The hardware department needs to be powerful and sufficient enough to fulfill the user requirements, especially in the mid-range. In the case of Realme V23, the 6nm MediaTek MT6833P Dimensity 810 chipset sounds a great deal for the users who desire subtle performance with some casual gaming experience. We have tested some games like Call of Duty and Apex Legends.

The results are decent and the touch response does add up more layers. Although the phone doesn’t have a cooling system, so you will notice overheating issues in the long run. However, the visual aspect feels downgraded with the GPU performance. Anyway, the Android 12-based Realme UI 3.0 interface does have some hope in it as you will receive numerous customization features.

Although, it might not clean as the stock Android ecosystem, but still, the custom layering that Realme provides will make your user experience superb. On the other hand, you will notice a few bloatware apps. Speaking of the storage capacity, the smartphone makers offer 256GB internal storage with 8GB to 12GB RAM support with secondary SD card access.

Camera

Recently, Nothing Phone One Smartphone was released, and it set a new level for creating a mid-range phone. Like the Nothing Phone 1, the Realme V23 also cut useless corners and provides a dual camera setup. There’s a 48MP primary lens that deals with a major photography session and can provide decent colors, contrast, and saturation with comparatively less noise in the background.

The daylight shots are beautiful, while the native camera app has a few filters to improve the quality of the photos more. Yet, we all know that will going to use Instagram and Snapchat filters. Anyway, it does have crips macro photos, but edge detection of portrait shots are feel miserable. There’s no denying that a 2MP depth lens adds more layers to the photos.

Still, it falls short in providing fine details. As for the low-light images, grains are visible, and overall camera quality drops in the dark. However, it’s not bad as the average entry-level smartphone’s night mode. But still, you will notice the camera flaws here and there. In terms of video, recording can go up to 1080p.

Battery and Others

Battery life is one of the key pillars that need to check before purchasing any smartphone device. Hopefully, the Realme V23 has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery capacity, which will provide ample screen time. The battery endurance is roughly two days and a half on a single charge, while if you are using the phone continuously, it will provide more than five hours of screen time.

During our test, the 33W charger only takes an hour and roughly 28-minutes to refuel the juice from flat to full. As for the additional features, the stereo speaker is something worth noting. Apart from this, it doesn’t bring anything that stands out. The Realme V23 is priced at $260 (Rs 20,000 in India) approx. For this price point, the phone feels acceptable.

Conclusion

The Realme V23 smartphone doesn’t sell itself as a camera-centric phone from day one. The phone is more about power, performance, software experience, and long-lasting battery life. If you are looking for better camera quality, there are several alternative options present in the market. But on the other hand, the Realme V23 plus point is his hardware and software.

Though, we won’t recommend this phone in the first place because you can find various smartphones with better specs and features. If you are in search of the best phone at approx $250, we would recommend the Realme 9 because it has more appealing features that make the phone a value-for-money deal but it’s up to you what you want.
